Should Government Raise Our Three-Year-Olds?

September 9, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on Should Government Raise Our Three-Year-Olds?

By TERENCE P. JEFFREY Who should care for and nurture a three-year-old child? A mother, a father — or the government? The Democratic Party and former Vice President Joe Biden have taken an unambiguous stand on this. Caring for three-year-old children, in their view, is the government’s job.“We are committed to creating a society where children are safe and can thrive physically, emotionally, educationally, and spiritually,” says the platform that the Democratic Party approved at its national convention last month. This, of course, does not mean a doctor cannot kill a child before birth. The same Democratic platform that dedicates the party to “creating a society where children are safe” also says: “Like the majority of Americans, Democrats believe every woman should be…Continue Reading

At Carhart Abortion Facility… “Baby Lives Matter” Chalked On Street

September 7, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on At Carhart Abortion Facility… “Baby Lives Matter” Chalked On Street

By CHERYL SULLENGER BELLEVUE, Neb. (Operation Rescue) — As pro-life activists arrived for their September 2 shifts at LeRoy Carhart’s notorious Bellevue, Neb., abortion facility, they were greeted with a surprise. On the street near the front door of the clinic were painted the words, “Baby Lives Matter, Including Black Babies” in bright pink and blue paint.Recently, two activists with Students for Life were arrested in front of the Planned Parenthood abortion facility in Washington, D.C., for simply applying pro-life messages to the sidewalk with chalk. There have been no arrests in Bellevue — so far, anyway. Those who painted the street in front of Carhart’s abortion business remain anonymous, but their message will be the last thing women see before they…Continue Reading

Love And Cruelty

September 6, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on Love And Cruelty

By DONALD DeMARCO On the night of August 21, 1879, Mary, the Mother of God, appeared to a group of ordinary people in the village of Knock, County Mayo. She was flanked by St. Joseph on her right and St. John the Evangelist on her left. She said nothing and was described as being deep in prayer, her eyes lifted to Heaven. Those who witnessed the apparition stood or knelt in the rain for nearly two hours reciting the rosary. The site became a national shrine. Each diocese in Ireland now arranges an annual pilgrimage to the Marian shrine while the nine-day novena at Knock attracts around 10,000 pilgrims each August. On the centennial anniversary of the apparition, Pope John Paul…Continue Reading

Where Will All These War Games Lead?

September 5, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on Where Will All These War Games Lead?

By PATRICK J. BUCHANAN In northeast Syria the past week, a U.S. military vehicle collided with a Russian armored vehicle, injuring four American soldiers. Both the Americans and Russians blame each other for failing to follow established rules of the road. Had an American been killed, we could have had a crisis on our hands.Query: With the ISIS caliphate dead and buried, why are 500 U.S. troops still in Syria a year after Donald Trump said we would be pulling them out? What are they doing there to justify risking a clash with Russian troops who are in Syria as the invited allies of the Damascus regime of Bashar Assad, whether we approve of his regime or not?Nor was this the…Continue Reading

Archbishop Fisher Of Sydney . . . Calls For Ethical Coronavirus Vaccine

September 4, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on Archbishop Fisher Of Sydney . . . Calls For Ethical Coronavirus Vaccine

(CNA) — The archbishop of Sydney, Australia, has called on the country’s government to fund an ethical coronavirus vaccine not derived from the cells of aborted children.Archbishop Anthony Fisher, OP, joined the Anglican Archbishop of Sydney Dr. Glenn Davies and the Primate of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia, Archbishop Makarios, in signing a letter to the Australian government on August 20.They expressed their concerns that a vaccine to be distributed by the government for the new coronavirus “will raise serious issues of conscience for a proportion of our population,” while noting that it “may be sufficiently remote from the abortion that occasioned the derivation of the cell-line.”In an August 24 column for The Catholic Weekly titled, “Let’s not create…Continue Reading

More Important Than Ever… September’s Feast Of The Holy Cross

September 3, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on More Important Than Ever… September’s Feast Of The Holy Cross

By JAMES MONTI The return of the Church’s autumnal feast, the Exaltation of the Holy Cross on September 14, will have an added importance this year, for more than one reason. In a year when most of us were prevented from celebrating Good Friday in church, the arrival of this “little Good Friday” in September, at a time when thankfully many are again free to attend the Church’s liturgical rites, affords us an opportunity to revisit the mystery of Calvary and the victory won by our Savior there.Yet over the months since the Good Friday of April, the need to venerate the Cross has taken on a new urgency. For this sacred trophy of Christ’s battle and victory over Satan…Continue Reading

Biden Wants To Fund… What He Admits Is The Taking Of Human Life

September 2, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on Biden Wants To Fund… What He Admits Is The Taking Of Human Life

By TERENCE P. JEFFREY If you take Joe Biden at his word, he intends to do something profoundly evil: codify a “right” to deliberately kill innocent human beings and then use federal dollars to pay for that killing.Back in 2012, when then-Vice President Biden debated Cong. Paul Ryan, who was the Republican vice-presidential nominee, Biden conceded a scientific fact — but postured as if it were a religious proposition.“With regard to abortion,” Biden said, “I accept my church’s position on abortion as what we call a de fide doctrine. Life begins at conception. That’s the church’s judgment. I accept it in my personal life.”But the question of whether human life begins at conception is not ultimately a question of religious…Continue Reading

Will The Catholic Bishops Call Out Joe?

August 31, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on Will The Catholic Bishops Call Out Joe?

By PATRICK J. BUCHANAN As a cradle Catholic and recipient of Notre Dame’s Laetare Medal, Joe Biden is outspoken in declaring that the principles and beliefs of his Catholic faith guide his public life.“Joe is a man of faith,” was a recurring theme at the Democratic convention that nominated him to become our second Catholic president.Biden has often affirmed the centrality of his faith to his decisions in public life. In a video released on the eve of the convention, he credited Pope Francis and the nuns who educated him with making him the man he is today.Yet, when the Supreme Court ruled in July that the Little Sisters of the Poor could not be forced, by an Obamacare mandate,…Continue Reading

My Country Is My Identity

August 30, 2020 Featured Today Comments Off on My Country Is My Identity

By DONALD DeMARCO I am an individual, which is to say, the sum of all my idiosyncratic traits, inclinations, and unique accomplishments. I am also a person, which includes all my relationships with others, including the long gone members of my family tree. When I say that I am an American, I contain the contributions of all my forefathers. I can be proud to be an American because I stand at the summit of her history, including the good as well as the bad. History, in ways that I may not understand, has formed me. I learn more about myself when I study American history.Long ago when I was a high school student, I took a course in American history,…Continue Reading
