Goodbye, Omaha . . . Religious And Political Leaders’ Open-Borders Welcome Helps Submerge U.S.

January 28, 2015 Frontpage No Comments

By DEXTER DUGGAN

PHOENIX — Omaha, Neb., anchored in the Midwest heartland, is more than a two-hour flight by commercial jet northeast of Phoenix, the capital of Arizona and a two to three-hour drive from the Mexican border.
However, in the globalists’ open-borders, broken-fences world, Omaha might as well sit in the middle of Arizona’s Sonoran desert. You can thank, among others, Barack Obama, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB), and Wall Street behemoths. They seemingly never saw a fence they liked unless it’s protecting their own White House, chanceries, or investment hives.
Don’t bother to save up for a vacation in Latin America. That territory already has come right to you, minus the relaxation.
On January 13, Nebraska’s largest daily paper, the Omaha World-Herald, posted a story headlined, “Officials say they’ve dismantled large Mexican meth ring in Omaha area.”
The story said 20 people affiliated with Mexico’s dangerous, large Sinaloa drug cartel had been arrested, with at least 12 more warrants outstanding.
Lest anyone wonder about a powerful Latino mob operating in the U.S. heartland, the story quoted Omaha Police Chief Todd Schmaderer:
“The impact a cartel from Mexico may have on Omaha is much more than anyone thinks. We made a dent in this particular connection; now the task is to see what other connections are out there and to go after them.”
A few days later the World-Herald ran an article on a different topic headlined, “Nebraska schools challenged to meet needs of growing minority.”
The story, posted January 18, said, “As racial minorities take up more seats in the classroom, schools will be challenged to meet the needs of this growing group. Schools are likely to come under increasing political pressure to erase stubborn achievement gaps, overcome language barriers, and educate groups of students who are historically poorer than whites.”
As accompanying graphic said that for the 2014-2015 school year, 68.2 percent of Nebraska students are white, 6.7 percent are black, 2.4 percent are Asian, while 17.7 are Hispanic. The other 5 percent, such as Native Americans, wasn’t delineated.
“Minorities as a whole are steadily gaining in the state, led by Hispanic, Asian, and mixed-race students,” the story said.
One may debate whether many Hispanics instead should have been classified as “Caucasian,” as the “whites” also should be, but the “diversity” message came through loudly.
The politically correct newspaper story portrayed the fact of the “white” portion shrinking to be a marvelous benefit — even with 90 different languages reportedly being spoken in Omaha Public Schools.
Earlier in the month, the official voice of the newspaper, a World-Herald editorial, was headlined, “Work together to tackle poverty problem.”
Reporting that “Nebraska was one of only seven states to see an increase in its number of undocumented immigrants since 2009,” the editorial, posted January 11, said:
“Some 27.6 percent of the Omaha area’s Hispanic residents now live in poverty conditions, up from 16.9 percent in 2000, The World-Herald’s Henry Cordes reported last week. The national Hispanic poverty rate is 25.3 percent.
“This trend results in an array of negative consequences: misery and frustration for households, challenges for schools and medical providers; stresses on neighborhoods; roadblocks to economic progress for South Omaha itself and for Nebraska’s largest city, too,” the editorial said.
It quoted a local school official that “these trend lines” don’t “bode well for our community, our workforce, or everyone’s economic well-being.”
With wide-eyed wonder, the politically correct editorial enumerated positive steps that it said needed to be taken, such as having “strong communication channels.” None of the steps included discouraging the arrival of an increased number of illegal aliens, who bring another nation’s problems with them.
Nebraska certainly isn’t alone in contending with such burdens, after tens of millions of illegal aliens have sneaked into this nation under the strong encouragement of the globalist elite, who want a diluted U.S. middle class unable to resist the borderless agenda.
Everyone wants a better life. But that includes U.S. citizens, too.
Rather than help foreign people advance their life goals in their native lands, the elite dance them Pied-Piper style far away from their homes. U.S. citizens see their own wages flat-line, the job market suffer, the tax-eating welfare sector grow, neighborhood stresses and pressures increase, and an avaricious Democrat Party dream of the day when conservative middle-class people are overwhelmed and snowed under by the votes of the recently imported and socialist-trained.
An Arizonan could think back to last summer, as tides of unauthorized minors flooded northward across the border. Guatemala’s first lady, Rosa Leal de Perez, who looked very materially well off, showed up in Tucson to dine with the region’s helpful liberal Catholic bishop, Gerald Kicanas.
The first lady said she came to check on how well her country’s minors were being taken care of in the U.S. More than a few Arizonans wondered why the materially blessed woman didn’t show a similar interest in monitoring their welfare earlier when they still were back home in Guatemala, where they legally belonged.
Tucson television station KVOA, Channel 4, said the first lady (perhaps aware of the bad impression she was creating) said Guatemala was the only Latin country trying to prevent its minors from leaving home.
On a larger scale, Mexico’s wealthy, elitist president, Enrique Pena Nieto, thanked California Democrat Gov. Jerry Brown last August for welcoming countless illegal aliens into the Golden State from his own negligent nation.
And when he visited the White House on January 6, Pena Nieto lauded Obama’s unprecedented November 20 “executive action” promoting illegal immigration.
According to the White House transcript, the Mexican president said the action “is of course an act of justice for people who arrive from other parts of the world but are now part of the U.S. community. And among the population that will surely be benefited through your executive action, sir, there’s a very big majority of Mexican citizens.”

Struggling In The Shadows

Obama, Brown, and Pena Nieto actually know their open-borders agenda only imposes costs, burdens, and other problems on people on both sides of the international line. But it promotes the chaos and dislocation that fragment the future, to wealthy elitists’ advantage. Refusing to heal the wound back home means the bleeding continues without end.
U.S. citizens and legal residents understand that it’s better and more cost-effective to address the problems of other nations’ people where they live legally, rather than having them break the law to travel as far as thousands of possibly dangerous miles into a country where they may not understand the language, the law, the culture, the social situation, the economy, or other factors.
They can become welfare-intensive strangers struggling in the famed “shadows” rather than becoming better equipped to solve problems back on familiar territory.
Left-wing Cong. Luis Gutierrez of Illinois, as pro-abortion and pro-“same-sex marriage” as any other radical Democrat, also is a veteran promoter of the USCCB’s open-borders agenda. Gutierrez regularly threatens Republicans that they have to welcome millions of illegal aliens or else they’re politically dead.
The falsity of his claims was underlined with the big GOP victories in both the 2010 and 2014 midterms, but how much longer will this success continue?
If Republicans don’t cower before his radical border-jumpers, Gutierrez ranted on January 14, they’re igniting “the mobilization of an immigrant community throughout this nation that will be the death knell to the future of your party,” the Associated Press quoted him.
Gutierrez has met quietly in the past with GOP Cong. Paul Ryan of Wisconsin on achieving “immigration reform” — a striking reminder that Republicans still can seem more than willing to sell out their supporters, to serve the interests of Big Business.
Indeed, by mid-January the word started to emerge that funding the Department of Homeland Security to fight terrorism is so important that congressional Republicans might capitulate to Obama and agree to fund his lawless, unconstitutional “executive amnesty,” too.
The French Charlie Hebdo terrorism provided just the excuse the weak-kneed GOP establishment was looking for.
However, terrorism hardly is being thwarted by allowing Obama to keep the borders thrown open and insecure; but national GOP leadership often is more willing to kick aside its base than its big donors.
One can only wonder what more the long-suffering GOP base has to threaten in order to throw fear into Republican leadership to get this message: voters demand that proven, reliable border security absolutely has to come first.
Obama has accelerated his lawless, socialist transformation of the U.S. If his strategy isn’t blocked, and soon, this nation truly may wither then die.
On January 3 the Latin Post website said Gutierrez was urging that large numbers of illegal immigrants make sure to take advantage of Obama’s “executive amnesty” so that it’d be less likely a future U.S. president would undo it.
“Gutierrez has been urging people to apply for the program, having stated on MSNBC’s The Rundown in December that the program would be ‘unlikely’ to unravel under a future president if large amounts of undocumented immigrants enroll,” the Latin Post said.
The ability of a nation to survive against invaders’ forced entry substantially depends on its sovereignty to decide who will be admitted. Does anyone believe the U.S. government substantially exercises this discretion any longer?

Now more than ever, vehicles like The Wanderer are needed for clarification and guidance on the issues of the day.

Catholic, conservative, orthodox, and loyal to the Magisterium have been this journal’s hallmarks for five generations. God willing, our message will continue well into this century and beyond.

Abortion Advocates No Longer Consider It “A Necessary Evil,” They Celebrate Killing Babies

Last week, Kamala Harris became the first vice president in U.S. history to make a public visit to an abortion clinic.
