Despite Obama Storming . . . Pence Seeks To Explain Trump’s Attraction For Locked-Out Americans

August 7, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on Despite Obama Storming . . . Pence Seeks To Explain Trump’s Attraction For Locked-Out Americans

By DEXTER DUGGAN PHOENIX — Was that Barack Obama trying to rain on Donald Trump’s parade? As Republican Trump’s vice-presidential running mate, Mike Pence, came to Arizona’s capital city for an evening campaign rally, a drenching summer rain soaked this desert metropolis that often goes for months without a drop of Heaven-sent moisture. Rush-hour traffic crept along as the downpour left some streets sloshing from curb to curb on August 2. Earlier that same day, haughty Democratic renegade Obama at the White House presumed to tell Republicans to drop Trump as their presidential candidate because the successful Manhattan billionaire is so unfit and unprepared. Obama’s unconscious irony probably elicited more snickers across the nation than there were raindrops drowning Phoenix.…Continue Reading

Catholics Gone Wild

August 6, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on Catholics Gone Wild

By REY FLORES As if Pope Francis didn’t already have most of us nervous, here comes another curveball from Rome. The Pope just announced a 13-member commission (good thing we Catholics don’t believe in bad luck omens like the number 13), who will discuss and study the possibility of having female deacons in the Church. This must be great news to all of the busybody pantsuit types who like to push priests aside and try to run parishes. Altar girls across liberal Catholic American parishes (like Tim Kaine’s) can now also aspire to become deacons when they grow up. What this latest from the Pontiff mainly does is encourage the misguided women who truly want to become priests. It simply…Continue Reading

Lessons From The Deep State

August 5, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on Lessons From The Deep State

By ANDREW P. NAPOLITANO On the eve of the Democratic National Convention, WikiLeaks — the courageous international organization dedicated to governmental transparency — exposed hundreds of internal emails circulated among senior staff of the Democratic National Committee during the past 18 months. At a time when Democratic Party officials were publicly professing neutrality during the party’s presidential primaries, the DNC’s internal emails showed a pattern of distinct bias toward the candidacy of former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton and a marked prejudice toward the candidacy of Sen. Bernie Sanders. Some of the emails were raw in their tone, and some could fairly be characterized as failing to respect Sanders’ Jewish heritage. The revelation caused a public uproar during the weekend…Continue Reading

Tim Kaine renounced his opposition to taxpayer-funded abortions before gaining a spot as Hillary Clinton’s vice-presidential pick, according to the Clinton campaign. (“Until three weeks ago, Kaine publicly supported the Hyde Amendment, which bans the use of federal funds for abortions. But…Continue Reading

Mayoral Control Of Public Schools? What Would Pius XI Say?

August 3, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on Mayoral Control Of Public Schools? What Would Pius XI Say?

By JAMES K. FITZPATRICK It was in his encyclical Quadragesimo Anno that Pope Pius XI advanced the principle of subsidiarity, which instructed us that we should assign to higher levels of government only those issues that cannot be dealt with effectively by individual actions, private associations, and local and state governments. But it should be noted that Pius’ point was not that lower levels of government are always to be preferred. It depends upon the issue in question. Sometimes higher levels of authority are necessary, as with, say, national defense and regulating international trade. Prudential judgement is needed in making these decisions; and there can be legitimate differences of opinion over what level of government works best for the commonweal.…Continue Reading

The Eclipse Of White Christian America

August 2, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on The Eclipse Of White Christian America

By JAMES K. FITZPATRICK I think it safe to say that American voters in the early 1960s would not have backed the 1965 Immigration and Naturalization Act if they realized it would lead to white Christian Americans becoming a minority in the United States by the mid-21st century. Lyndon Johnson and Ted Kennedy understood that. They made repeated assurances that the new law would not change the racial and ethnic mix of the American people. Were Johnson, Kennedy, and the other politicians of the era lying? Or did they merely fail to foresee the impact of the new law, especially how its goal of “uniting families” would give preference to relatives of immigrants from Third World countries already in the…Continue Reading

A Movie Review . . . Hillary Is Only Part Of The Democrats’ Moral Problems In America

August 1, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on A Movie Review . . . Hillary Is Only Part Of The Democrats’ Moral Problems In America

By DEXTER DUGGAN The title of scholar Dinesh D’Souza’s new movie, Hillary’s America: The Secret History of the Democratic Party, might better be inverted, with the words about the party’s history coming before mention of Hillary Clinton and her America, because much of the movie isn’t about, but leads up to, her. And the party’s dismaying history is no secret, just neglected. Still, in this election year, highlighting her name is the topical thing to do. Or will it yet turn out that D’Souza should have highlighted Bernie Sanders instead? Or Elizabeth Warren? With new convulsions emerging from seriously damaging Democratic emails just as that party’s national convention was about to begin in Philadelphia, and more emails apparently still to…Continue Reading

Kaine Enabled

July 31, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on Kaine Enabled

By REY FLORES I could only imagine what the late Wanderer columnist Thomas Roeser would have to say concerning the current state of affairs today, especially about the circus that is the 2016 presidential fraud of an election, and specifically about “Catholic” Tim Kaine as the Democratic vice-presidential candidate. Roeser would probably have been as confounded, perplexed, bewildered, and ticked off as any of us are, but I am certain that he would definitely express himself with nothing less than brutal frankness about this whole mess. Since we are remembering him and before we continue, let’s please take a moment to pray for the repose of Mr. Roeser’s soul. Thank you. The latest “Catholic” politician to hit the main stage…Continue Reading

Defying Catholic Teaching . . . Kaine Joins Hillary On Her Mountain Of Corruption

July 30, 2016 Frontpage Comments Off on Defying Catholic Teaching . . . Kaine Joins Hillary On Her Mountain Of Corruption

By DEXTER DUGGAN One description of U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine immediately refuted itself. The Virginian was described as “squeaky clean” in a July 22 profile of Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton’s choice to be her vice presidential running mate. Even if Kaine actually had been so squeaky, he quickly would have disqualified himself from that description upon agreeing to run alongside the mountain of corruption, callousness, and deceit that calls itself Hillary. If you pride yourself on your high ethics, you don’t agree to help win the White House for a restlessly, relentlessly divisive woman who knows no lows as to how deeply she can descend. A man who lies down with vipers will get up filled with poison. Among her…Continue Reading
