“The Pill Kills Truth”. . . ALL Campaign Set For June 6

By REY FLORES “The subject about to be discussed is birth control. The words are not very proper, first of all, because those who believe in it actually believe neither in birth nor in control. Therefore, we shall never use the words again; they are finished” — Venerable Fulton Sheen. One thing that I have never understood, at least since I became involved in the pro-life movement full-time, is: How can you say that you are pro-life and not fight against contraception, mainly the Pill and other abortifacients? Contraception is the precursor to abortion. I don’t care if you are talking about actual abortifacients or condoms; anything that misdirects human sexuality and sexual behavior from what God intended it to…Continue Reading

But Some Good Omens . . . GOP Leaders Void Contract They Signed, Endorse Obama’s Blank Check

By DEXTER DUGGAN It’s supposed to be “the party of business,” but Republican Party leadership couldn’t seem to sell its way out of a wet paper bag. When customers aren’t buying, that should be a clue to change the product. However, GOP salesmen like the Senate’s Mitch McConnell and the House’s John Boehner insisted that signing with blind faith on the dotted line is a great deal. Don’t bother to read the fine print, said McConnell and Boehner. In fact, there’s no print to show the customers at all right now. Just trust that Barack Obama will deliver such a good buy later on with his international trade deal that everyone will be glad they inked away their jobs, incomes,…Continue Reading

Christian America

May 29, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on Christian America

By PATRICK J. BUCHANAN “This is a Christian nation,” said the Supreme Court in 1892. “America was born a Christian nation,” echoed Woodrow Wilson. Harry Truman affirmed it: “This is a Christian nation.” But in 2009, Barack Hussein Obama begged to differ: “We do not consider ourselves a Christian nation.” Comes now a Pew Research Center survey that reveals the United States is de-Christianizing at an accelerated rate. Whereas 86 percent of Americans in 1990 identified as Christians, by 2007, that was down to 78 percent. Today only 7 in 10 say they are Christians. But the percentage of those describing themselves as atheists, agnostics, or nonbelievers has risen to 23. That exceeds the Catholic population and is only slightly…Continue Reading

Now A “Protected” Class . . . School Board Allows “Transgenders” To Use Facilities Of Opposite Sex

May 28, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on Now A “Protected” Class . . . School Board Allows “Transgenders” To Use Facilities Of Opposite Sex

By DEXTER DUGGAN Barack Obama’s administration trying to force “transgender” students into the lavatories and locker rooms of the opposite sex frighteningly demonstrates there’s no limit to the radical “transformation” of this nation planned by the morally corrupt president. If Republican presidential nominee John McCain in 2008 had warned that a vote for Democrat Obama would mean boys and girls soon invading each other’s bathrooms at school, McCain would have been forced to withdraw his candidacy amid hurricanes of media outrage. And many other voters would have been astonished at McCain making such an assertion. Yet Obama and his administrative thugs are doing precisely that now, yet liberal media look away benignly. Should Obama be forced off the public stage…Continue Reading

Fr. Fessio Weighs In . . . Why Did Pope Choose Homosexuality-Activist Priest For Pontifical Council?

May 27, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on Fr. Fessio Weighs In . . . Why Did Pope Choose Homosexuality-Activist Priest For Pontifical Council?

By DEXTER DUGGAN Fr. Timothy Radcliffe, OP, former master general of the Dominican order, isn’t unique among certain well-known, dissident Church figures whose cultivation of a “Spirit of Vatican II” far exceeds anything officially done by that council a half-century ago. Still, many faithful Catholics were dismayed by the May 16 announcement that Pope Francis chose Radcliffe as a consultor of the Pontifical Council for Justice and Peace. Once again the direction of the Church seemed up for grabs, rekindling an issue of uncertainty for both the 2014 and 2015 sessions of the Synod on the Family. The announcement by Vatican Radio indicated nothing controversial about Radcliffe’s reputation. It said: “Ordained in 1971, Fr. Timothy is a longtime friend and…Continue Reading

Attorney Says . . . Hungarian Decision Should Bolster Those Seeking To Honor Humanity Of Unborn

May 26, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on Attorney Says . . . Hungarian Decision Should Bolster Those Seeking To Honor Humanity Of Unborn

By DEXTER DUGGAN A recent court ruling in Hungary against using parts of aborted babies for cosmetic purposes should provide inspiration to those fighting to tighten restrictions against related unethical practices in the United States, a pro-life attorney told The Wanderer. Steven Aden, a senior counsel with the Arizona-based Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF), said the decision “reflects the consensus in both Europe and the West that human beings in the womb are just that, human beings, and not commodities. . . . Life begins at conception.” Aden is director of the Center for Life Alliances at ADF, an organization that works across the U.S. and internationally to defend life, religious liberty, faith, and historic morality. He added that international laws…Continue Reading

PSLF

May 25, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on PSLF

By JAMES K. FITZPATRICK What do you think about PSLF, the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program? I haven’t heard much about it since it was established during George W. Bush’s time in office. I recently came across an op-ed column in my local newspaper here in Connecticut describing how it works. The author was Tiffany Williams, who describes herself as an “idealist,” a woman from a working-class background who took out student loans to finance her $50,000 a year education at Columbia University’s graduate program in social work. That Williams is going into social work, rather seeking work in the corporate world, is why she thinks of herself as an idealist. The problem Williams faced was paying off the loans.…Continue Reading

Louis C.K. And His Hatred For The Catholic Church

May 24, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on Louis C.K. And His Hatred For The Catholic Church

By REY FLORES “If the world hates you, know ye, that it hath hated me before you” (John 15:18). + + + While it’s no mystery that Catholics are hated and disparaged around the world far and wide, it still hurts me whenever I see people taking cheap shots at my Church. What is it about all the hatred that’s directed toward us? As we all know, there’s no love lost between the mainstream media industries of so-called entertainment and news and the Catholic Church. They despise us and I certainly don’t care much for them, either. It’s always interesting, however, to realize that the most rabid anti-Catholic celebrities would never have the guts to criticize another religion — even…Continue Reading

A Greek Orthodox Theologian . . . Pleads For A Petrine Primacy For The Patriarch Of Constantinople

May 23, 2015 Frontpage Comments Off on A Greek Orthodox Theologian . . . Pleads For A Petrine Primacy For The Patriarch Of Constantinople

By JAMES LIKOUDIS Centuries of violent polemics against the Bishop of Rome’s affirmations of a universal authority and jurisdiction over all the Churches of East and West have marked the history of Eastern Orthodoxy since the rejection of the famous Reunion-Council of Florence (1439). What is interesting — despite the mellowing of attitudes with the advent of the ecumenical movement and participation of Orthodox hierarchs and theologians in dialogues with Catholic theologians — is the continued resistance of certain Orthodox bishops and theologians to “papism and the pan-heresy of ecumenism.” Orthodox websites have widely circulated articles by theologians Protopresbyter George D. Metallinos of the University of Athens; Protopresbyter Theodore Zisis of the Theological School of the University of Thessalonica; Archimandrite…Continue Reading

Open Letter To U.S. Bishops Attending The Synod… The Church’s Teachings On The Family Need No Updating
