Planned Parenthood Office… Draws Attention For Shielding Alleged Serial Rapist

By DEXTER DUGGAN TEMPE, Ariz. — A small yellowish-tan strip mall here at 1250 E. Apache Blvd. includes ethnic restaurants and a coin-operated laundry convenient to students from the main campus at behemoth Arizona State University, located a short walk to the west. ASU has more than 60,000 students at the campus, and another 12,000 or so at its three other sites here in the metropolitan Phoenix area, making it the largest public university by enrollment in the United States. But the “L”-shaped little strip mall has even a bigger behemoth’s outlet as a tenant, a Planned Parenthood office. The third-of-a-million annual permissive abortions that government-funded Planned Parenthood inflicts would wipe out ASU’s total enrollment by roughly four and two-thirds…Continue Reading

Is Ferguson Our Future?

By PATRICK J. BUCHANAN “America is on trial,” said Rev. Al Sharpton from the pulpit of Greater St. Mark’s Family Church in Ferguson, Mo. At issue, the August 9 shooting death of Michael Brown, on the main street of that city of 22,000, a neighbor community to Jennings, where this writer lived in the mid-1960s. Brown, an 18-year-old African-American, was shot multiple times by Darren Wilson, a 28-year-old white police officer with an unblemished record in six years on the force in Jennings and Ferguson. From his patrol car, Wilson ordered Brown out of the street where he was walking and blocking traffic. A fight followed. Wilson appears to have been punched in the face. One police report says that…Continue Reading

Honoring The Dignity Of Our Miscarried Children

By REY FLORES Miscarriage is a very real and very painful reality for many of us. While society and the medical community for the most part will dismiss a miscarriage as yet another medical occurrence without merit or value, what it really is, is a death in our families. When my wife and I lost our sixth baby, it was at 12 weeks into Mary’s pregnancy. It was especially difficult because Mary announced that we were having a baby on our daughter Xotchil’s ninth birthday, as a sort of present to her. When we had to share the news of our miscarriage with our other children, particularly Xotchil, it was a sad day for our family. Having been blessed five…Continue Reading

A Movie Review… This Game Stands Tall

August 23, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on A Movie Review… This Game Stands Tall

By REY FLORES I’m not certain, but it sure seems like there is a Christian rebellion of sorts going on in the filmmaking industry, and I for one am glad of it. Sure, it isn’t the major Hollywood studios and its mostly independent studios producing quality Christian films, but it sure is a welcome respite from the usual fare of sex, drugs, violence and a seemingly endless stream of recycled comic-book heroes. In the new film When the Game Stands Tall, we welcome back one of our favorite actors who played probably the best Jesus in movie history. Jim Caviezel returns to the big screen as a middle-aged football coach who has his hands full with a football team that…Continue Reading

Vatican II: The Rejected Schemas

August 22, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on Vatican II: The Rejected Schemas

By JOHN YOUNG When the bishops assembled for the start of the Second Vatican Council in 1962, they were presented with a number of schemas prepared by the Holy Office (now called the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith). The majority of the bishops were not happy with them, so Pope John XXIII agreed to their request that the work be done again. Many bishops wanted a more pastorally toned style likely to have wider appeal, a style that they considered would resonate better with non-Catholics, as with those Catholics who would feel alienated by a clear-cut, dogmatic presentation. So new papers were prepared and became the basis of the final documents issued by Vatican II.

Redemption Is Not Condemnation

By DONALD DeMARCO The Internet is a vast ocean stocked with innumerable statements that beg to be redressed. I came across the following personal confession, though quite by accident, posted by a lapsed Catholic: “I grew up in a conservative Catholic family, went to church every Sunday, and studied Christian apologetics: My life was filled with fear, stress, anger, self-disgust, and felt like I was the lowest of the low on this planet, all taught to me by my very ‘Christ-like’ father and church community.” While the Internet grants everyone freedom of speech, it does not require them to practice sobriety of thought. Since the above citation could be seen as an unfair indictment against the Church, I thought it…Continue Reading

Blackstone Meeting . . . International Students Hear Call To Become Great Leaders

By DEXTER DUGGAN PHOENIX — Although many people began noticing moral degeneracy being thrust on society aggressively at the direction of Barack Obama in the White House, he was only continuing an elite strategy already well under way. Permissive abortion, homosexual disorientation, and other ills didn’t start with the Chicago messiah and weren’t confined to the United States. To take one example from ten years ago, The Family Reporter, newsletter of United Families International, in 2004 told of efforts to impose distorted morality in Latin America. Under the headline “Invasion of Latin America,” an article told of a meeting in Puerto Rico by the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) that brought up abortion and “reproductive rights.”…Continue Reading

Did Obama Ask Himself . . . What Right Does The U.S. Have To Take Other Countries’ Children?

By DEXTER DUGGAN PHOENIX — When conservative filmmaker and activist James O’Keefe released a dramatic video on August 11 of a rubber-faced terrorist easily wading across the Rio Grande River into Texas, there was another touch he could have added but didn’t. O’Keefe could have floated some little rubber ducks on the river separating the U.S. and Mexico and labeled them “fierce alligators.” Remember when Barack Obama pledged in 2011 that the border already was secure, but, the president said, some picky critics wouldn’t be satisfied until there were alligators on patrol? Some little duckies on the Rio would have had all the bite of Obama’s toothless border security.

Chicago’s Gang Murders … Letting A Crisis Go To Waste?

August 18, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on Chicago’s Gang Murders … Letting A Crisis Go To Waste?

By JAMES K. FITZPATRICK Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel has been associated with the phrase “Never let a crisis go to waste” since his days as President Obama’s chief of staff. Emanuel explained, “What I mean by that is an opportunity to do things you could not do before.” Which means expanding the size of government and increasing taxes. That’s not an accusation. It is what modern liberals do, whenever they get the chance, because they are convinced the state is the primary vehicle for achieving a just society. OK. But why, then, is Emanuel not doing more to solve the major problem facing his city? Night after night, weekend after weekend, we are hit with the stories of children being…Continue Reading

Reflections On Today’s Christian Persecutions

By REY FLORES “The violent attacks that are sweeping across northern Iraq cannot but awaken the consciences of all men and women of goodwill to concrete acts of solidarity by protecting those affected or threatened by violence and assuring the necessary and urgent assistance for the many displaced people as well as their safe return to their cities and their homes” — Pope Francis in a recent letter to the United Nations. +    +    + Sing a Little Louder is a story and pamphlet that many of us may already be familiar with. It is a story about an older man recounting a tale about his boyhood in Nazi Germany. In short, he tells about the church he attended being…Continue Reading
