Government Will Control You Before It Controls Climate

By TERENCE P. JEFFREY (Editor’s Note: Terence P. Jeffrey is the editor in chief of CNSnews.com. Creators Syndicate, www.creators.com, provided this column. Either way, government will take control of your life. The National Climate Assessment the Obama administration released this past week describes in Sisyphean terms the task government faces in limiting carbon dioxide emissions, which the assessment says make up 84 percent of the…Continue Reading

A Nature Cannot Be Defined By Imperfections

May 9, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on A Nature Cannot Be Defined By Imperfections

By DONALD DeMARCO The argument has been put forth that traditional marriage and same-sex “marriage” are not essentially different because, in some instances, a heterosexual union cannot produce offspring. Thus both forms of “marriage” are equal in those cases where there is no ability to procreate. This argument fails to take into consideration the nature of marriage and how certain imperfections, such as infertility, do not alter that nature. Infertility is not an integral part of the nature of marriage. It is an imperfection, a deprivation of a power that belongs to what marriage is in its wholeness. A same-sex “marriage” is not infertile because of an imperfection, but because it is not in the nature of same-sex partners to…Continue Reading

Culture Of Life 101 . . . “Profile: The United Nations Population Fund”

What makes UNFPA unique is that it has the full authority of the United Nations behind it and enjoys a guaranteed one billion dollars of income annually from the developed nations of the world. Unlike the many other UN agencies, population control is not a sideline or…Continue Reading

Poverty And The Papacy

May 7, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on Poverty And The Papacy

By DONALD DeMARCO The media’s infatuation with Pope Francis, and his deep concern for the poor, exemplified by his identification with il poverello of Assisi, has obscured the equally deep concern for the poor expressed by so many of his papal Predecessors. Although the “Good News” of the Gospel, which is reflected in every papal encyclical, is news that stays news, the news carried by the daily press is quickly forgotten. The historic event on April 27, 2014 brought four Popes together: Pope Francis and Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI, saying Mass, together with Pope John Paul II and Pope John XXIII being canonized. It was a momentous event, one not likely ever to be repeated. It is also an opportunity…Continue Reading

Of Psychic Phenomena And Heaven

May 6, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on Of Psychic Phenomena And Heaven

By JAMES K. FITZPATRICK Are psychic experiences and extrasensory perception real? I say they are, or can be. Beyond that, I think they provide an answer to the objections offered by nonbelievers who doubt the reality of Jesus’ promise of an afterlife. Why do I think psychic experiences are real? Because I had one. Just one, but it was so real and intense that I have no doubt about its authenticity. It is an experience I described years ago in The Wanderer. If by chance there is anyone reading this column today who remembers the earlier column, I ask you to bear with me. The context was different back then.

Lech Walesa . . . St. John Paul II Is The Torch To Light Our Future

ROME (ZENIT) — Former Polish President Lech Walesa who, together with St. John Paul II, led the fight against Soviet Communism, spoke at a Rome dinner April 25 held in honor of Saints John Paul II and John XXIII. Burning Babies’ Bodies For Energy . . . How Did Societies Slip So Far Into The Flames?

May 4, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on Burning Babies’ Bodies For Energy . . . How Did Societies Slip So Far Into The Flames?

By DEXTER DUGGAN Society has become a burning building whose basement is bottomless. Trapped people keep sinking deeper as the flames rage all around. It’s a descent into hell without end. It’s Dante’s Inferno. But while the force of Satan is felt everywhere, you still don’t see him because the path only continues descending toward his lair. Why won’t it ever end? How did it get started? Abortion on demand was legalized one way or another as a step forward. The back-alley abortion mills moved forth onto Main Street as legal “pro-choice” mills. Abortion becomes another type of birth control. Women start being maimed by the legal abortions. The descent doesn’t stop.

Race And Freedom

May 3, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on Race And Freedom

By ANDREW P. NAPOLITANO Cliven Bundy should be happy for the public revelation of the private comments of fellow racist Donald Sterling; the latter has replaced the former as the person Americans most love to hate. These two bigots recently spewed racial hatred: Bundy suggesting that African-Americans might do well to consider slavery over freedom, and Sterling offering disjointed comments that reveal his evident beliefs in white supremacy. Bundy is a Nevada rancher who became a hero to the right for standing up to the heavy hand of federal suppression of property rights in the West. He and his family had been grazing their cattle on land they believed was theirs or the state of Nevada’s for more than 100…Continue Reading

“Rumors Of Wars”… New Movie Explores Future With Christians Hunted Down, Shot

May 2, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on “Rumors Of Wars”… New Movie Explores Future With Christians Hunted Down, Shot

By DEXTER DUGGAN Americans are on edge because of widely separated terror bombings in their nation, but it doesn’t have to be this way. University students — and presumably everyone else — are told there’s an answer. The federal government mandates that each person be implanted with an all-purpose chip in the hand. The plan is “to unify the world in peace and security.” Reluctant to go along? “Sir, this is a mandate from the government….The use of this chip is required, and noncompliance has serious consequences.” It’s a new movie — Rumors of Wars — that takes what may be only a few steps into the future from our current reality of a lawless president who constantly sows strife…Continue Reading

The Frog In The Pot

May 2, 2014 Frontpage Comments Off on The Frog In The Pot

By JAMES K. FITZPATRICK Mark Twain’s story about how a frog will leap to save its life if dropped suddenly into a pot of boiling water, but sit and permit itself to be boiled to death if the heat is turned up gradually, is cited often by commentators. That is because it makes an important point: People will tolerate changes that they would find intolerable on first hearing if the changes are introduced gradually enough. Think about how our forebears would have reacted when the idea of a federal income tax was first put on the table in the early years of the 20th century — if they were told about the income taxes we are paying these days. Or…Continue Reading
