Be Not Afraid — A Little Louder

By REY FLORES

A few years back, I found a pamphlet in the back of a church titled Sing a Little Louder. Some of you may also be familiar with it as well.

It is a short, but moving, World War II-era story about a German church which was located near some railroad tracks where Nazi trains used to pass by during church services. When the congregants used to hear the screams and cries of those on the trains headed to the death camps, they would “sing a little louder” to muffle the sound.

Perhaps today that is what we are doing to ourselves. We aren’t necessarily singing a little louder, but we are certainly indulging ourselves with all sorts of distractions, in order to avoid facing the moral collapse in our country.

As I write this, the annual ritual of GMO snacks and beer and yelling at the TV is once again about to take over living rooms across America.

Who doesn’t want to sit in front of a giant mega-size flat-screen TV, cheer on a bunch of overpaid football players, and eat and drink to the point of nausea? Who wouldn’t want to watch the supposedly funny and sexy $4 million-a-minute ads that try to sell us even more garbage that we don’t need, spending money we don’t have?

Oh yes, it’s the Super Bowl I’m talking about!

Even better yet, last year’s NFL Super Bowl champs, the Baltimore Ravens, prostituted themselves to none other than Obamacare, helping to push this disastrous plan to the hapless idiots who watch the NFL week after week.

Isn’t that enough to make you want to not only skip watching the game, but smash your television set to bits?

And how about the recent broadcast of the Grammy Awards, which was nothing more than a showcase of flaming homosexuality and prime-time porno?

I bet most of you never thought you’d live to see such things spewed right into your living rooms, straight from the intersection of Hollywood and Hell.

Forgive me if I sound too pessimistic, but I don’t think it’s a secret that our nation is on the fast track to financial disaster, and, if so, as in the Great Depression, many Americans will be left out in the cold.

Moral collapse is all around us like one of those fantastic Irwin Allen disaster flicks from the 1970s!

The difference between the Great Depression and today’s political and social climate is that there are many more high-tech hijinks, mainstreamed immorality, and a dictator who is running our nation as if it were his own private playground.

I realize that I may sound like the proverbial street person holding up a cardboard sign that reads “The End is Near,” but it seems as if hardly anyone is noticing the threat.

Maybe I am listening to too much gloom and doom talk radio and spending too much time on the Internet reading various conspiracy scenarios, but what else are we left to do? Since we cannot trust the mainstream news propaganda machine, we have to seek out answers from some place other than what the government-run news sources spoon-feed the public.

But I sometimes think I’d rather side with the “tinfoil hat”-wearing conspiracy theorists because at least there’s a 50/50 percent chance they’re right! With the government, I know they’re pretty much 99 percent bad.

Maybe some people can live by the “ignorance is bliss” or the “I’ll stick my head in the sand” philosophies, but not me. I never want Jesus to ask me if I did everything I could to fight evil and not be able to give Him an affirmative answer.

Fatima Prayers Working

Today, Russia is at times acting to protect Christians, outlawing homosexuality and seemingly transforming itself into what America used to be. It looks like the conversion of that nation is happening through the consecration of Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

Meanwhile, back on our shores, we are criminalizing Christianity, celebrating homosexuality, and becoming the Marxist country we once pointed the finger at.

We may need the Holy Father to consecrate the United States of America to the Immaculate Heart of Mary.

“Be Not Afraid”

Blessed John Paul II said these memorable words to us decades ago as he began his papacy. Today we must remember these words and share them with others.

A friend expressed her fear to me today after she read a cryptic message on Twitter from Drudge Report founder Matt Drudge that said: “Have an exit plan.”

I simply reminded her to stay in a state of grace, attend Mass, pray, fast, and receive the sacraments as much as possible. Pray the rosary, and that is the only “exit plan” we’ll need. Come hell or high water, we must keep our eyes on the eternal reward with our Lord in Heaven.

Even with martyrdom, there may be great pain, but the reward is eternal and the reward is with Christ.

Be not afraid indeed.
