I don’t know about you, but I hate it when politicians — or any other public figures, for that matter — use their religion to gain support for some political position they are taking.
I hate it, but it doesn’t stop them from doing it and the media capitalize on it in their headlines. It gains the politician attention and sometimes even gains them support and votes.
President Joseph Biden has capitalized on his Catholic religion all through his political career and he hasn’t decreased it during his current role as president. It hasn’t seemed to matter whether what he does or says agrees with his official faith, he just goes ahead and resists any reaction to his actions. Apparently in his mind, he is above all that and has no obligation to react to any criticism.
Have you heard any criticism from him of the increasing abortion rate in this country? I haven’t, despite the fact that abortion is one of the acts that his religion condemns.
Have you heard any comments from him about the astonishing number of cases of clergy abuse that have just recently become public? I haven’t, even though the situation is really a national public scandal for the Catholic Church.
I realize that some of these issues he has no control over, but the reality is that he is human, is an active member of that faith, and in my mind, should have some comments as to the situation. So far, he says nothing.
It leaves people with two choices: that he is afraid to speak out against those scandals OR that he approves of them and believes it is best to say nothing.
As it is clear — I do not agree with his choices. He shows no courage.
Now another one. This time, this week, a point raised by Catholic League President Bill Donohue. He criticized Biden and his administration of “stoking the fire” of racism in our country.
It stems from the commencement address Biden gave at Howard University, on May 13. In that speech, President Biden told the graduates of that black university that “white supremacy is the most dangerous terrorist threat to the homeland.”
White supremacy? Where did he get that?
According to Donohue, Biden is doing the opposite of what he promised during his campaign, and instead of uniting the country, “he is dividing us along racial lines.”
Given what this country has endured with the black riots, the attacks on police, on businesses and more — to blame it all on white people is shameful. We are enduring increasing crime rates and unfortunately, most of them stem from towns and cities that have Democrat mayors and district attorneys.
We are enduring a flood of illegal aliens crossing our open border and being moved into the interior of this country, plus a flood of illegal drugs, mainly fentanyl, which is killing thousands of Americans of all ages.
All of this is happening under the Biden administration and the man says nothing about the damage and destruction they are causing. We are dealing with hardcore criminals and hardcore drugs. Americans need the support of our president and his administration to put an end to it — before indeed, our country is destroyed.
But so far. Nothing. White Americans need his support but so do black Americans who are dealing with an increase in crime that is astonishing. According to Donohue, “no demographic group has suffered more than black Americans.”
For a party – Democrat — and a president, Biden — to ignore this aspect of the crime problem is shameful. For him to blame it on the white population of this country is more than shameful. It is, in fact, criminal, in my opinion.
Americans don’t want or need a president who blames our crime problems on a population sector based on its skin color, namely white.
Donohue said, that instead of making “race-baiting” speeches, it would behoove Biden “to show support for the African American community by speaking out against the soft-on-crime policies that his Party is promoting.”
I know these are not the policies of the Church in which he claims membership.
