California Killing

By BARBARA SIMPSON

California is a state that has a lot to brag about — a wonderful climate, the entire environment, the successful commercial ventures that have flourished there, the wide and excellent educational system, and certainly a population that represents so many ethnicities and religious beliefs.

While there is now a slow movement of residents out-of-state, it is still a place that residents have much to be proud of — as long as they leave out the terribly high taxes that they pay for the “privilege” of living there and what those taxes are used for.

But there is something else going on in the state that many, if not most, Californians may not be aware of. As reported by San Francisco Gate, Gov. Gavin Newsom over the last two years has signed enough pro-abortion bills into law that make the state the most pro-abortion state in the country. All this at a time when the annual abortion rate was about 154,000 abortions annually, as reported by the Guttmacher Institute.

I, for one, do not find that something of which to be proud, but this is the world we live in. I don’t find it “brag worthy,” but the governor does. He has bragged that California is doing more to expand the killing of unborn babies in abortion than any other state.

“Our legislature has been on the frontlines of this fight, and no other legislative body in the country is doing more to protect these fundamental rights — I’m proud to stand with them again and sign these critical bills into law.”

In gaining the passage of the bills in late 2022, Newsom worked with the abortion industry and advocacy groups through the California Future of Abortion Council, which is a coalition that HE formed in 2021.

No doubt, he approves of abortion.

Among these 12 new laws that he has signed are ones that protect abortionists and abortion facilities from lawsuits and prosecution. The bills provide more funding for abortions and for abortion travel. They offer incentives to medical students to become abortionists and to allow nurses to abort unborn babies with no doctor present. He continues to brag that California is expanding the killing of the unborn.

Newsom is quoted as saying, “An alarming number of states continue to outlaw abortion and criminalize women, and it’s more important than ever to fight like hell for those who need these essential services.”

It should be noted that such pro-life laws specifically exempt women from punishment. Only the abortionists and those who help them can face prosecution for killing unborn babies in abortions. He doesn’t mention that.

As signed, CA Assembly Bill 2223 prohibits coroners from holding an inquest after fetal death “related to or following known or suspected self-induced or criminal abortion.”

State Sen. Melissa Melendez (R., Lake Elsinore) called the bill a “grotesque callousness toward the unborn.” Under the bill, if a woman attempts to abort her child, but it’s born alive, it can be allowed to die or can be killed, and no one will investigate or hold the woman responsible.

The governor did veto one pro-abortion bill. It would have provided taxpayer money for a new pilot program to expand abortions in five counties. When asked why the veto, he said, it was because of “lower than expected revenues.”

As always, it all comes down to money!

State Senate President Pro Tem Toni Atkins praised the signing of the bills, claiming that abortions are “essential health care” and that the new laws ban authorities and technology companies in the state from helping law enforcement in pro-life states investigate abortions.

In addition to signing the new laws, Gov. Newsom also signed a California budget which included $200 million specifically dedicated to expanding abortions and setting up a new, government-run website that tells women from other states how to come to California to procure an abortion!

That budget also included $40 million to pay for abortions for mothers who do not qualify for Medicaid funded abortions or do not have such insurance — and, $15 million to help pro-abortion groups advertise and promote abortions. It’s reported that California has more than 168 abortions facilities — the most in the country.

Californians, your tax dollars at work!

In addition, there are proposed laws in the state which would require all public colleges and universities to provide abortions on campus.

I wonder if parents are aware of this and that their taxes will go to paying for abortions for their children and they won’t even be told about it.

“Big Brother has spoken” — whether you like it or not.

As for those who might be interested, Gov. Gavin Newsom claims to be a practicing Roman Catholic.
