“Failure In Chief”…Another Lost War

Uh, no, I don’t think so.
How about “aging, incompetent, self-centered, possible traitor”?
I know, that’s nasty, but when I look at what has transpired in the last week and see the headlines in this country and from around the world in countries that have been our allies, it does make one wonder.
It makes me wonder what happened to my country, the land that supports our freedom and those worldwide who aspire to freedom.
It makes me wonder, and I don’t like what I see: the man who is president, Joseph Biden, leading us into a massive military defeat and a future that promises more of the same, by enemies he refuses to name.
What I see is that the United States of America, my country, has lost a war that we’ve been immersed in for decades. It’s been a war that cost us at least a trillion dollars and has killed and maimed thousands of our best and brightest who volunteered to fight for our freedom and our reputation as a defender of that freedom.
It was a war that began as a means to get the Islamic militant killers who carried out the attack on us on 9/11 — an attack that thrust us into what has turned out to be a never-ending fight against a people who want nothing more than to see our total destruction. That was their goal then, and that is their goal now. In fact, they are empowered because of how Joe Biden botched the war in and for Afghanistan.
We lost and they won. The idea was to defeat the Taliban, but the outcome of how Biden handled these last few weeks is that the militant Taliban is now in control of that country and has gained the support of militant Islam across the world. Have no doubt: They are the enemy and their goal is to win.
What we are faced with is a humanitarian crisis of immense proportions. Initially, we were told that we would evacuate the Americans in Afghanistan and the Afghans who worked with us during the war. At first, we were told it would be a safe evacuation.
But not now.
Complicating the situation is that Biden withdrew our planes and drones from Bagram Air Base in July without telling our allies. That left only the airport at Kabul where evacuation flights could depart. The problem is that the area is now controlled by the Taliban, who are making it virtually impossible for many to get to the airport for departure.
U.S. officials — as of this writing on August 20 — say there are still more than 15,000 Americans needing to be evacuated and at least 70,000 Afghans — those who worked for the U.S., and their families.
By the way, did you have any idea we had so many Americans in Afghanistan? Why were they there, and what did they all do? No one really says. I have no idea why so many would want to be in the middle of a war zone.
Because of the political situation, Americans now have to negotiate with the Taliban to arrange for the departure of any of those people.
Keep in mind that originally, the Biden administration said it would guarantee safe passage out of the country. Forget that. For countless Afghans, that safety is now in question.
Washington talks a good story about saving these people and that they will be relocated in the United States — that raises questions as to who they are and where they will be placed.
Another aspect of their relocation in the United States has to do with COVID. These people mostly have not been tested or vaccinated, and questions have been raised as to whether their placement in the U.S. will spread the virus here.
Something else Biden says nothing about.
The one thing Biden does say is that none of this is his fault or responsibility. Not surprisingly, the blame is placed at the door of Donald Trump.
I don’t know about you, but I am more than tired of the “Trump blame mantra.”
All I can say is: Grow up, Joe! You are president now and, as my favorite Democratic president (Harry Truman) once said, “The buck stops here” — meaning the Oval Office.
That’s where you are, Joe. You are it.
You screwed up, and you shamed our great country.
