Ignores Brutality Of Abortion…. Joe Biden Slams “Brutality” Of Draft To Overturn Roe

By STEVEN ERTELT

CHICAGO (LifeNews) — During a fundraising speech to top Democrat donors on May 11, Joe Biden slammed the “brutality” of the Supreme Court’s draft ruling overturning Roe v. Wade but ignored the brutality of how babies are dismembered in abortions.

Biden spoke at a Democratic National Committee Fundraiser that Wednesday night at the Marriott Marquis Chicago, where he devoted several minutes to blasting Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s draft of a ruling to reverse Roe, which allowed abortion on demand throughout pregnancy.

Biden told the crowd that “if this draft opinion in the Supreme Court turns out to be the opinion of the Supreme Court, it is everything that some of us talked about before.”

Biden bragged about how he led the fight to stop conservative Supreme Court nominee Robert Bork, who could have been an earlier vote to overturn Roe years ago and protect millions of babies from abortions. And then he went on to discuss the “brutality” of the draft opinion.

“(W)hat we’re talking about here. It’s not only the brutality of taking away a woman’s right to control her own body and all the damage that does physically, psychologically, practically,” Biden said. “But it also, if you read the opinion — if it turns out to be the same opinion — basically says there is no such thing as a right to privacy.”

Biden then went into a lecture about abortion with the typical bumper sticker slogans that ignore how abortion doesn’t affirm women’s rights and deny the right to life of unborn babies.

“Mark my words: If that decision holds, it’s not only we’re going to be fighting for a woman’s right to control her own body and the brutality that goes along with having to give birth in a circumstance that is something beyond what — that can be tolerated, but what else is going to happen?

“Mark my words: They’re going to go after the right of the — Supreme Court decision on the right of same-sex marriage. They’re going to go after — they’re going to — we’re going to be back to Griswold vs. Connecticut, where there was a time in Connecticut law where it said a married couple, in the privacy of their own bedroom, cannot use contraception; it was a decision — the government can make the decision you can’t do that.

“You’re going to see these decisions up for grabs and further split the United States. We’re going to be arguing about things we shouldn’t have to argue about.

“So I think it’s important that as we go forward — and you’re going to hear me talking more about not only what we’ve done, but what they’re trying to do.

“Things we shouldn’t have to argue about?”

The destruction of little babies in abortions should be at the top of that list.

Biden’s remarks came just hours after senators defeated a radical pro-abortion bill that would legalize abortions up to birth nationwide.

Senate Republicans, with the help of Democrat Sen. Joe Manchin, voted May 11 to defeat a Democrat bill that would overturn every pro-life law in America and legalize abortions up to birth.

Although Americans are in favor of overturning Roe and 11 recent polls show Americans are pro-life on abortion, Democrats pushed the radical bill anyway.

A new report from Politico said the Supreme Court is still on track to overturn Roe v. Wade and an ultimate decision on the Dobbs case is expected by the end of June.

Politico, which initially published the news of the leaked draft of a Supreme Court decision overturning Roe, indicates no conservative members of the Supreme Court have changed their position. In fact, no competing draft has been authored and there is not even a single written dissent that has reportedly been published.

Chief Justice John Roberts was not counted in the vote in the 5-3 draft that was initially released and is thought to be trying to persuade one member of the conservative majority to abandon the position overturning Roe in favor of upholding Mississippi’s 15-week abortion ban and allowing states more latitude to ban late abortions without overturning Roe entirely.

But, according to Politico, he’s not finding any takers. That likely means he will side with liberals against overturning Roe but upholding the law.

“However, the draft majority opinion wound up being written by Alito, and its strident text signals it is unlikely Roberts will be on board,” it reports.

As all this is happening, Alito and his family have reportedly been moved to a location that will not be revealed. Last week, Alito canceled an appearance at the Fifth U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals’ judicial conference. Although no official reason was given for the cancellation, the move came only days after the leak.

Late Friday, May 6 Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas had a message for the radical abortion activists who think they can bully the Supreme Court into revising its draft opinion overturning Roe v. Wade: You can’t bully us.

Thomas spoke at the 11th Circuit judicial conference in Atlanta where he discussed the Supreme Court’s leaked draft opinion for the first time.

“We can’t be an institution that can be bullied into giving you just the outcomes you want. The events from earlier this week are a symptom of that,” Thomas said, according to reports.

Chief Justice John Roberts spoke at the same conference Thursday, May 5 where he called the leak “absolutely appalling.” He, too, said the violence and attacks from pro-abortion activists would not influence the Supreme Court’s final decision.

Pro-life pregnancy centers and pro-life advocates already have been the targets of vandalism, violence, and harassment this past week in response to the news. Some Catholic churches have been, too, and more seem likely in the days ahead. Abortion activists bombed a pro-life group’s office, causing extensive damage.

Abortion activists are trying to intimidate U.S. Supreme Court justices to change their mind and uphold Roe after the leaked draft opinion showed the majority voting to overturn the infamous 1973 ruling. The draft is not final, judges can change their minds, and it is not clear when the High Court will issue its final ruling on the abortion case Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health, but many believe the court will overturn Roe and allow states to protect unborn babies again.

Along with the violence of abortion against unborn babies, threats and violence against pro-life advocates also have increased in recent years. LifeNews.com has documented reports of hundreds of incidents in recent years, including bomb threats, assaults, death threats, arson, and vandalism.

And violence by abortion activists likely will continue as the U.S. Supreme Court gets ready to issue its final ruling on Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health this summer. If the court overturns Roe, the Guttmacher Institute predicts that 26 states would ban abortions.\

Since 1973, more than 63 million unborn babies and hundreds of mothers have died in supposedly “safe, legal” abortions.
