BROOKLYN, N.Y. — New York’s Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has resigned after serious allegations that he physically abused four women.
One of the women said, “All of a sudden, he just slapped me, open-handed and with great force, across the face, landing the blow directly onto my ear.” Manning Barish told The New Yorker, “It was horrendous. It just came out of nowhere. My ear was ringing. I lost my balance and fell backward onto the bed. I sprang up, but at this point there was very little room between the bed and him. I got up to try to shove him back, or take a swing, and he pushed me back down. He then used his body weight to hold me down, and he began to choke me. The choking was very hard. It was really bad. I kicked. In every fibre [sic], I felt I was being beaten by a man.”
In apparent hypocrisy, Schneiderman as a former state senator introduced a law that “created specific penalties for strangulation,” according to The New Yorker.
According to The New York Post, another woman, Tanya Selvaratnam, said her year-long relationship with Schneiderman became a “nightmare in the bedroom.” Schneiderman demanded she call him “Master” and demanded that Selvaratnam say she was “his property.” He referred to her as his “brown slave.” Schneiderman slapped her, spit on her, beat her during sex, drank heavily, and tried to force her to drink.
Two other women related similar stories about Schneiderman, who said in a statement May 7 that he engaged in “roleplaying,” but all four women said he became violent without their consent.
Following these shocking revelations, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo asked for Schneiderman to resign. Others joined the chorus of voices demanding his resignation. Within hours of the stories becoming public, Schneiderman resigned.
Before these shocking allegations of physical abuse and demeaning acts toward women, Schneiderman used his office to abuse the legal system and innocent people with whom he disagreed, according to Liberty Counsel. He allegedly threatened some of the women not to reveal his abuse or else he would tap their phones and surveil them. He prided himself on being part of the resistance.
Liberty Counsel is defending Scott Fitchett Jr., a pre-K teacher whom Schneiderman targeted because he peacefully shared the Gospel of hope on public sidewalks wherever he goes, including outside a New York abortion facility. Schneiderman’s office was informed of Fitchett’s innocence by a security guard for the Choices Women’s Medical Clinic (Choices) in the town of Jamaica, N.Y., before he even brought the lawsuit.
Schneiderman sued Fitchett and 12 other people anyway. During a one-month hearing that recently concluded, Schneiderman presented no evidence of any wrongdoing by Fitchett.
When Schneiderman announced his lawsuit against peaceful pro-life counselors last year, he said, “We are not a nation where you can choose your point of view,” and that pro-life Christians “run their mouths” with “unlawful, un-American rhetoric.” He called Christians’ efforts to counsel women considering abortion and to advocate for the rights of the unborn “horrifying” and “illegal.”
Schneiderman’s star witness, Mary Lou Greenberg, is the spokesperson for the Revolutionary Communist Party, USA that publicly advocates the violent overthrow of the United States. Liberty Counsel exposed her praise for mass-murder Mao Zedong in a video on C-Span. Greenberg is also the director of the “escort” program for Choices.
Greenberg emphatically testified under oath that she saw Fitchett step in front of a patient approaching Choices, impeding the woman’s access to the abortion facility. When Liberty Counsel provided a video of this supposed incident, which showed Fitchett doing nothing more than peacefully preaching the Gospel, Greenberg sheepishly retreated and said, “I might have been mistaken.”
Another key Schneiderman witness, Pearl Brady, admitted under oath she used a fake Facebook page to spy on pro-lifers.
Still another radical Schneiderman witness was Merle Hoffman, president and CEO of Choices. She said the “act of abortion positions women at their most powerful” because abortion gives women the “power — and the responsibility — of taking life” so that they may control their own lives. Hoffman acknowledges the obvious — that abortion is the taking of human life. She even talked to her own unborn child before aborting it, saying, “I held my stomach and said aloud, ‘Sorry, little one, it’s just not time’.”
“The shocking allegations of physical abuse and dehumanizing treatment of women by Eric Schneiderman is the epitome of hypocrisy and cannot be tolerated,” said Mat Staver, founder and chairman of Liberty Counsel.
“Schneiderman has also abused the legal system by using his position as attorney general to target innocent people with whom he disagrees. His freewheeling use of the legal system to prosecute our client when the facts and the law are overwhelmingly against him is shocking. It comes as no surprise that Schneiderman’s private life has also clouded his public life.”
