According to the National Library of Medicine, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a type of anxiety disorder. It can occur after you have gone through an extreme emotional trauma that involved the threat of injury or death.
With all due respect to all of our military active-duty veterans, I wanted to use this term in an analogical sense to express how many of us feel today. The culture of death that surrounds us can be depleting on so many levels of our everyday existence in emotional, psychological, physical, and spiritual ways.
The bombshell stream of bad news in today’s world is enough to shellshock all of us into a sort of zombie-like apathy and complacence. I have often thought how difficult it must be for those who deny God to be able to survive in this cultural war zone.
Has anyone ever asked you the question: “Can you believe it?” People usually like to ask each other this question after hearing about the latest disgusting stunt by any given politician, Hollywood actor, or Planned Parenthood.
We also like to ask each other this same question after a major earth-shattering event like 9/11 or Obama’s two terms in office. It’s a question that many want answered in all of these examples.
My answer to that question is almost always a resounding, “Yes.” It’s gotten easier and easier for us to accept the latest scandal, lie, or deception perpetrated upon us.
As reported this past week in LifeSiteNews, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation is funding the development of a contraceptive microchip that can be remotely controlled to release hormones that can act as abortifacients into a woman’s body for up to 16 years.
Ben Johnson, a LifeSiteNews writer, comments: “Both the chip’s potential to take a life and the potential privacy concerns have drawn criticism.”
Can you believe it? Yes, I absolutely can, given the history of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and its bottomless pit of money.
It doesn’t end there.
Recently, corporations have gotten into the culture wars battle. The proverbial envelope is being pushed by many companies in marketing their products and services to the allegedly increasing homosexual population.
Burger King is the latest in a long line of well-known brands that recently launched a mini campaign, pushing the world’s first known “gay hamburger.” The Proud Whopper made its debut, not surprisingly, in San Francisco at one of the biggest annual homosexual debauchery fests.
I am of the opinion that these big companies don’t really care about homosexuals, but are often testing the waters to see what kind of reaction the public would have to their supposed support for homosexuality.
In Burger King’s case, it was a gamble that may pay off for them, given that so many of the younger demographic is already somewhat brainwashed into accepting homosexuality.
It’s all about money at the end of the day.
My point is that homosexual propaganda has reached peak levels and people, especially younger generations, are being indoctrinated into believing that there is nothing wrong with a homosexual culture. A ten-year-old kid growing up in 2014 is going to be much more open to the idea of homosexuality than a ten-year-old kid was in 2004.
In addition to making a lot of money, the entertainment industry has also always been used to sway public opinion and brainwash people. Just a couple of weeks ago, a pro-abortion film titled Obvious Child, funded by and filmed partly on location at a Planned Parenthood facility, had a limited release in theaters across the country.
Obvious Flop
As expected, NARAL jumped on the bandwagon, touting Obvious Child as the rom-com (romantic comedy) women have been waiting and clamoring for from Hollywood. At the time of this writing, the film was getting dismal box office returns, even though Planned Parenthood President Cecile Richards had been shilling the movie herself personally.
This is what I’m talking about. Even 20 years ago, which isn’t a long time at all, a “romantic comedy” about abortion would have been unheard of and even ridiculed. Today, the dismemberment of an unborn child is considered acceptable subject matter for a “romantic comedy.”
I’m not sure about any of you, but I am feeling somewhat battle-weary from all of the ungodly assaults on our society and our psyche. More recently, I almost always get to bed every night with a heavy heart and a limited view of the future.
Thank God for His graces and blessings and for our faith in Him. I cannot imagine what it must be like to go through this journey not knowing Him. Life is difficult enough for us who do try to follow God’s will and His rules and plans for us.
Our faith in our Lord is our saving grace. Facing the demons every day in this battle wears on one’s soul, but we all know that we have refuge in His love, His mercy, and in all of the sacraments of our Church.
Next time you are faced with the wrath or anger of a loved one or a stranger, think about the PTSD that person may be experiencing as well.
Let’s pray for each other and remind each other of God’s love for us.
