Our Vindictive Culture

By REY FLORES

We have all known political correctness as a way of life for years now. It seems that everyone gets offended by one thing or another, but as we spiral out of control into the unknown future, it’s no longer about pointing out political incorrectness — today it’s about punishing the accused in every way possible.

Let’s start with today’s COVID crisis. Simply by choosing not to wear a silly face mask or refusing to get inoculated with some questionable vaccines, some people are being ostracized and singled out as being a terrible person who doesn’t care about anyone but themselves.

That’s crazy thinking. I know it doesn’t seem like it, but we still have medical freedoms to make our own choices regarding our health and the health of our children. The catch today, however, is that like World War II-era Europe, people are being asked for their “papers.”

Many businesses, concerts, and sporting events are restricting anyone who doesn’t have proof of having been vaccinated or show a COVID card with recent negative test results. Many employers are now demanding that their employees take the jabs if they want to remain employed. And of course, we have Joe Biden’s recent decree, ordering all employers with more than 100 workers to enforce vaccinations.

Imagine that. Working for a company for, let’s say, 20 years. Now, because you might be apprehensive about taking these new vaccines, your livelihood can get taken away just like that. I hope the lawsuits start getting filed against businesses who are forcing their employees to make a very difficult choice.

I don’t care much for professional or collegiate sports, and most of today’s musical acts are so terrible anyway that I won’t miss going to events that get canceled. Not to mention the astronomical amount of money these tickets cost today. Sports teams are also now imposing restrictions on the unvaccinated players, causing further divisions amongst people.

Air travel is now also something we won’t be able to participate in if we aren’t going along with the overreaching government plans.

Today’s push for the jab is something like the ongoing forced sterilization of women in Third World countries, and the infamous Tuskegee experiment that started in 1932 against poor black men in Alabama who had rampant cases of syphilis. Many were treated with ineffective aspirin and other placebos, and despite penicillin being introduced in 1947, the experiments continued into the early 1970s.

Another example from current headlines is the Senate Bill 8 in Texas that prohibits any abortions after a heartbeat is detected from an unborn child. The “heartbeat bill” came into effect on September 1. That sent the pro-abortion zealots into a frenzy, trying to find ways to block this law in whatever devious ways their warped minds could conjure up.

A feminist group in Texas released a list of corporate donors and businesses who have supported the legislators who supported this bill. Again we see pure vindictiveness trying to publicly shame those who are pro-life.

As Newsweek recently reported: “The CEO of gaming company Tripwire Interactive stepped down after receiving backlash for comments praising Texas’ controversial law virtually banning all abortions after six weeks, the company announced in a tweet Monday night. John Gibson tweeted on Friday that he was ‘proud’ of the U.S. Supreme Court for declining to block a Texas law that would ban virtually all abortions after six week in what reproductive rights activists are calling a threat to Roe v. Wade. The court voted 5-4, with Chief Justice John Roberts joining the three liberal judges in dissent.” Again, vindictiveness.

What is vindictiveness? According to the Merriam-Webster dictionary, vindictiveness is defined as “disposed to seek revenge: vengeful, intended to cause anguish or hurt.” It sure seems like vindictiveness to me when people are being harassed to the point of making a huge life-changing decision like stepping down from a company that you were the CEO of.

Another recent example of our vindictive society is a local one here in Omaha, involving a restaurant that had been a staple of the community for 44 years. When I moved here almost two years ago, I started to make it our go-to place for me and my sons to have Sunday breakfast. Well, that was short-lived, because after only a couple of months after we started our tradition, the whole George Floyd, Black Lives Matter episode blew up.

The restaurant had one breakfast named after Confederate General Robert E. Lee. The blowup came about just because of this, and because one family member of the restaurant posted something on social media saying something like All Lives Matter. The BLM and Antifa goons came out in full force to protest and intimidate both proprietors and customers alike. It didn’t matter that many of the restaurants patrons are black.

I’m not sure how much worse it’s going to get, but it will worsen at the rate things are going as you read this. Let’s just stay faithful to God and try and get along as best as possible without ever being poisoned by vindictiveness.
