The Real Reproductive Right And Its Real Enemy

By TOM TAKASH

What does the often-heard phrase “Women’s Reproductive Rights” mean? If one were to just see the phrase in a newspaper or magazine with no exposure to the real world, one might conclude that the supporters of it must maintain that women have the right to have children, as well as the right to remain childless.

In practice, however, a different meaning is obvious when we come face to face with the fanatically angry pro-abortion crowd. To them, the real meaning is solely that women have the right to murder one’s unborn and, in some cases, one’s newly born child. Has anyone ever heard of abortion advocates (Planned Parenthood, for one) vociferously cheering for a woman’s unfettered right to have as many children as she wants, and not just cheering for a woman’s right to kill her unborn children?

Oh, I’m sure that confronted with that fact, they would fain love for children and claim that every woman has a right to have at least one child. But with their so-called concern for the planet, you can bet they would really praise government limits on that right, too, even to the extent that a time could come when they will support the government’s right to ban all new births!

Since that is the case, who then is the real enemy of “Women’s Reproductive Rights”? Is it someone who stands outside an abortion mill praying and offering a hand to save mothers and their unborn children? Is it a Pro-Life Clinic that shelters a young girl who is pressured to kill her unborn child in her womb by her boyfriend, or family and friends? Could it be a father who prays that his unborn child will be allowed to live, while standing helplessly before a judge who tells him that it is not his right to intervene? What about the couple who offer to give their time and lives to adopting the unborn should a mother consider giving birth but not be able to raise her child? Or can it possibly be the unborn little girl or boy, who awaits his or her chance to live and to be loved after birth?

No, it is none of the above, for all of them are crying out for the right of reproduction, the right of an unborn to live. In the final analysis, there is only one real enemy of reproductive rights. He is the one who continually denies the right to reproduce, and that enemy is the father of all lies, Satan himself, and anyone who fervently promotes the murder of an unborn child, unwittingly has become one of his minions, championing Satan’s hatred for God and mankind. He or she rejects life and embraces death.

That truth was dramatically shown to me recently when praying near a Planned Parenthood “killing factory,” a young man stopped his car, rolled down his window and said: “Hail Satan” and drove off, probably congratulating himself for what he thought was a clever retort to our prayers. All the while, more deaths were being added to the over 62,000,000 already committed against God and his people in “the land of the free” since Roe v Wade.

Calling the right to murder an innocent unborn child a “Reproductive Right” is, regardless of the Culture of Death’s love of that phrase, an oxymoron. For the only true reproductive right is the one given to us by God, that is, the right to join with Him in the miracle of co-creating a one-of-a-kind new child of His, loved by Him from all eternity and meant to ultimately join his or her fellow human beings in the ecstasy of the Beatific Vision.

As is always Satan’s goal, he offers nothing positive. His world is the opposite of our God’s. His offer? Join with him in spreading reproductive death, not life. The Deceiver, the one who calls evil good and good evil, smiles as he twists the right to reproduce in accordance with God’s Plan, into the right to murder in accordance with his Plan. The Grand Liar has named this darkest deed as a “Reproductive Right!”

Natural Law

Reproductive Death is without a doubt, the true name for what his followers are promoting, that is, destroying God’s creatures as soon as they can and by any means, and at any stage. This is the gruesome truth. There is no “right” to do wrong! It is against natural law to take the life of an innocent child. No false claim of “It’s my body. My choice” can change that. Satan probably also teaches that “you can make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear.” No one should make the mistake of underestimating the Dark Prince. Nothing satisfies Satan’s evil urge to claim a sort of victory over the Creator Himself more than convincing a mother to turn against her own God-given reproductive right and to reject the life within her in favor of death.

In spite of Satan’s perverse plan, God’s plan gives a woman the reproductive right to co-create with Him, and is a sacred gift that binds her to her Creator in a supernatural way, that left unobstructed, raises her to a level above even the angels, who while enjoying a special place in the mind of God, can never join with Him in the joy of bringing new life into being. The angels feel no jealousy at being deprived of this gift, instead they surely rejoice and see the birth of a newborn as the highest grace that God can bestow on a woman and on the world.

And seeing a mother turn away from God and refuse the gift of her reproductive right through abortion, surely must cause her Guardian Angel and the Child’s Guardian Angel to lift up an infinite number of prayers for that broken mother. And, perhaps through a possible “Baptism of Desire,” her lost child will join those angels in prayer for his or her mother, as well.

Distortions regarding the beauty and the purpose in giving life are the priority of the Death Merchants today. The thought of one man and one woman joining together in marriage and completing that union through the creation of a child, once thought to be the fulfillment of God’s plan for us, is now considered a dated and naive notion, held onto by a minority of religious fanatics. This false but effective jargon by the real fanatics, the aggressively bitter and dangerous abortion supporters, are fostered on us day in and day out by our news media, who long have been cheerleaders for death.

The continuous fearmongering of an overcrowded world, one that will choke away our clean air, one that will unchecked (code-word for too many children) lead to inadequate housing, massive food-shortages, and violent riots, is having an effect on many people who are used to a privileged lifestyle and can’t bear the thought of possibly being deprived of even the slightest comfort. Satan assures the vulnerable that Reproductive Death can stop all that. Satan is an expert at rocking the boat.

And what about all the fun we’ll miss out on if we keep bringing those crying little problems into our world? Isn’t it wonderful that both parties can work? Money problems are minimized. More vacations! Better houses! Nicer cars! And all we have to do is stop over producing, or better still, stop producing those demanding little people altogether! Life is good, as long as we don’t stop and think! Besides, why care about the future, we won’t be here. Live for today. (Don’t you hate it when you see those large families? They pretend to be so happy, don’t they? They probably can’t even afford cable TV.)

When all other arguments are exhausted while trying to rationalize the murder of the unborn, Satan has one more trick up his foul sleeve. I’ve heard many times: “The trouble with you pro-life nuts is that you don’t give a damn what happens to the kids after they’re born.” The fact that pro-lifers are continually trying to adopt unwanted children and most often have to wait in line for months or years before, if at all, being able to obtain a child is irrelevant to the abortion crowd.

From firsthand experience I can attest to the fact that when I’ve tried to point this out to those angry individuals who make this argument, they will walk away without another word.

Unfortunately, the truth hurts abortion advocates too much to listen. They prefer to shout: “My body. My Choice.” One can really tell how they think with the angry words I heard a woman shout on a video the other day at a pro-abortion rally, “If God could kill His child, why can’t I kill mine!” Only prayer can penetrate that way of thinking. Reproductive Death has poisoned the minds of much of our world.

Fr. Frank Pavone summarizes the battle for a mother and her child best when, in Pro-life Reflections for Every Day, he says: “You cannot kill a baby without hurting the mother, and you cannot protect the baby without loving the mother.”
