15 Million Women Missing In India

By CHRISTOPHER MANION

“The sheer number of lives lost due to sex-selective abortion in India is astounding. The fact that millions of women are now ‘missing’ from the population will undoubtedly have a significant impact on Indian society. Millions of women who otherwise would have contributed to society were never given the opportunity to be born.”

So writes Jonathan Abbamonte, crack research analyst at the Population Research Institute. The Wanderer has reported on PRI President Steven Mosher’s groundbreaking work on China’s barbaric one-child policy, slightly eased in 2015 but still responsible for the death of hundreds of millions of Chinese babies.

“The last thing India needs is a Chinese-style two-child policy,” Mosher says, but Abbamonte’s groundbreaking work digs deep and diligently and exposes troubling aspects of the country’s growing population control efforts. Some are so extreme that government minister Giriraj Singh bluntly suggests “that those who have more than two children should be stripped of their voting rights.”

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi led the way on August 15, India’s Independence Day, calling on the central and state governments to implement policies to control the country’s population growth rate. He also called on Indian couples to have smaller families and praised Indian citizens who have already embraced smaller family norms. Having fewer children is “an act of patriotism,” he said.

“I want you to do proper family planning and you will naturally see that a smaller family can be happier and more content. Your family will be away from diseases, will have more resources,” he added.

Abbamonte’s original research discloses that nearly 550,000 unborn girls are killed in India every year by sex-selective abortion. The culprit is a strong cultural preference for sons that is present in India and other Asian cultures, which regards boys as blessings and girls as burdens.

Why are girls aborted? Simple. Because they are not boys.

Abbamonte’s report comes as a surprise to some senior foreign policy analysts. One acknowledged India expert tells The Wanderer, “I’ve never heard any of this.” Clearly Abbamonte’s report needs to be widely distributed and studied for its implications in fields far beyond foreign policy. Consider: A Catholic obstetrician from Punjab tells us that the growth of India’s Muslim population is a major factor in the government’s campaign. “Hindu families have two children, Muslim families have five. That’s a simple fact,” she observes.

Abbamonte’s complete report is scholarly and carefully documented. Readers can examine the entire text at PRI’s website, www.pop.org.

Feminists Attempt To Set

Fire To Mexico City Cathedral

Last week, a group of feminist abortion activists tried to set fire to the Metropolitan Cathedral in Mexico City’s Zocalo, the central plaza of Mexico’s capital.

We can understand why the ladies were upset. Just a week before, as reported by LifeSiteNews, some 600,000 pro-lifers marched in Mexico City and in 100 other cities and towns across the country under the slogan, “Not one Mexican Less!” The demonstrations were organized by La Frente Nacional por la Familia (The National Front for the Family, FNF), and the turnout clearly caused a panic among the Mexican pro-abortion left.

This story has a domestic dimension as well. Rodrigo Ivan Cortés, FNF’s president, has taken the battle for life in Mexico a step beyond the border. This dynamic pro-life leader says that, since there are so many Mexicans in the U.S., he has reached out to Mexicans in the United States through FNF’s partner organization, the Pro-Life, Pro-Family Binational League. This group organizes Mexicans in American communities and urges them to take the pro-life message to Mexican consulates throughout the United States (there are about fifty such locations altogether).

U.S. bishops avail themselves of every communications medium to oppose President Trump’s immigration policies. That stands to reason, since those policies have reduced U.S. taxpayer funding of the USCCB’s secular NGOs by many millions of dollars. While we understand that our shepherds receive no government funding for the Church’s pro-life initiatives, we encourage them nonetheless to use their sizable and well-funded public relations entities to encourage and support the work of the FNF and the Binational League.

A Note On The

Current Unpleasantness

“And therefore, as the plan of this work we have undertaken requires, and as occasion offers, we must speak also of the earthly city, which, though it be mistress of the nations, is itself ruled by its lust of rule” —Augustine, City of God, Book 1 (preface).

Impeachment Bottom Line: The charade in Washington represents the last gasp of the alliance between the Left and the Establishment Elites in their attempt to save abortion.

Yes, they hate the Deplorables, they hate the Constitution, they’re globalists, they’re Godless, they hate everything we stand for.

And yes, they are driven by the libido dominandi, the “the lust of rule” that Augustine identifies on the first page of the City of God.

But the fundamental reality is this: If you have the power to kill untold millions of the most innocent human beings on Earth, you have the power to do anything you want.

And today the pro-abortion movement’s greatest fear is that Donald Trump will have the opportunity to name another justice to the Supreme Court . . . maybe two.

Since the Supreme Court created our current abortion laws, the Left reasons, it can change them.

That’s what motivates all this. It’s all abortion, all the time.

Apocalypse Now,

One More Time

The international Left’s version of impeachment is apocalypse. “If you don’t give us power, the world will end.” While this approach might get a shrug from sensible adults, it has proven to be quite effective with children, who have been manipulated by ideologues in teachers’ clothing not to think, but to feel — properly, of course, as guided by their anointed betters.

Here we see a parallel inversion that the Left has already imposed on Christian anthropology. The Church teaches that the intellect informs the will and together they rule the passions and the appetites. But now a passion — inchoate, apocalyptic fear — demands that we reject reason and succumb to another passion, that of the manipulators — and once more we meet the tireless, timeless libido dominandi.

With the marvels of current technology, the wild frenzy of manipulated children approaches the intensity of the “Feelies” in Aldous Huxley’s Brave New World. Naturally — no, that’s the wrong word; the manipulators turn nature upside down once more. So: un-naturally, the world’s most prominent leaders sit in awe as a misguided sixteen-year-old berates them for ruining her life. (The usual suspects adore her — we’re not kidding: in 2018, the “Church of Sweden” proclaimed that she was “an appointed successor of Jesus.”)

President Trump dispelled the gnostic magic spell when he gave the delegates to the United Nations the unvarnished truth. “Americans will never tire of defending innocent life,” he told the startled dignitaries. “We are aware that many United Nations projects have attempted to assert a global right to taxpayer-funded abortion on demand — right up until the moment of delivery. Global bureaucrats have absolutely no business attacking the sovereignty of nations that wish to protect innocent life.”

How curious! Why, those are the same global bureaucrats who are manipulating American schoolchildren, with their fellow global bureaucrats at the USCCB championing the same cause with the same language.

And the same goal: power. Because no global entity can change the weather, but it can kill untold millions of innocents, born and unborn, once a frightened and benighted population falls under their spell.
