An Open Letter To President Donald J. Trump

By REY FLORES

Congratulations, Mr. President! Likewise, congratulations to our new first lady, Melania Trump, and to your entire family!

As an American, I have always been proud of our great nation even when things looked bleak, especially during the last eight years. When things got tough, that’s when I became more involved in helping to make positive changes for our nation instead of simply complaining.

Little did I imagine a few years back when I attended one of the very first Tea Party rallies in Joliet, Ill., that we would come back stronger than ever as a nation, led by a proven and strong leader like you.

I guess it took an extremist and radical president like Obama to slap some sense into many Americans like me who simply became apathetic and despondent over American politics.

Thank you for shaking things up the way you have. When I hear you speak, I don’t see a celebrity billionaire; what I see and hear are all heart. The heart of a man who loves our nation and has courageously made many personal, professional, and financial sacrifices to lead our nation.

It is frustrating for me to watch the #FakeNews media attempt to discredit you on a daily basis. It hurts me to see you and your family personally attacked by these untalented hack celebrities who can barely tell us one solid reason why they are so upset about your presidency. They can only parrot the false manufactured accusations that you are somehow a racist and a bigot.

As a son of Mexican immigrant parents who sacrificed and worked very hard to provide me the opportunity to grow up in the world’s greatest nation, I know exactly what you meant when you said that Mexico was not sending us their best people.

Though most immigrants, illegal or not, are hard workers in the many industries that employ them, sadly, many criminals have slipped through the cracks because of our broken immigration system.

In addition, your administration needs to hold the Mexican government accountable for creating such a dire economic situation in their own country. That’s why their citizens come here to have us fix something that is Mexico’s responsibility, and not ours, to begin with.

I compare that to having neighbors next door who neglect their own children so much that I am obligated to make sure those kids are clothed and sheltered simply out of charity. However, those irresponsible neighbors should be held fully accountable for neglecting of their own children.

As far as some of our own citizens go, please allow me to apologize and beg forgiveness on their behalf for their disrespect and unacceptable behavior toward you.

Many of these ingrates are products of the American public education system; a failed system led by Democrats and liberal teachers unions for decades, resulting in generations of dumbed-down Americans who can barely tell us what nation we were fighting during the Revolutionary War.

They are also easily led by popular culture that tells them how to think, speak, and act. I have confidence that you will prove that culture wrong, and instead of wasting so much of their time and energy on their protests and negativity, many people will instead join Americans like you and me to make America great again.

I understand that many people do not comprehend or refuse to acknowledge what it means to make America great again: Willfully ignorant people think of negative aspects of America’s past when they hear that slogan. What I hear is that we want America to be prosperous, to have a strong work ethic, and to return to the racial harmony which we enjoyed prior to the Obama administration’s efforts to divide us with its false and manufactured Astroturf racism.

As you often remind us: To make America great again is to make America safe again. There was nothing more enraging than watching the Obama administration neglect persecuted Christians worldwide, allowing the rise of Islamic terrorist groups like ISIS.

And it wasn’t only Christians overseas who suffered persecution.

Our own Department of Justice collaborated on persecuting Christian business owners who were put in a tough spot, being forced to violate their religious Christian beliefs by catering to “same-sex weddings,” or face fines and penalties.

When Obama said he wanted to fundamentally transform America, he wasn’t kidding. Under his watch, traditional Christian Americans found themselves in a morally decaying world where schoolchildren were being taught through vile Planned Parenthood sex-education programs.

We woke up in a nightmare when suddenly men could legally use a women’s public restroom if they thought they were women, or boys in high schools could use the girls’ locker room if they “identified” as girls.

Then, to add insult to injury, Obama lit up the White House in the rainbow colors radical homosexuals have co-opted as a symbol for their cause.

Our military was also decimated in several ways, including allowing open homosexuality in the U.S. military from the top down. We taxpayers also had to foot the bill for sex-change operations while so many of our military veterans were left to languish in many of the failed Veterans Administration hospitals across the country.

To call the Obama presidency a failed experiment would be wrong. It was nothing less than an attack on everything our nation stands for.

I guess I’ve said enough about Obama. I wanted this letter to be more about the future of our nation.

Whether it was watching you trounce every opponent during the debates in the primaries and in the general election, or hearing you speak in person at a rally in Fredericksburg, Va. — it was truly awe inspiring. You are the president that America has needed for a long time.

With all certainty, I know God has once again blessed America with your presidency and leadership. I know that many Catholics and other Christians have prayed hard for you and will continue to do so.

In whatever ways I can help in your efforts, I will be most proud to Make America Great Again with you and your administration. You may well be the greatest president of my lifetime.
