Border: Crazy And Deadly

July 17, 2022 Frontpage No Comments

By BARBARA SIMPSON

It isn’t as if Americans don’t have enough to worry about concerning our Southern Border, now we hear that the United Nations says that border is the “World’s Deadliest Land Crossing.”
It’s an attention-getting headline, but anyone who has paid even a modicum of attention to what is happening on the border on a daily basis knows that it is true.
According to an article by Joseph A. Klein, the United Nations report stated that in 2021, at least 728 lives were lost on the border — 53 percent higher than the year before. What makes the figures even more devastating is that a UN note to that report, states that the number is “probably an undercount.”
The discovery on June 27 of 53 bodies in a tractor trailer in San Antonio, Texas, brought the devastation on the border clearly into view. This tragedy brings the number of migrants who died during the first six months of this year to 290.
These people came from several countries around the world, and all were under the assumption that they would get to the United States and have freedom and the better life they desired. It was not to be — they were taken advantage of and betrayed by the “coyotes” — the outlaws from the Mexican Cartels who charge them thousands of dollars to get to the U.S. and the freedom they desire.
When they are under the control of the coyotes, they face the risk of abduction, extortion, rape, beatings, and murder. These are not unusual outcomes.
It’s a gamble when they decide to pay and make the trip, but too often, they lose, as the death totals illustrate. The only “winners” in these situations are the cartels which rake in billions of dollars annually from smuggling people, weapons, and drugs into the United States.
The increase in numbers of aliens trying to gain entrance into the U.S. has increased since Joseph Biden became president. He essentially has an open border policy, reversing the Trump policies. The result is that more than a million migrants have been released — they got into the country and then have been allowed to stay.
It’s called his “catch and release” policy and it’s working — that is, allowing illegals free entrance to the U.S. and permission to stay, with no legal ramifications. They travel into the interior of the country and simply disappear. Many of them are actually bused or flown to the interior by the federal government.
According to reports, the Biden administration has said “climate change” is the reason there is an increasing number of illegals crossing our border. Given that there is no real evidence to support this position, that whole concept is ludicrous.
Another angle on this issue is that the Biden administration has a new policy, allowing illegals who are deported from the U.S. to apply for citizenship, regardless of how long they have been outside of the country. Prior to this, applicants had to wait up to ten years before applying for legal status. That law, governed by the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, was meant to deter people from trying to live in the country illegally.
In other words, President Biden is making it easier for illegals to become American citizens. Robert Law, who led the USCIS policy office for the Trump administration, told The Washington Times that the policy is “basically an invitation for any deported alien to pay the cartels to smuggle them back into the U.S. while they let the clock run out.”
In addition, the policy will apply retroactively which means those who previously were denied admission can reopen their cases, and, given the current attitude in Washington, they’ll be allowed to stay.
Texas is a state that has been hit hard by the masses of illegal aliens — on July 10, the governor, Greg Abbott, called the flow of migrants into his state an “invasion.” He has issued an executive order that allows Texas law enforcement officials to send migrants back to Mexico. He also spoke of the apprehension of terrorists at the border but made no estimates as to the “get-aways,” nor the number of unaccompanied minors.
He referenced the prediction of the administration that we will have about 18,000 people a day, crossing the border illegally. On an annual estimate, that’s more than six million a year.
Abbott is furious that the president of Mexico, Lopez Obrador, is allowing thousands of migrants from all over the world to enter Mexico and cross his country to the U.S. border. At that point, they seem to have an open U.S. door, courtesy of President Biden.
Gov. Abbott didn’t mince words, calling it “a crushing disaster from which we may never recover — it would destroy our country.”
Another state that’s concerned about the issue is Arizona.
GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake says her state needs a governor who will keep residents safe, secure election integrity, and protect the economy.
She says when she is elected, she will issue a “Declaration of Invasion” to protect Arizona from the flood of illegals, of dangerous drugs which are killing our children, as well as dangerous weapons.
According to Lake, Arizona loses out on approximately $2.8 billion from mishandling the southern border. She is against non-citizens voting and is opposed to the just announced Biden administration proposal to sue Arizona for requiring that only citizens can vote. It raises questions as to how the president regards the rights of states to control their voting procedures.
I have relatives and friends who live in a county that is on the border with Mexico. The people in the city in which they live have an ongoing problem with illegals crossing their properties. It is farm and cattle country and illegals constantly crossing private land is not safe. These illegals often are armed, often steal and destroy property, and kill animals. American citizens are required to arm themselves — just in case. And they do.
It’s a terrible way to live.
Too bad Joe Biden isn’t required to live that way — perhaps then he might change some of his policies that he is forcing on the rest of us.

Now more than ever, vehicles like The Wanderer are needed for clarification and guidance on the issues of the day.

Catholic, conservative, orthodox, and loyal to the Magisterium have been this journal’s hallmarks for five generations. God willing, our message will continue well into this century and beyond.
