Cardinal Dolan Beams With Corrupt Hillary . . . But What If Mr. Borderbrat Wants A Place At The Table?

By DEXTER DUGGAN

Dream a little. Try your imagination. Donald Trump didn’t win the Republican presidential nomination after all.

Trump claimed to be against massive illegal immigration, but was he telling the truth or only playing for votes on a popular issue?

Republican-primary voters demanded the real deal, someone who already proved his opposition to the unending border lawbreaking. So, according to this dream, let’s say they nominated for president a nationally well-known civilian border-watcher whose team kept their binoculars busy to report illegal immigrants trying to violate the international line.

This guy’s opponents gave him the epithet “Mr. Borderbrat.”

Now, a lot of establishment figures and liberals didn’t like Mr. Borderbrat disagreeing with their borderless visions. But it’s reality that he never, ever ordered his team to shoot or batter illegal immigrants because they entered the U.S. without proper papers.

His foes call Borderbrat a “racist,” but, regardless of the facts, that’s the general denigration they use against many people who don’t believe in open borders.

But back to the presidential-campaign dream.

Mr. Borderbrat as the GOP nominee faced Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton at the October 19 debate in Las Vegas.

In a shocking surprise, he declared that he was tired of fighting all this illegal immigration, so to bring it to a screeching halt, he was hereby ordering his team to gun down anyone suspected of being an illegal entrant.

After the debate, Borderbrat gave an evening news conference to underscore his point about how tough he was getting.

Then he flew off to New York City for the Al Smith Catholic dinner the next night, on October 20, that raises funds for vital charity work.

Timothy Cardinal Dolan, archbishop of New York, sat between Clinton on his right and Borderbrat on his left. Dolan, as usual at this charity dinner, smiled broadly and roared with laughter as the evening proceeded, hoping to stir a spirit of amity and conciliation amid the rough-and-tumble of a presidential campaign.

Borderbrat and Clinton, as is traditional at this meal, delivered their own talks, trying to add a minor note of levity.

As soon as the dinner ended, reporters rushed toward the cardinal, demanding to know how he allowed Borderbrat to attend, right after the GOP nominee ordered the intentional shooting of hundreds or thousands of illegal immigrants.

Dolan replied this was a very important charity fund-raiser that simply had to proceed, for the good of the needy. Anyway, he added, Borderbrat issued his order only one night ago, and there wasn’t sufficient time to disrupt everything by telling the nominee he had to stay away.

End of dream. Does anyone at all in the real world believe that the cardinal and his New York hierarchy would have welcomed presidential hopeful Borderbrat as an honored guest if he’d just given shoot-to-kill orders? Even if the prelates had very little time to react to the previous evening’s shock?

However, it was no dream, but the customary liberal Democratic Party nightmare, when Hillary Clinton in reality at the Las Vegas debate said she wants a Supreme Court that continues to protect Roe v. Wade and “marriage equality,” and she’d put new justices on the court to enforce that.

In other words, she plans for decades more of gravely sinful massive permissive abortion of the innocent, and gravely sinful “same-sex marriage” for those with deeply confused identities.

Clinton also spoke up in defense of late abortions and misled people about the occasions when they’re done.

The Democrat wasn’t springing any surprises that night in Las Vegas about her support for these seriously sinful aggressions. They were her well-known stands. According to Catholic teaching, a person who consciously participates in them unrepentantly would go to Hell, forever.

Hillary was saying these are the sorts of immoral laws she would do her best to keep imposed throughout the United States. (She also promotes them globally.) This would be to the utter detriment not only of Catholics’ welfare but also everyone else’s.

Huge fines, government compulsion, suppression of believers’ consciences already are being flexed, and would grow only more deadly under this madam president.

There was plenty of time not to include her at the Al Smith dinner. Sitting right next to a jovial cardinal at this very public, planned event conveys a definite sort of Church approbation.

Everyone is a sinner in need of forgiveness, but some people don’t seek it. The cardinal wouldn’t celebrate a banquet with the publicly known, unrepentant head of the Mafia. That sort of bad fellowship already gave the Church a black eye in Italy. It doesn’t need to be encouraged on these shores, leaving the image that the Church doesn’t believe its own foundational teaching.

In recent decades, society and culture increasingly have been poisoned. It would have been unthinkable a few decades ago, when people could be both practicing Catholics and Democrats in good faith, that an aggressive pro-abortion radical like Hillary could be feasting in the spotlight next to the indulgent archbishop of New York.

Moreover, “gay marriage” rightly would have been condemned for the monstrous aberration it is even in 1996, when New York’s John Cardinal O’Connor wouldn’t allow then-President Bill Clinton to attend the Al Smith dinner because that president vetoed a congressional bill against partial-birth abortion back then. (Clinton’s challenger Bob Dole was also not invited, reportedly to avoid having the dinner take on a partisan tone.)

O’Connor understood the dangerous implications of providing such apparent moral approbation, as would have most Catholics and Democrats. But now their senses have been sufficiently dulled that any outrageous immorality is to be ignored as not worth raising a ruckus.

Except, of course, an offense such as our hypothetical instance of Borderbrat ordering any illegal immigrants shot. That would have blazed into instant worldwide media outrage.

On the other hand, when the Obama administration works to abort the unborn babies of immigrants, and everyone else’s, by the millions, no sweat. And that’s what Hillary plans to continue doing if she can.

Coincidentally, shortly before the dinner night, Dolan had asked for Hillary to apologize for the anti-Catholic rhetoric of some of her top aides, as revealed recently by WikiLeaks.

LifeSiteNews.com reported October 19 that Dolan “called for…Clinton to disassociate herself from anti-Catholic statements made by her campaign chairman and said the remarks were ‘extraordinarily patronizing and insulting to Catholics’. . . .

“But as far as an apology from Clinton for the remarks demeaning Catholics, ‘Hasn’t happened yet,’ Cardinal Dolan said,” LifeSiteNews.com wrote.

The Wanderer sent two emails on October 24 to the communications office of the New York Archdiocese, asking if Clinton had apologized for her aides’ insults “in any way? What way? If not, why was she still welcomed to the Al Smith dinner?”

There was no response from the archdiocese.

A Republican activist and conservative Catholic in Phoenix, who follows the illegal-immigration issue, was deeply disappointed in prelates’ failures to defend Catholics and their faith. Rob Haney emailed The Wanderer on October 23:

“I have been infuriated daily when I learn of the betrayal to Catholic doctrine committed by many of our bishops and cardinals. Cardinal Dolan’s cavorting with Hillary Clinton, the leader of the worst politically criminal syndicate our country has ever seen, is beyond causing scandal to the faithful.

“Many leaders of the Church welcome these Democrat Party agents of death to ‘Catholic’ universities and social events, which imparts honor on them and raises their stature in the eyes of our Catholic lay brethren,” Haney said.

“Cardinal Dolan and his Catholic, socialist cohorts who spout rhetoric from Democrat Party position papers not only promote abhorrent policies, but they attack Donald Trump and the Republican Party positions,” he said.

“Promoting driver’s licenses for illegal aliens is but one example. The Church hierarchy knows perfectly well that these licenses will allow illegal aliens (excuse me, migrants) to commit voter fraud. And yet, these Church officials promote the practice while reciting Democrat talking points to justify their support,” Haney continued.

“I don’t see how Dolan and many other ranking prelates will be able to quote St. Paul in his Second Letter to Timothy as he anticipates his crown of righteousness from the Lord: ‘I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith.’ Rather, the prelates of today will have to say, ‘I have conspired with the merchants of death; I have honored the unrighteous; I have been unfaithful to the Lord and His Church’,” he said.

Needs More Backbone

On the other hand, conservative Republican consultant Constantin Querard, a non-Catholic, told The Wanderer that he didn’t object if the dinner is raising money for “a worthy cause.”

“I had assumed the event was nonpartisan or bipartisan to raise money for some greater good,” Querard said. “If the money goes to a worthy cause (worthier than the candidates attending), then I’m not troubled. On the contrary, I’m not sure how else to get some of those Godless heathens to part with coin for the Church, eh?

“The Church still needs more backbone when it comes to the pulpit, giving Communion, etc. But I don’t know if the charity dinner is the place to draw the line first,” he said. “I’d save it for last.”

The Wanderer asked Querard how the Catholic Dolan could affect the nominally Methodist Clinton’s pulpit or communion line.

Querard said: “Can’t imagine Dolan can affect Clinton’s, but I think (John) Kerry, (Tim) Kaine, etc., are Catholic, so the message could still be sent any number of times. I guess the other denominations are going to have to step up, as well.”

After eight years of widespread suffering and economic collapse under the lying, lawbreaking, malign Barack Obama (who had been welcomed to previous Al Smith dinners), it seems impossible that another Democrat vowing to continue his ruinous policies would have any chance of winning the White House now. Yet many polls still show Hillary Clinton ahead.

One can only hope that Trump means what he says about making America great again. But those parts of his personality that are bluster and bravado probably haven’t helped his race.
