Cover-Up In Arizona . . . “Immigration Justice” From Same Sort Of Smarties Who Did Obamacare

By DEXTER DUGGAN

PHOENIX — Like other embarrassments for Barack Obama, major news media don’t seem much interested in tracing what has become of alien minors who jumped the border into the United States this summer.

Obama’s government furtively embedded the minors across the nation rather than sending them back to their rightful homes. Their foot through the door here became a brooding presence awaiting manipulation by Washington, D.C., wizards of social change.

The Daily Signal website reported on December 2 that conservative Cong. Raul Labrador (R., Idaho) “today criticized members of the news media for failing to do their homework on the history of President Obama and immigration reform, urging them to ‘stop being shills for this president’.”

There was much that could have been investigated but was ignored.

Some word leaked out that these unhappy minors’ U.S. education included instruction in developing racial grievances and Planned Parenthood-style morality. Hardly the start to a better life that some bishops and other open-borders enthusiasts would claim.

Even though uncounted millions of unauthorized aliens already had cascaded into the United States over the years, last summer’s additional flood of minors and women alerted many Americans to how unmanageable and unending illegal immigration had become. The issue assumed new urgency for U.S. voters who lived far from the southern border.

Rural Sycamore Canyon Academy for troubled youths in Pinal County, Ariz., was one of the many destinations the government selected to house the minors. Nearby residents from around the small town of Oracle turned out to demonstrate peacefully against plans to ship the unidentified arrivals there.

So Obama’s government just waited, then slipped them in later. They were believed to number between 40 and 60 persons. The government still has refused to provide even basic information about them to an Arizona sheriff.

On November 11, the Republican sheriff of Pinal County, Paul Babeu, issued a statement saying: “Law enforcement was never provided with the profiles or criminal histories of the unaccompanied juveniles coming from Central America and being placed into our communities. Now, we are seeing an increase in violent crimes occurring at Sycamore Canyon Academy. . . .

“Understandably, the residents of Oracle have been emailing and calling my office due to their concern of hearing of this increase in violence at the academy, and they have every right to be upset. My office is acutely aware of the situation, and we will continue to work to ensure the safety of those in Oracle and the surrounding areas.”

Babeu’s statement occurred as his office issued a news release headlined, “Spike in 9-1-1 calls from Sycamore Canyon Academy since illegal minors arrived.” It contrasted the emergency calls during a period in 2013, before the aliens came, with the same period in 2014, once they were present.

It said: “In 2013, from August 1st through October 8th, there were eight calls from the academy, including two for runaways, four 9-1-1 hang-ups, one ‘threatening’ and one ‘subject disturbing.’ In 2014, for the same time period, there have been 13 calls, including five assaults on students and staff, one for criminal damage, three 9-1-1 hang-ups, one ‘agency assist’ for a juvenile in crisis, one missing-person report, and one for narcotics.”

The news release said that in the most recent incident, a juvenile inmate from Colombia, who arrived in July, used a tube sock filled with three bars of soap to strike a 74-year-old staff member in the head, injuring him.

The juvenile, then 13 years of age, was taken to a sheriff’s substation for processing, the news release said. Apparently a good student of Obama tactics at an early age, the boy refused to make a statement without a lawyer present, the release said.

Would the attorney be paid with U.S. taxpayer dollars?

The website of Phoenix television station KTVK, channel 3, reported that Babeu said, “Clearly there’s an uptick in violent acts” there, and the minor swung the makeshift weapon “almost like a bat.”

The report quoted Babeu: “I’ve said from the very beginning . . . the most humane response from our country and the federal government is to have these juveniles from Central America put on a plane and sent back to their country of origin and reunited with their families.”

Strange, but in this case the urgency of “reuniting families” doesn’t exist for Obama’s government.

The Pinal County Sheriff’s Office on December 3 provided The Wanderer with a copy of a letter Babeu sent to a U.S. Customs and Border Protection official in Washington, D.C., on July 14. The letter still has not been answered, sheriff’s spokesman Tim Gaffney said.

Gaffney said that according to the Sycamore Canyon facility, when the minor in question arrived there, he “said that he was born in Colombia. His parents are listed as ‘unknown’ on the juvenile referral paperwork, and he refused to answer questions when asked by a deputy.”

In his July 14 letter, Babeu wrote: “I am requesting the names, ages, criminal histories to also include any gang affiliations, and information related to any public health concerns of each individual who is being brought into Pinal County. As the elected sheriff of Pinal County, it is my duty to ensure the safety and security of all our residents.

“Please understand the Sycamore Canyon Boys Ranch is not a secure facility, and therefore I am also requesting how long they will be at this location for temporary housing,” Babeu wrote.

Trickery about bringing in the minors wasn’t a unique occurrence in Obama’s government.

In recent weeks Americans have become familiar with the babbling boastfulness of Jonathan Gruber, one of the upper-class smarties who intentionally designed the crazy legislative architecture of Obamacare to be incomprehensible even to other experts, as well as to punish average Americans.

Just what Obama wanted as he effected his dreams to grind this nation under his heel. With this legislative monstrosity down on paper, Obama told his thugs to shove forward with bribes and threats to ram it through a Democrat Congress in 2010. And they just barely did.

As book-smart as Gruber may be, he didn’t seem to think in this cell-phone age that his boasts at meetings actually could be recorded, exposing him. But he’d already gotten the law he wanted.

Total federal control of Americans’ medical care is only one of Obama’s dreams, though. Destroying national borders and merging the U.S. with the Third World is an equally pressing goal.

And for every Jonathan Gruber who plots and smirks to get your pills, your hospital pillows, and your IV tubes under Obama’s thumb, there’s a crew of globalist wizards devising marvelous tricks to cripple your nation under internationalist dominance.

Often when one thinks of invading armies, one sees ranks of strong men with their heavy weapons battling to victory, then populating the conquered territories with their families and other countrymen who come in. But in a marvelous new tactic, Latino families have become the invasion troops themselves.

You may try to shoot back at a foreign soldier with his rifle before he can settle his kids in your town. However, what if Obama simply illegally imports the kids and their mothers, embeds them in U.S. neighborhoods everywhere, then “reunites” them with the remainder of their families who follow their footsteps? Victory against you with hardly a shot fired!

Promoters of massive illegal immigration often are willing to concede that about 11.5 million unauthorized entrants are here now. When even the pro-invasion side acknowledges this figure, others think the number is much higher, perhaps 30 million or more.

However, the pleas and cries and demands that countless millions more must be allowed to come here illegally make a person despair that the invasion will ever end, not as long as the U.S. is easy pickings for the lawbreakers.

The border jumpers simply must be told that while the U.S. generously allows legal immigration, there simply must be limits. It’s their responsibility to combat corruption in their own countries, to win improvement and stay home there.

Even the atheist Communist government of mainland China realized it had to undertake serious economic reforms to improve its dirt-poor people’s lives. Latino Catholic countries should be ashamed that they refuse to do at least as well as Chinese dwellers under a dictatorship.

The surprising Communist slogan became, “Getting rich is glorious!” And that meant doing it at home, not by sneaking off to some other country illegally.

Victimhood

In late November another highly emotional “border Mass” was celebrated between U.S. and Mexican territory. Even the distant United Kingdom’s Catholic Herald posted a story on November 25, reporting that as many as 15 people tried to slip into the U.S. during the Mass along the New Mexico fence, although some decided to turn back.

The story began, “A Mass celebrated on the U.S.-Mexico border fence over the weekend was marked by tearful reunions and desperate attempts to cross the border.”

It quoted a U.S. bishop there: “This Mass started as a remembrance of the thousands of people who have died in their desperate trek to come to the U.S. We pray for them as well as those immigrants who are here now but who live in fear of exploitation and deportation daily.”

The endless mentality of victimhood was only encouraged.

Last spring Catholic bishops had offered a Mass in border-straddling Nogales, Ariz., with the same rationalizations. However, some news stories quoted Arizona Catholic legislator Al Melvin offering a different solution — developing private-sector jobs south of the border and securing the international line to prevent drug and human-trafficking and create stability for everyone.

One report quoted Melvin: “Frankly . . . I think this is irresponsible of these bishops to be down there. They are not bringing stability to the border. They are adding to the chaos of the border. And it’s not helping to save lives. If anything, I believe it will contribute to more lives being lost. We need to secure the border to protect lives.”

If one looks for common sense on legal immigration, it may be found out in the streets among Catholic conservatives and their allies, not behind all the fences, gates, guards, and locks at Church chanceries, where bishops and their bureaucrats tell each other tall tales, including how bad fences and gates are — at the border.

Orthodox Catholic Republican political leader Rick Santorum reacted to Obama’s lawless “amnesty” announcement of November 20 by saying:

“At a time when millions of Americans are struggling to find work and coping with stagnant wages, the president has decided to allow an additional five million individuals to legally compete with the existing American labor pool — diluting wages and opportunities for American workers further.

“This decision flies in the face of basic principles of supply and demand and any interest in the welfare of the American worker,” Santorum added.

And conservative Sen. Jeff Sessions (R., Ala.) said: “Congress has no higher duty than to protect the American people and our Constitution. The president’s action is a threat to every working person in this country — their jobs, wages, dreams, hopes, and futures. For years, the American people have begged and pleaded for a lawful system of immigration that serves the nation and makes us proud — but the politicians have refused, refused, refused.

“It is time to stand strong for the American people,” Sessions said. “It is time to champion the interests of those constantly neglected on the question of immigration: the men and women and children we represent — the citizens of this country to whom we owe our ultimate allegiance.”

National Discord

Obama seems always to find taxpayers’ money to funnel into whatever he pleases, including this summer’s flood of new border crossers. Moreover, the Daily Signal website reported on December 2 that Obama’s November 20 “executive action” for illegal immigrants, all by itself, could lead to an additional $40 billion in federal spending annually, according to an estimate by the Washington-based Heritage Foundation.

Washington commentator Fred Barnes, himself a strong proponent of “immigration reform,” wrote in the Weekly Standard political magazine on December 1 that Obama’s rawly partisan executive “amnesty” had soured everything.

“It is doubly doomed to be regarded as illegitimate — first, because it stretches presidential authority beyond the breaking point, and second, because it has no bipartisan backing. Obama’s action is supported by many (but not all) Democrats in Congress but zero Republicans,” Barnes wrote.

Quite the opposite of Catholic bureaucrats cheering Obama’s “executive amnesty” and calling for still more, Barnes cautioned, “Going forward in a purely partisan fashion is bound to cause national discord, increase polarization, and heighten distrust in Washington. Worse still, it means the issue will be controversial for years to come.”

Our Lady Of The Americas

Still, in a brief Wanderer interview on November 29, Phoenix Catholic Remi Ruiz held out hope that the Blessed Virgin could bring forward a good result under her titles in the Western Hemisphere including Our Lady of the Americas and Our Lady of Guadalupe.

“We must pray to Our Lady of the Americas to protect the sovereignty of all these beautiful countries dedicated to her,” Ruiz said.
