I don’t watch much television and try to avoid it at all costs. The content is really nothing I have interest in. I don’t care much for watching sports, or any of the so-called comedy shows. They’ve all gotten very political. It used to be sports and entertainment overall were an escape from the difficult realities of our daily lives and the bad news we learned about on the evening news.
Not anymore.
Since pay and cable TV were launched decades ago, the numbers of channels and programs have dramatically increased, but the quality of programming has gotten worse with each passing day. The more ways we discover to communicate through newer technologies, the less we actually communicate as humans. If anything, the earthly powers that be use these technologies to brainwash us with their Godless propaganda of immorality and depravity.
Sexual content has not only gotten more explicit and pornographic, but the abnormality of the sexuality is way off the charts. Since man first learned how to write and create art, our inherent human sexuality has drawn us to use (pun intended), or abuse, different media to indulge in our sexual curiosities and proclivities.
God created sex. Sex is a beautiful and good thing under His rules. Sex is one of the most powerful, life-giving creations in His plan for humanity under the Sacrament of Matrimony. When a married couple engage in this beautiful plan, life springs from it.
Even with married couples who have difficulties procreating, are physically unable to procreate, or are beyond their reproductive age, the marital act can bring new life to the covenant of marriage between husband, wife, and God.
Instead, our warped society embraces a culture of death where sex becomes a selfish and ugly thing. The only things that result from Satan’s distortions of sex are abortion, contraception, prostitution, child sex trafficking, pornography, infidelity, divorce, homosexuality, and now all of this “transgender” nonsense.
Since Satan is not a creator but a destroyer, he has used our weaknesses of the flesh, specifically regarding sexuality, as one of his most powerful tools to lead us away from good. What better tool than television, and now the Internet, for Satan to rob us of our souls? These are the some of the wickedness and snares of the Devil which we pray for protection from in the St. Michael the Archangel Prayer.
It isn’t just sexual perversions; people have also had an increasing obsession with death and violence. Like zombies on television shows like The Walking Dead have an insatiable appetite for human flesh, its audiences have an equal appetite for the blood and gore on those shows.
Makes you wonder who the real zombies are. It’s not called “programming” for nothing.
There also seems to be an increase of police and courtroom drama shows where the violent content has become more gruesome with each passing day. Many of the fictional plots on these shows are based often on real-life crimes that to me are sadder and more tragic than the fictional stories the television writers come up with.
I get it. Since the dawn of man, Adam and Eve, and particularly the story of Cain and Able, violence is an inherent characteristic of fallen man. People have some sort of morbid fascination with violence, death, gore, blood and guts.
It’s us watching that proverbial train wreck that we know we shouldn’t be looking at, yet we can’t turn our eyes away from it.
Call me old-fashioned, but when I was a kid there were programs that we could watch on TV where we learned lessons in bravery, courage, and good and moral things. It wasn’t perfect, but television viewing was sure a much safer experience than it is today.
“Be Who You Are”
The worst abnormality in today’s culture are the child drag queens. It wasn’t enough that some sick parents would exploit their own daughters in child beauty pageants, complete with bathing suit competitions. Remember the tragic JonBenét Ramsey case? Today we see even more twisted parents dressing their little boys up in dresses, wigs, and garish makeup.
These little “drag queens” are being celebrated on national television fake news programs as if nothing was wrong with it.
One program even showed video of one of these little boys in full drag performing a striptease for grown men in a gay nightclub. Some of the men were sticking dollar bills in the kid’s waistband. This, folks, is the new normal.
The lunatics on the left are also exposing their own children to the infamous “Drag Queen Story Hour” events being promoted in taxpayer-funded public libraries. This is where men dressed up as prostitutes read stories to kids, encourage the children to “be who you are” — which is code for “be one of us.”
It wasn’t enough to drag your kid out, pun intended, to these so-called “pride” parades. Parades where homosexual men and women are oftentimes prancing around naked. How do we know some drag queen won’t expose himself to kids in the public libraries?
As a matter of fact, one such drag queen was a registered sex offender, prohibited from being anywhere near kids. Nevertheless, library staff permitted this sick criminal to read perverse stories to the children in their community. Any parents bringing their children to these brainwashing events should be immediately investigated for child abuse.
As that washed-out old hippie Bob Dylan once sang, “The times, they are a-changing.” They sure are and for the worse, I may add. The more madness that we are bombarded with, the more we must fight back with all of the power we are blessed with through prayer and the sacraments offered by our Lord Jesus Christ through His One, Holy, Catholic and Apostolic Church.
