Goodbye 2016, Hello 2017!

By REY FLORES

2016 was a heck of a year and what a wild rollercoaster ride indeed it was. I think most of us aged at least a couple of years in that one year alone, not to mention how many more grey hairs accumulated upon many of our heads.

The thing that made it worth going through was that after eight years of the worst president the United States has ever had to endure, we finally elected a grown-up. In Trump we have a savvy, successful businessman who in only six weeks after the general election has accomplished much more in terms of the economy and foreign relations than Obama did in eight years.

I am also grateful that we completely dodged the Hillary Clinton bullet. That sure was a close call considering how much lying, cheating, and deception was going on behind the scenes of the Democratic National Committee and the mainstream news media who was in collusion with the Clinton campaign on several fronts. Everything from advance debate questions, to allowing the Clinton camp to edit supposed news stories about the candidate, Clinton definitely had an unfair advantage over Bernie Sanders in the primary election, and over Trump in the general election.

It only goes to show that no matter how much lying and cheating she did, she still lost.

Once Trump was elected, the left went after the electoral college, even placing full-page ads in national newspapers — though I don’t understand that, since hardly anyone reads actual newspapers anymore — to help convince electors to change their vote from Trump to just about anyone but Trump.

Then there were the ridiculous recount efforts in several states led by the Green Party’s Jill Stein, a person no one had ever heard of prior to this year’s elections. It turns out that at least in two states, the recount had Hillary Clinton losing votes and Donald Trump getting more votes. I love when things backfire on the left like that.

Remember all of those loudmouth elitist movie actors and entertainers some current, most has-beens, who all promised to leave the country if Donald Trump was elected president? Well, they are all still here. I don’t think even one of them left. It’s all bark and no bite with these so-called celebrities, most who for some reason suffer from the mental disorder known as liberalism.

Most recently the #FakeNews media has been putting out gossip item after gossip item about how celebrities rejecting to perform at the Trump inaugural festivities on January 20. The “news” articles make it sound like Trump is begging these people to sing, dance, or do whatever they do, but all have said no because of Trump’s alleged misogyny, bigotry, and racism.

First of all, Trump’s transition team put it out there that they would like to provide some entertainment to attendees, but the team is certainly not begging anyone. A few acts including singing sensation Jackie Evancho have already agreed to perform, resulting in Evancho’s music skyrocketing to the top of the billboard music charts.

The silliest development has the Radio City Music Hall’s famous Rockette dancers lined up to perform at the inauguration, except for one of the dancers who has been given all the attention she wants by the #FakeNews media. This dancer who only goes by the name of “Mary” says that she doesn’t want to perform for “that monster.”

Really? Monster? She doesn’t know Donald Trump, she has never personally met Donald Trump and she is certainly welcome to her opinion, but if she doesn’t want to perform her duties as required by her employer, then she is also free to quit.

It’s gotten beyond ridiculous with the left. As much as us conservatives were mortified when Obama stole the first election in 2008, we went on about our business, hoping that maybe Obama was going to bring “hope and change.” He brought both alright. We certainly ended up “hoping” for the end of his presidency so we could “change” America back to being great again.

That’s not all, folks. Expect the attacks against Trump and his supporters to continue to increase in the mainstream media. These people are such crybabies on the left that they are truly embarrassing themselves. Never have I witnessed such a mass temper tantrum on display by leftists of all economic and social status.

Democrats across the board have also expressed their defiance against Trump in a variety of ways, starting with all of the mayors from New York, Chicago, Los Angeles and several other cities who have declared their cities as sanctuary cities for illegal immigrants. All have promised to defy any federal immigration laws and said that their law enforcement departments will not cooperate in identifying any immigration lawbreakers.

Congresswoman Maxine Waters said last week in an interview that she won’t even sit to meet with President Trump if invited. In typical liberal fashion, she called him a liar without offering any concrete examples. Waters has been known even in her circles to not be playing with a full deck, so I can’t imagine Trump having any need or desire to meet with this left-wing nut.

2016 also saw the deaths of many celebrities and historic figures like the infamous Fidel Castro. Among some of the famous who also left us were musicians and songwriters David Bowie, Prince, singer George Michael and actress Carrie Fisher, all in the last few months. Someone pointed out that these people all suffered some kind of addiction or immoral lifestyle helping speed up their deaths, but rather than to judge, let’s pray for these souls and all of the not-so-famous people who also left us in 2016.

Here’s to finally saying goodbye to 2016 and looking forward to a better 2017 with President Donald J. Trump. Cheers!
