Leaders of the European Union seem to have only one plan for Europe’s future: tell the rest of the world to stop having babies.
French President Emmanuel Macron doesn’t mince words as he spitefully attacks African mothers. London’s Guardian reports:
“ ‘One of the critical issues of African demography is that this is not chosen fertility,’ said Macron, speaking at the Gates Foundation’s “Goalkeepers” event on the margins of the UN General Assembly in New York.” (Translation: African women are not sufficiently “pro-choice.”)
The Guardian report continues:
“I always say: ‘Present me the woman who decided, being perfectly educated, to have seven, eight, or nine children. Please present me with the young girl who decided to leave school at 10 in order to be married at 12.’
“He added: ‘This is just because a lot of girls were not properly educated, sometimes because these countries decided the rights of these girls were not exactly the same rights as the young man. That is not acceptable.’ ”
Stop right there. According to Macron, I shouldn’t be here. My father was the youngest of nine. My maternal grandfather and his twin brother survived because their mother, Mary Joyce O’Brien, gave her life for them. In rural nineteenth-century Ireland, bearing twins was often a death sentence due to the onset of sepsis after birth. My Mary Joyce O’Brien died six weeks after John and Miles were born. Ah, had she only been “perfectly educated”! She could have “chosen” Macron’s “chosen” path of fertility!
“Wife of a farmer,” read her death certificate. My oh my, those farmers are backwards, aren’t they, Monsieur President? Just like all those tens of thousands who died defending their faith and families in the Vendée — vraiment? If only they’d thrown some incense in the direction of the Goddess of Liberty!
Maniacal Macron continues “. . .to be very straightforward, the future of the African young is not to leave Africa. The future of African young people is not to hope to become like a Europe or America of the 80s, but like an Africa of the 21st century.”
So if he can’t stop African women from having babies, at least they can keep them at home, instead of letting them come by the millions to Europe.
We’re beginning to see the point. Europe’s more “perfectly educated” population isn’t having any children. In fact, many of the EU’s leaders — Angela Merkel (Germany), Theresa May (UK), Mark Rutte (Netherlands), and half a dozen others — are childless. Between them, these leaders are sending hundreds of millions of Euros in “aid” to Third World countries for “family planning” — “Well, if we can’t have our own children, maybe we can persuade them to stop having theirs.”
How perfect is that?
Macron has been pushing this population-control drivel for a long time. So we find it “troubling” (to borrow a favorite term of prelates) that his visit with Pope Francis this past June did not elicit a public condemnation, correction, or even a comment from the Holy See regarding this fanaticism. Zenit.com cited the statement from the Holy See Press Office describing the “cordial” meeting.
“The contribution of religions to the promotion of the common good of the country, with particular reference to the commitment of the Church,” it said, was highlighted.
“Attention, it noted, then turned to global issues of shared interest, such as the protection of the environment, migration, and multilateral commitment to conflict prevention and resolution, especially in relation to disarmament.
“The conversation also permitted an exchange of views on various situations of conflict, particularly in the Middle East and in Africa. Finally, there was a joint reflection on the prospects of the European project,” it said.
Apparently, Cardinal Sarah was not invited.
One Person Who Made A Difference
Gosnell: The Trial Of America’s Biggest Serial Killer is a great movie, an instant classic. But it almost didn’t happen.
John Mullane, a reporter for The Intelligencer in Philadelphia, broke the story nationwide. “On April 11, 2013, I was in the courtroom with three other local reporters listening to the horrifying testimony of Ashley Baldwin, a Gosnell employee,” he writes. “I looked over at rows of empty seats marked with ‘media only’ notices.
“Disgusted, I snapped a picture of the empty seats and uploaded it to Twitter.”
What happened then? Mullane describes the fallout:
“When I took the picture, there were probably ten people in the courtroom,” he tells The Wanderer. “That was Thursday, April 11. Court was not in session that Friday, so the momentum built through the weekend, and pressure mounted on the Big League media to show up. By Monday, they started showing up — New York Times, Washington Post, Wall Street Journal, and Fox News. The place was elbow to elbow. One network even had an artist in the courtroom front row sketching the scene, treating it like a big trial.”
But taking chances is not always risk-free. “Photography isn’t allowed in Pennsylvania courtrooms, by the way. I thought for sure Judge Minehart would hold me in contempt when he took the bench Monday morning. He just admonished the press generally, and reminded everyone that there’s no picture-taking allowed.”
Mullane’s original picture appears on the gosnellmovie.com website, along with the chilling picture of “Baby A” submitted in evidence to prove that Gosnell murdered babies who were not only viable, but fully developed.
Philadelphia Court of Common Pleas Judge Benjamin Lerner called Gosnell a “charismatic sociopath.” After seeing this bombshell of a movie, you might well agree.
But It Wasn’t Easy
Gosnell producers Ann McElhinney and Phelim McAleer wear several hats, with stunning results. After the 2013 trial, interest in the Gosnell case quickly subsided, but they wouldn’t let it go. “We knew that there was a hunger for the truth — we knew that people were tired of fake ones and media cover-ups,” McAleer tells The Wanderer – but how to fund such an ambitious project?
They turned to an innovative source made possible by the Internet —“Crowdfunding.” They created a website and, as they report, “Almost 30,000 people donated over $2.3 million in 45 days. When it ended it was the most successful crowdfunding campaign on the Indiegogo website.”
Why weren’t other sources possible? “Bureaucratic inertia is not anything new, we understand that,” McElhinney tells contributors, “but we think this is something more, we think the reason no one acted was because the women were poor and of color, because the victims were infants without identities and because the subject was the Political football of abortion.”
Nonetheless, the “major media,” also known as “the usual suspects,” buried Gosnell with a blackout that continues today. One wonders why: after all, the movie portrays legal abortion very honestly in lengthy testimony from the trial. The abortionist testifies that she has performed 30,000 abortions (the abortionist at the trial had performed 40,000). But every one of them was legal – so what’s the problem?
Simply this: the abortionist describes in great detail what transpires during a legal abortion. By the end of her testimony, the defense attorney makes a very persuasive assertion: there seems to be very little difference between killing the baby outside the womb, like Gosnell did, and killing her inside, as the abortionist had done 30,000 times.
That could explain the blackout problem.
One last observation: a Catholic federal court lawyer points out that, after his conviction, Gosnell agreed to forego all his rights to appeal in exchange for a sentence of life in prison without parole. Why? Because Pennsylvania law provides for the death penalty. In fact, so do 64 federal laws.
“Look,” says the lawyer, “murderers accept life without parole all the time because they’re afraid of the death penalty. Let’s say it has a very real deterrent effect, even if it’s the penalty itself is very seldom applied.”
Somebody tell Pope Francis.
