Because that’s about where he has put himself on the edge of public outrage by his defiant, bold lies drastically hurting every American’s life and welfare. Did Obama expect people to remain mute and passive?
If he were capable of courtesy to other politicians, Obama might warn them about the political fire they’re playing with when they, too, deceive and snub voters.
Arizona’s two U.S. senators, shifty Republicans John McCain and Jeff Flake, richly deserve a warning after they both broke their pledge to oppose the deceptively named Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA), a measure to confer special rights on the sexually disoriented.
At a time of bubbling public outrage against political double-dealers, one could only wonder how much longer before the disenchantment erupts with volcanic consequences.
LifeSiteNews.com reported that Arizona was the only state to have two Republican senators who both voted for the bill pushed by homosexual and transgender activists so they can discriminate against ordinary people.
Also among the ten pro-ENDA GOP senators voting on November 7 were such supposed conservatives as Pat Toomey of Pennsylvania, Kelly Ayotte of New Hampshire, and Orrin Hatch of Utah.
Although sailing through the Democrat-controlled Senate 64 to 32, ENDA still faced a tough future when GOP House Speaker John Boehner expressed opposition to it in his chamber.
Cathi Herrod, president of the traditionalist Center for Arizona Policy (CAP), quickly issued a statement pointing out the Arizona senators broke their word to voters. She called their act “deeply disappointing and shocking.”
Herrod said, “ENDA is a false bill of goods: While it claims to end discrimination, this bill in fact fosters discrimination against business owners and employers with sincerely held religious beliefs.” The CAP web site posted copies of the two senators’ untruthful replies to candidate questionnaires.
Both McCain and Flake also campaigned as strong protectors of Arizona’s international border, but both dropped that pretense early this year and quickly joined the Senate “Gang of 8” to press for amnesty and continued open borders for tens of millions of illegal aliens.
McCain emphasized his commitment to amnesty by dashing off to the White House for a private meeting with Obama on immigration amnesty, among other topics, on November 7, even though the president was being rocked by public outrage at that very time over his repeated lies on Obamacare.
If this seemed to be the time that every Republican should keep his distance from the toxic president, McCain didn’t give a dang.
When the “bromance” of McCain jumping in to help Obama blossomed during the summer, a disgusted Arizonan posted his reaction at the web site of major Phoenix radio station KTAR: “This is the most worthless senator this state has ever had. Now he is in bed with the most worthless president this nation has ever had. There is a pattern being played out here.”
At a November 13 evening meeting of the conservative Arizona Latino Republican Association (ALRA), the group’s president, Rey Torres, told The Wanderer that McCain’s and Flake’s votes for ENDA are “par for the course when it comes to these two individuals.”
Referring to the ten Senate Republicans who joined Democrats voting for ENDA, Torres said: “Let it never be said that any of the devious senators who made this dubious list were ever defenders of morality or the will of their constituents or that of the American people. . . .
“Unfortunately, as things go in the Senate, there seems to be a prevailing culture of either acquiescence to or [advocacy] for any number of leftist efforts in an attempt to appear bipartisan,” Torres added.
Conservative Republican State Rep. Steve Montenegro told the ALRA meeting that there’s “a very concerted effort” by big-business elements and “moderates” to replace conservatives like himself in the Arizona legislature.
“They have actually decided to go on the offense and target conservatives,” Montenegro said, describing the kind of attacks principled conservatives face: “You would have thought we were ripping oxygen masks from babies when we tried to get a balanced budget” a few years ago.
Montenegro, a legal immigrant from El Salvador, spoke passionately in defense of U.S. sovereignty and border security. He said advocates of illegal immigration need to be told the truth “boldly, with love.”
