Mid-Term Elections . . . Mean Traditionalists Need To Save Their Freedoms By Voting

By DEXTER DUGGAN

The Democratic Party’s nominee for attorney general of Nevada, Aaron Ford, lashed out at pro-life crisis pregnancy centers in a July 18 tweet, calling them “fake health centers that have been lying to Nevada women.”

Vote for me for AG, Ford said, and “I’ll stand up for a woman’s right to choose.” His political campaign denounced Ford’s Republican opponent this year, Wes Duncan, for having a “radical anti-choice agenda . . . dangerous for women’s health.”

It probably didn’t comfort pro-lifers who serve pregnant mothers in distress that Nevada’s potential chief prosecutor from the Democrat side regards their work as spreading “false medical information” and “lies about safe and legal abortion methods” while consorting “with extremist organizations.”

A Ford supporter tweeted in reply, “Ugh — these places shouldn’t exist.”

Ford wasn’t alone among Nevada Democrat politicians seeking votes by glaring balefully at pro-life champions of mothers in crisis.

Another one, Democrat gubernatorial nominee Steve Sisolak, attacked a Las Vegas pregnancy center in February as a “shameful group” while adding that pro-life GOP gubernatorial candidate Adam Laxalt, who visited the center, has “anti-choice views . . . beyond the pale.”

Not content to promote slaughter of preborn infants at every opportunity, the political party of death widens its hostility to threatening anyone who would dare offer an alternative to the no-choice movement of pro-abortionism.

After Sisolak’s attack, Victor Joecks, a conservative opinion writer at Nevada’s largest daily, the Las Vegas Review-Journal, commented:

“Attacking crisis-pregnancy centers makes it seem as if Democrats see pregnancy as a zero-sum political game, not as a personal decision. If a woman gets an abortion, that’s one point for the left. But if she chooses life for her child, that’s one point for those right-wing religious zealots.”

California Democrat politicians and their pro-abortion attorney general, Xavier Becerra, who tried to force more than 100 Golden State crisis-pregnancy centers to promote abortion, finally were slapped down by the U.S. Supreme Court on June 26 in a narrow 5 to 4 vote.

Just one more knee-jerk leftist on the High Court would have meant a majority to compel pro-life centers to preach a pro-abortion message. The battle for the heart and soul of the nation points toward the November elections and beyond.

It’s not unusual to describe an election cycle as being critically important. But that grows truer by the year as unhinged political leftists grow increasingly dishonest, desperate, and violent against traditional people, even while deeply propagandistic dominant media pretend that the trouble comes from the right.

There’s no one more morally arrogant than a leftist who denounces “imposing your morality on me” while he battles like an ayatollah to impose his anti-humanity fanaticism on everyone.

Joecks, the Las Vegas opinion writer, told The Wanderer on July 31, “As recently as 10 years ago, Democrats told the public that they wanted abortion to be safe, legal, and rare. Now they’re attacking groups that provide pregnant women with free medical care, because that may lead her to choose life for her child. It’s an extremist position and one that isn’t supported by the American people — if the media reports on it honestly.”

On July 26 the conservative American Spectator site posted an article by historian H.W. Crocker III titled, “America’s Next Civil War Will Be Worse Than Our Last.”

Despite the distinct differences between the North and South back then, Crocker wrote, “they held far more in common than separated them — beginning with the fact that, as Lincoln observed, ‘Both read the same Bible and pray to the same God’.”

However, Crocker added, today the social divisions run so deep that there’s even disagreement on what a marriage or a man or woman is. Crocker wrote:

“The lunatic self-righteousness of the Left . . . , where disagreement is bigotry to be prohibited by law or even condemned and prosecuted as treason, is a consuming, destructive fire that will not be easily quenched, and cannot be reached by cool waters of rational argument.”

A sign of the current times, Attorney General Jeff Sessions’ July 30 announcement of a new task force at the Department of Justice to protect religious liberty acknowledged the threats faced by Americans today under moral assault by “progressives.”

Writer Alexandra DeSanctis posted at the National Review site on July 31: “The response from many segments of the left to Sessions’ announcement was predictably melodramatic, and the unfounded, vitriolic attacks against this task force — and on the fundamental value of religious liberty — are excellent evidence of how necessary it is to have such an enforcement mechanism to protect religious Americans.”

Noting that one extreme tweeter feared “another huge step forward in the Trump Regime’s creation of a regressive Christian white ethnostate,” DeSanctis wrote that progressives’ comments “also exemplify the political strategy of a…movement losing its bearings, sacrificing sanity in favor of stoking the fires of an ever-escalating culture war.

“Increasing numbers of thought leaders on the left put religious liberty in ominous scare quotes and redefine it as a buzzword for bigotry,” DeSanctis wrote.

How different that DOJ announcement would have been if Hillary Clinton rather than Donald Trump were president. Imagine, say, an Attorney General Charles Schumer or Maxine Waters announcing the upcoming arrests and criminal investigations of pro-lifers for opposing Planned Parenthood’s tax funding.

Nor are leftists’ vile assaults against moral tradition confined to the U.S. To take just one example, LifeSiteNews.com reported on August 1 about the evolving controversy of the Irish government planning to force even Catholic hospitals to perform abortions.

The pro-life news service said: “Ireland’s Prime Minister…, Leo Varadkar, said last week that taxpayer-funded hospitals could be taken from their religious owners to ensure that the Catholic Church is no longer at ‘the center of public life’.”

Western democracies had achieved some sort of balance of honoring God while not being sectarian, but God Himself these days seems to be an undesirable stranger whose believers must be neutralized by government at some level.

LifeSiteNews.com also reported on August 1 of another instance of a Christian students’ club at a university having to battle against the school administration’s requirement that it accept an openly homosexual man to run for a leadership position even though he rejected the club’s Statement of Faith.

In this case the school is the University of Iowa, and it subsequently began deregistering dozens of student groups, to strengthen its defense that it wasn’t selectively enforcing anti-discrimination policy against the Business Leaders in Christ club, LifeSiteNews.com said.

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau’s ravishing love of abortion and determination to inflict it throughout his nation have become all too familiar.

The British legal system evoked amazement over insisting on the enforced deaths of two ill infants in less than a year, Babies Charlie Gard and Alfie Evans, whose parents wanted to care for them, but judges pronounced unworthy of life.

With the U.S. Democratic Party increasingly flirting with militant socialism and the ills that entails, it doesn’t sound so surprising to read warnings against this today at conservative sites. On July 30 at the Les Femmes — The Truth blog, Susan Matthiesen wrote:

“The atmosphere is filled with murderous hatred against President Trump, his family, Sarah Sanders, and any person who voted Republican. Communism is rising here like it did in Russia in 1917, Mexico in 1926, Spain in 1936, Germany in the 1940s, Africa, China, Latin America, Albania, Lithuania, and Romania from 1947 until the fall of Communism in 1989.”

She noted how Catholics historically have suffered quickly under Communism.

Even 12 years ago her warning to Americans would have sounded debatable, but it seems less so today with violent, howling leftist mobs shutting off conservative speakers at campuses, while dominant — and deeply pro-abortion — media twist their stories, choking with hatred and loathing of Trump.

Their cocoon had been so comfortable and chummy, where Democrat lefties like Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama were beloved while GOP losers like Mitt Romney and John McCain were smirked off the stage. An unconventional activist like Trump comes along and media mandarins start fighting in desperation to retain their power that has so damaged the nation.

If only they had shown the skepticism toward the political left that they routinely exercised against the right, maybe the left wouldn’t have grown so overconfidently menacing these days.

A.G. Sulzberger, publisher of the fanatically pro-abortion New York Times, has lived a remote life of privilege in a golden cocoon, and his country-club digestion has been upset by the Trump presidency. “I told the president directly that I thought that his language was not just divisive but increasingly dangerous,” Sulzberger said he recently warned Trump at the White House.

One can only think of the mountains of innocent, mangled babies, whose deaths the Times has cheered along over the decades, and wonder at the presumption, arrogance and misdirection of this too-typical media baron.

A Committed Pro-Lifer

Meanwhile, establishment Republicans, though less directly menacing than socialist mobs, continue to push forward candidates who seem to lack the fire needed to cope today.

The Seeing Red AZ conservative blog on July 26 said one such GOP hopeful is southern Arizona’s Lea Marquez Peterson, whom it described as pro-amnesty and anti-Trump, running for the Second Congressional District.

The blog instead endorsed Republican Brandon Martin in the Grand Canyon State’s August 28 primary, saying he is “strong on border security, national security, meaningfully addressing the national debt and reining in spending. Brandon Martin is pro-life and a supporter of our Second Amendment freedoms.”

Ann Howard, a longtime southern Arizona Catholic, told The Wanderer on July 30: “I have met personally with Brandon Martin. He is full of energy, committed to traditional conservative principles with a slight libertarian bent. He is totally committed to the pro-life cause and he understands the border issues better than most because of the fact he lives and works in southern Cochise County (on the border). He is the face of the new Republican, with a pride in America and a heart for traditional values.

“I have heard Lea Marquez Peterson speak and lay out her vision for America. Her views seem tinged with a RINO, globalist, old worn-out Republican blather wrapped in conservative clothing. She indicated that she likes what Planned Parenthood does, apart from the abortion services, and would therefore be willing to keep funding Planned Parenthood,” Howard said.
