Powerful Vox Vitae Pro-Life Camp To Launch in L.A.

By REY FLORES

If anyone has followed my columns throughout the years, you’ll know that I am both pro-life and Hispanic. It burns me up to see how many people in the Hispanic communities throughout our nation fall for the lies of Planned Parenthood and the abortion and contraception industries altogether.

Being that Hispanics are the fastest-growing minority in these United States, the evil geniuses at Planned Parenthood have their eyes set on these communities. Cecile Richards and the rest of Planned Parenthood have dollar signs in their eyes when they look at young Hispanic people.

Along with the lies that the regressive left-wing Democratic Party extremists continue to use to pander to Hispanics, Planned Parenthood has ramped up efforts in states like California where there is a high Hispanic population. This is mainly because it operates in that state with much support from their pro-abortion elected officials.

This is why Vox Vitae’s mission is to “Educate, Empower, and Spiritually Nurture People to Actively Be a Voice for Life.” It is so important in a city like Los Angeles where at least 220 babies are aborted each day.

While education and street ministries like sidewalk counseling or “Face the Truth” public witness efforts are important in the fight against abortion, many times, aside from rosaries prayed and Masses celebrated outside of the abortuaries, there is still a need to add a deeper spiritual dimension to this battle.

By educating people in Catholic catechesis along with the sacraments, Vox Vitae hopes to provide spiritual strength, safeguarding the youth and families in the future. In addition, their summer camp will activate the Catholic youth of Los Angeles to combat the culture of death and “Be a Voice for Life” in their own unique way.

While other pro-life youth camps in Southern California have been successful, none offer parents and youths a uniquely Catholic education and experience. In fact, because of the recent positive feedback received by parents, the Vox Vitae Summer Camp will not only host a day youth camp, but also an adult evening camp.

Planned Parenthood knows that Hispanic families tend to culturally and naturally embrace traditional life and family values. So therefore, unlike its dealings with others communities, Planned Parenthood also targets parents in order to disarm them so that they can have unfettered access to their sons and daughters.

Vox Vitae’s approach is to educate parents and entire families to spot the signs of radical extremist hypersexual pro-abortion sex education classes targeting their kids in the public school system. By educating youth, parents, and adults in our parishes to defend life from conception to natural death, Vox Vitae aims to inspire all attendees to defend the right to life of future generations and to embrace a lifestyle reflecting the “Culture of Life.”

Lined up are many exciting speakers covering a variety of topics, including Tim Staples of Catholic Answers, Doug Barry of EWTN and Battle Ready, Fr. Stephen Imbarrato of Priests for Life, Astrid Bennett Gutierrez of The VIDA Initiative, Jesse Romero of Immaculate Heart Radio, Kellie Fiedorek of Alliance Defending Freedom, Pam Stenzel, Ramona Trevino, and Timmerie Millington.

In addition, the Carmelite Friars of St. Therese Parish, Alhambra, led by the current pastor, Fr. Philip Sullivan, OCD, will provide spiritual nourishment through the sacraments to all campers.

Another fantastic component of Vox Vitae is that it addresses the overall threats which the Culture of Death brings with it into our communities. Vox Vitae’s mission doesn’t end at stopping abortion; it also addresses end-of-life ethics.

The California physician-assisted suicide law came into effect on June 9, allowing doctors to prescribe lethal medications to terminally ill patients who request such treatment.

As Catholics in California and elsewhere are being exposed to the pro-death rhetoric that physician-assisted suicide is “compassionate” and promotes “death with dignity,” we are called now more than ever to articulate why “killing is not caring,” as Archbishop of Los Angeles José Gomez has said.

Gomez added that “true compassion means walking with those who are suffering, sharing their pain, helping them bear their burdens.”

Archbishop Gomez called on us Catholics to “proclaim and demonstrate by our actions” that all human life is precious and sacred and is worthy of our care and protection, from its biological creation to death as God wills it.

In addition to the Youth Summer Camp, Vox Vitae has launched a missionary program for young people dedicated to living out their Catholic faith by actively being a voice for life throughout the year.

Vox Vitae Missionaries will work with teens, adults, and families in the Los Angeles Archdiocese, fostering and further cultivating the ideas learned at Summer Camp. Through presentations, advanced training, and outreach events, the Missionaries will serve as a resource for all those seeking to use their individual talents to be an effective and compelling voice for life.

Because the purpose of the camp is to foster faith in action not only for the duration of the camp, but for life, Vox Vitae and its Missionaries will host Vox Vitae Day events where camp alumni can reconnect, have fun, and continue their pro-life education.

All teens, ages 13 to 18, and all adults are invited to register for Vox Vitae’s five-day Summer Camp, August 1 to 5, in Alhambra, CA at www.VoxVitae.org.

In addition to receiving spiritual nourishment, campers will be provided breakfast, lunch, and dinner along with snacks throughout the day. Transportation from camp to all outside activities is also included. Scholarships and multi-child discounts are available too!

Adults may also register online for the evening talks with a nominal fee for dinner.
