Pro-Life Activist Says . . . CMP Videos’ Facts “Will Break” Abortion Clinics

By DEXTER DUGGAN

PHOENIX — Undercover videos by the California-based Center for Medical Progress have put abortionists “definitely on the defense. They’re playing defense because the information . . . released will break them. It’s just a matter of time,” one of the CMP’s founding board members said in an interview here.

Troy Newman, who also is president of the Kansas-based Operation Rescue national pro-life organization, told The Wanderer that the video evidence “has had the abortion industry on the ropes so badly that they’ll stop at nothing to keep the Holy Grail of the left, which is abortion.”

CMP is under legal assault from Sacramento to San Francisco to Houston because abortionists “have to sully our name and lie about us, an attempt to discredit us, in an attempt to throw out the damning, felonious activity” exposed in the videos, Newman said.

Newman spoke with this newspaper before highlighting an evening fund-raiser here for Arizona Right to Life on April 21.

He told The Wanderer that a pro-abortion California newspaper columnist suggested to him that it’s unrealistic to think CMP is innocent, despite the legal assaults against it — from a Texas district attorney to a California federal judge and state attorney general.

However, Newman said, “I would say the ideology of the left, as evidenced by the last seven years of the Obama administration, will stop at nothing, will break any law or overstep any constitutional constraints, rewrite any regulations to accomplish their agenda, and the Number One priority is the radical proliferation of abortion.”

MHe told the fund-raiser audience later that evening that pro-abortionists contradict themselves when they portray abortion as a basic right that they don’t like to use.

Drawing a comparison, Newman asked if his listeners could imagine the publisher of The New York Times saying “freedom of the press should be safe, legal, and rare”? Or the National Rifle Association saying gun rights “should be safe, legal, and rare”?

“Their own rhetoric betrays them,” Newman said.

July 14, 2015, when the first of the CMP videos was released, “will go down in history as the beginning of the end of abortion in America,” he told the audience.

The abortion industry was “broadsided” by surprise at the release of the videos, he said.

Planned Parenthood isn’t “hemorrhaging” because CMP leader David Daleiden speaks out against it, Newman said, but because of abortion officials’ own recorded words about the methods they use to end babies’ lives and harvest their organs.

Citing an example of a Houston Planned Parenthood officer referring to obtaining “intact fetal cadavers,” Newman said, “Once they get their grimy hands on that baby, they hover over it,” dissecting the body parts.

While the dominant media hate to hear evidence from the CMP videos, they also don’t want to look into frequent cases of women damaged or killed by legal abortion.

Newman said he believes “we can close every single abortion clinic in the country with laws that are already on the books,” through application of needed legal enforcement.

“I’m sick of the kid-glove treatment the abortion industry gets every day in the media,” Newman said. “. . . They get a free pass every single time,” without necessary scrutiny.

He has become expert at reading autopsy reports because of “the sheer number of maternal deaths,” Newman said, mentioning the names of a few of the victims of abortion.

Abortion clinics aren’t health-care facilities because when a client starts hemorrhaging or stops breathing, they don’t know what to do to help her except call 911, he said.

“This is ‘health care’. . . . This is ‘saviors of women’. . . . They’re death merchants and now they’re criminals,” Newman said.

After pointing to the elitist racial ideas of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, Newman said, “These people are eugenicists. . . . Abortion is the solution to all of the left’s problems.”

A doctor in Africa complained that the United States just ships birth-control pills and condoms to his country, but “We need antibiotics” instead, Newman said.

As eugenicists try to deplete the next generation, they wish the people already alive that they’re preaching to weren’t here either, Newman said. “The people fighting for ‘reproductive justice’ never wanted you to be born to begin with.”

Opponents of animal slaughterhouses could sit in at meatpacking plants, and foes of nuclear energy could do so at power plants, Newman told the audience, “but if you sat in at an abortion clinic, you went to jail. . . .

“We’re never going to win this battle by us going to jail,” Newman said he thought. “They need to go to jail.”

Admitting And Conspiring

The stiffer penalty for pro-lifers is due to the federal Freedom of Access to Clinic Entrances (FACE) Act, passed by a Democratic-majority House and Senate during Democrat Bill Clinton’s first two years as president, and signed into law by the pro-abortion Clinton in 1994.

Saving babies’ lives right on the spot by sitting in at abortion clinics had become an increasingly popular strategy by pro-lifers in the early 1990s, until congressional Democrats and Clinton exposed babies to more deadly assaults from abortionists by treating only pro-life sitters-in as serious criminals.

If the civil-rights sit-ins beginning in the 1960s had been treated as comparably criminal, with a trip to federal prison and large fines, the civil-rights movement could have been strangled in its crib.

When The Wanderer mentioned that NBC television’s Chuck Todd in mid-April incredibly dismissed some of the CMP videos as “made up. Re-enactments,” Newman pointed out that abortionists themselves on the videos are “admitting to crimes and conspiring to commit crimes.”

It’s not CMP leader Daleiden who is making these statements, Newman said.

Pro-life pregnancy-help centers “now outnumber abortion clinics five to one,” Newman told the audience. “. . . We are destroying the enemy’s ability to make war on the children.”

A few moments earlier, he said, “Those who seek the will and purpose of God will see the power and strength of God.”

Answering an audience question after he concluded his talk, Newman said pro-abortion legal actions against CMP will be a “drawn-out fight.”

“I do believe in a just God who is going to hold these (abortion-industry) people accountable,” Newman said. “. . . We have really good legal counsel. . . . This is going to be a long, long, drawn-out fight. . . . We are in the infant stage, but we are going to win.”
