The Good, The Bad, And The Ugly . . . Cheers For Alabama’s New Anti-Abortion Law

By REY FLORES

First the good: Congratulations to the state of Alabama for bringing us closer than ever before since Roe v. Wade to making abortion almost unthinkable, in an unbelievable, unprecedented move

Here is what Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey stated in her own words on May 15:

“Today, I signed into law the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, a bill that was approved by overwhelming majorities in both chambers of the legislature. To the bill’s many supporters, this legislation stands as a powerful testament to Alabamians’ deeply held belief that every life is precious and that every life is a sacred gift from God.”

And here is Claire Chretien’s summary of the new law for LifeSiteNews:

“The law, the Alabama Human Life Protection Act, makes it a felony for doctors to commit abortions. Abortions are only allowed to ‘avert (a mother’s) death or serious risk of substantial physical impairment of a major bodily function.’ The law makes committing an abortion a Class A felony — punishable by up to 99 years in prison — and attempting to commit an abortion a Class C felony.”

So, this new law would punish any abortionist with a felony, punishing him with up to 99 years in prison. Aside from the clause that would permit abortions if a mother’s health is in “serious risk” — basically a myth that has been debunked by many doctors and obstetricians — all abortions are now illegal in Alabama.

Also, notably, the State Senate earlier passed the act 25-6, rejecting attempts to add exceptions for babies conceived in rape and incest.

In the nearly 20 years in which I have been involved in one way or another to fight against abortion, I would have never seen this coming. Amazingly this law was passed only a couple of years after the most pro-abortion president thankfully vacated the White House.

Of course, the rabid pro-abortion “news” media went into full Trump Derangement Syndrome mode. Though Trump has often spoken about defending the unborn, he had nothing to do with this Alabama law, but try telling that to the kooks at CNN or MSNBC.

Furthermore, the growing number of Democratic presidential hopefuls, and some of the fake news outlets predictably started throwing down the racism card.

The Guardian had a headline that read: “These 25 White Men — All Republicans — Just Voted to Ban Abortion in Alabama.”

Don’t forget, even though she’s a woman, Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey is still “guilty” of being white.

But did the lunatics on the left forget that it was seven old men in the Supreme Court of the United States who made Roe v. Wade the law of the land in 1973?

If anything, being pro-life is the antithesis of racism. As most Wanderer readers already know, Margaret Sanger’s Birth Control League of America, the predecessor to Planned Parenthood, was based on eugenics. Sanger’s view of non-whites, the disabled, and other “non-desirables” is well-documented, despite Planned Parenthood leaders constantly burying that history under the rug as much as they can.

Now, for the bad and ugly. Months ago, I wrote about an eleven-year-old boy named Desmond, who goes by the moniker “Desmond is Amazing.” Why is he so amazing? Because his parents have exploited this child as a “drag kid.” Yes, a child who is a boy dressed up in provocative women’s clothing and wigs, not to mention the garish makeup cross-dressing men are known for.

Recently, Desmond was chosen as one of a handful of homosexual “pride” spokespersons for the Converse athletic shoe company. Yes, the classic all-American Chuck Taylor high-top gym shoes have gone the way of many other former respectable institutions like the Boy Scouts of America and Major League Baseball.

All have succumbed to the fanatical pressure from the small, but very vocal and well-funded “gay lobby.” There’s no compromise with this group of people who demand tolerance at any cost, even if it tramples all over our own religious freedoms.

Our nation was founded on the God-given inalienable rights to speak freely, bear arms, and worship as we please. What part of the United States Constitution does the radical, socialist, social-engineering secular left not understand?

Along with Converse, another huge all-American institution has gone down the rainbow gutter. Anheuser-Busch, maker of Budweiser beer, announced recently that a new marketing promotion of their Bud Light beer will be packaged in rainbow-colored aluminum bottles. The only thing Budweiser hasn’t done yet is trade in their legendary Clydesdale horses for a bunch of rainbow-colored unicorns.

It wasn’t that long ago that Burger King had its “gay Whopper” marketing campaign, which amounted to the same tired, old food just wrapped up in rainbow-colored wax paper. Thankfully that promotion tanked, and we got our “straight” Whoppers back.

I know I have a little fun with this column making light about a lot of this pro-homosexual stuff, but it’s a serious threat to our children.

If it isn’t “drag queen story hour” for kids at the local public library, it’s the ultra-left-leaning PBS which this past week featured a homosexual “wedding” between two men on the children’s television program Arthur.

It seems like nothing is sacred anymore. Children’s innocence keeps getting robbed more and more with each passing generation. It’s up to us Catholic parents and grandparents, and young conservative activists as well, to fight against this constantly. We mustn’t give the left any more leeway or opportunity to bully us with its homo-fascist agenda.

So, there you have it. We had a huge step forward in defending the unborn with this new Alabama law, but we lost some ground in the culture wars with this Converse shoe thing and the Budweiser rainbow baloney. Look for all sorts of rainbow high-tops this summer and rainbow beer cans strewn about the streets and parks of America.

Let’s try and make the best of the coming days because we certainly have a hell of a fight ahead of us.
