One thing that I have never understood, at least since I became involved in the pro-life movement full-time, is: How can you say that you are pro-life and not fight against contraception, mainly the Pill and other abortifacients? Contraception is the precursor to abortion.
I don’t care if you are talking about actual abortifacients or condoms; anything that misdirects human sexuality and sexual behavior from what God intended it to be is to be condemned. We are obligated as Catholics and as Christians to fight against any and all forms of contraception that deviate from God’s plan.
The lies and deception go far beyond the killing of human life. As if that weren’t terrible enough, we also have the killing of the eternal souls of men and women. Who are we to take such a sacred reality as human sexuality and turn it on its head as something for us to play with — like unsupervised little children who cannot stop themselves from stealing cookies from the proverbial cookie jar?
Yes, the Pill and many other abortifacients kill babies and harm women, and also sometimes kill some women, but the main thing that the Pill has done is to kill the truth.
On June 6, American Life League, STOPP (Stop Planned Parenthood International), and over 50 cosponsors from 22 states and Australia will rally to expose the dangers of hormonal contraception. This marks the eighth annual observance of The Pill Kills National Day of Action. The 2015 theme is The Pill Kills Truth.
Events have been scheduled in the U.S. and abroad, including an educational meeting in Australia concerning the hazards of hormonal contraception led by Dr. Rory Donnellan, founder of Immaculata Pathology.
Discussing plans for the event, Rita Diller, director of STOPP International, stated, “On June 6, we will hit the streets and the Internet to decry the Griswold decision and the havoc the pill brings to women’s lives and to our world. Doctors, nurses, lawyers, clergy, moms, and dads from all walks of life — with facts in hand — will refute the lies of Planned Parenthood and Big Pharma.”
(Griswold v. Connecticut is a 1965 ruling in which the U.S. Supreme Court struck down a Connecticut law banning contraception. The court based its ruling on the right to privacy.)
Some of the notable cosponsors with national or statewide reach are Pharmacists for Life International, JillStanek.com, American Right to Life, Operation Rescue, the California Right to Life Committee, and Pro-Life Wisconsin.
“The truth is the pill is killing babies, killing and crippling women, and tearing away at the very fabric of society — the family,” added Diller. “There is no end to the lies that are planted by population controllers to ensure every woman takes her daily dose of the death-dealing pill. We will refute the lies.”
I encourage every one of you to visit ThePillKills.org and organize your own Pill Kills outreach event at your local Planned Parenthood or pharmacy where the deadly Pill is distributed. Women deserve the truth about the dangers of the Pill and this annual event is the perfect way to bring that truth to them.
One awesome pro-life organization in California sets up shop at the local mall and distributes information about the dangers of many of these abortifacients to women shopping there. This is one effective and creative way to go outside the traditional places and to meet people where they are.
Not everyone makes it to Planned Parenthood, thankfully, but perhaps a friend or relative of an abortion-minded woman may be able to get the information and share it with that woman.
