As a new year begins, why not consider doing a little redecorating around the White House, which already has had its walls rattling with the energy and earthquakes of the Trump administration’s first year. Why not add something new to the White House press room?
There are already the American flag and a picture of the presidential residence behind the lectern. How about adding a few large photos of thriving unborn babies? President Trump could say these just are tributes to America’s future blossoming under him, the new generation about to make its appearance whose earthly lives might well last into the 22nd century.
Avoid a direct confrontation like expecting the dominantly pro-abortion media to actually look at photos of aborted babies, the helpless evidence of what their grim propaganda has wrought. Just challenge their squirming consciences.
How could they object to seeing healthy babies? Well, they could because this is how other babies looked before they were aborted, and media propagandists recoil from acknowledging what the triumph of their advocacy has done.
On the other hand, the crowded press room sometimes has two people sitting in one seat right now. No, not one reporter on another’s lap. But an unborn baby inside a journalist.
Debra J. Saunders, White House correspondent of the Las Vegas Review-Journal, posted on December 15:
“Three reporters — Ronica Cleary of D.C. station Fox5, Jessica Stone of CGTN, a network based in China, and Anne Walters of Germany Press Agency DPA — have to squeeze through the throng with pronounced baby bumps. Kristin Fisher of Fox News just joined Ayesha Rascoe of Reuters on maternity leave. . . .
“Call the phenomenon The Other Trump Bump,” Saunders added. “Could it be that being a White House correspondent in the Trump White House is more effective than visiting a fertility clinic?”
However, Saunders’ story concluded with the unlikelihood that any of the media babies would be named in honor of the Trumps.
Still, don’t rule out miracles. Who at the beginning of 2015 would have said Trump would be president two years later after not only beating Hillary Clinton, but beating her soundly in the Electoral College? If such a person had made a few large bets on Trump winning, he could have retired early by now as a new Trump-made multimillionaire.
While one can acknowledge room for unlikely events, The Wanderer asked a few political observers about expectations for 2018, with control of the U.S. House and Senate at issue in November elections.
Conservative Republican political consultant Constantin Querard replied:
“The media has largely been anti-GOP for the last 30 years or more. We don’t generally win or lose because of the media. They play a part, but only a part. The results in 2018 will largely depend on whether or not the Republicans who are now running the country can produce real results or not. If they keep their promises, they will be rewarded. If they lose their nerve or can’t agree on the mission, they’ll pay a price.”
Querard, who had headed up Sen. Ted Cruz’s (R., Texas) presidential-primary campaign in Arizona, added:
“Would Trump acting more like Reagan help? Hey, everybody acting more like Reagan is always a good idea! In Trump’s case he doesn’t need to change very much. It is only about 10 percent of his messaging that pulls things off topic, which is a shame because his administration is producing very real results and victories that ought to be focused on until the media has no choice but to cover them.
“Instead, they use small things as an excuse to lose their minds,” Querard said. “Yes, in the long term it erodes confidence in the media, which makes them less of a threat to Trump in 2020. But in the short term it does deny Trump and the GOP some momentum they will need in 2018.”
Rob Haney, a retired chairman of the Phoenix-based Maricopa County Republican Party, told The Wanderer that Never Trumpers still have plenty of fight in them to oppose and try to harm the president.
“I believe the establishment cabal of Never Trumpers view 2017 as a very successful year. With the corruption of the Department of Justice, the Never Trumpers have skillfully, albeit dishonestly and illegally, maintained momentum in their drive to destroy the Trump presidency,” Haney said.
“With Sen. John McCain’s diabolical assistance, they were able to pin the completely fictitious and never-ending Russian collusion conspiracy on Trump.
“There is no record of Obama- or Clinton-supporting officials being prosecuted for their illegal activities. We can only hope that justice will be served this time rather than congressional hearings where ‘I can’t recall’ or ‘I plead the Fifth’ are the only results obtained,” Haney said.
“It now looks like the release of thousands of messages from the Trump transition team by the General Services Administration will keep the Russian collusion investigation going through the 2018 midterm election. With this continuing investigative strategy, the Never Trumpers will make the public so sick of hearing about the Russian collusion that they will vote Democrat just to show their revulsion with the investigation for which they have been led to believe that the Republicans are responsible,” he said.
“Ironically, they will be correct, because Attorney General (Jeff) Sessions could have prevented the whole fiasco, had he not been so intimidated by Sen. Al Franken’s questioning in his appointment hearings that he made the decision to recuse himself from the Trump campaign investigation,” Haney said.
“Had he not done so, Sessions could have refused to appoint a special prosecutor. Could you imagine a Democrat attorney general in similar circumstances making a decision to recuse himself?
“The Never Trumpers do not have to remove Trump to destroy his presidency. They can destroy it by handing the U.S. Congress back to the Democrats, and they are well on their way to accomplishing that goal,” Haney said. “You can call the Republicans many things; fools and RINOs come to mind. But you can’t call them smart or fighters. They are best known for folding like a house of cards.”

Northern California conservative commentator Barbara Simpson, formerly a television news journalist in both Los Angeles and San Francisco, told The Wanderer:
“It’s times like these that make me wish I had a political crystal ball. The whole scene at this point is one of vitriol and hate, and that’s in both parties, aided and abetted by a media which has sided with the Democrats who want to destroy Donald Trump and his presidency by any means possible.
“On the other hand, the Republicans, who are still in shock that actually Trump won, are angling to get their agenda done while at the same time undermining what Trump promised the electorate. They think the electorate hates Trump. I believe they’re wrong,” Simpson said.
“Trump captured millions of votes by promising a border wall and ending the influx of illegal aliens. He called for an end to Obamacare and a lowering of taxes and a move to get the government out of the lives of citizens,” she said. “Talk like that gets votes but scares traditional politicians of both parties.
“The conflict is not going away. The big drive of Democrats is to get Trump impeached by hook or crook, and they won’t give up,” Simpson said. “It all adds up to a political bloodbath on every political level, may mean the GOP loses control in Congress, resulting in a country that most of us will not recognize and ultimately will not like.”
