Your Holiness, it is a great privilege and honor to have you visit our country. We are thrilled that you come to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ our Lord and His Church. God surely knows that we can use all the help we can get here in the United States as Catholics.
I understand your concern for the poor and disenfranchised. I myself have lived in poverty and I have worked for many years to help the hungry, the homeless, immigrant populations, and survivors of domestic violence. I have also done everything I can to be a conscientious and responsible person when it comes to caring for our environment.
But we need you to help us fend off the soft persecution against Christians here in America.
First, please tell President Obama and his administration to quit shoving their pro-abortion agenda on America. Our country has become the main battleground against the systemic killing of the unborn. There are many more Americans who oppose abortion than those who support this infanticide.
I know you have spoken about abortion before, but Obama needs to hear it straight from you, our Church’s leader here on Earth. The gates of Hell, in a sense, are prevailing and the gates of Hell are directly in front of the White House and every single Planned Parenthood facility in the United States.
Underlining this is the release of the Center for Medical Progress’ videos showing Planned Parenthood’s disregard for human life, as well as its profit motive.
Are you aware that we are all being forced to participate in abortion because the United States government gives Planned Parenthood over $500 million annually in taxpayer dollars?
This must stop, so will you please make it crystal clear to our leaders that Planned Parenthood must be defunded immediately? Poor women in our nation have plenty of health-care options available to them for legitimate services; they would do fine if Planned Parenthood went out of business tomorrow.
Second, our renegade U.S. Supreme Court on June 26 redefined what marriage means to Americans. Marriage is a sacred institution defined as a covenant between God and one man and one woman. Today in America, two men can get married to each other, as well as two women. Tomorrow we will see people marrying animals if we continue to go down this path.
In celebration of this travesty and as a direct insult to all Catholics and other Christians, President Obama illuminated the White House on June 26 in the colors of the rainbow, a biblical symbol which homosexuals have co-opted as their rallying flag.
We also have a Christian woman named Kim Davis, who was elected as a county clerk in the state of Kentucky, and who was recently arrested for not issuing marriage licenses to homosexual couples.
As a Christian, Davis does not want to be forced to participate in such an evil.
In addition to Davis, you must have also heard about the numerous Christian business owners who are now being fined by the government and sued by radical homosexuals simply because they wouldn’t provide their services for same-sex “wedding” ceremonies. These Christian business owners do not want to violate their Christian beliefs.
Christian-owned bakeries, photo shops, and other businesses that provide wedding services are thus threatened and undermined by our government.
Last week I wrote a column in this paper about President Obama inviting a young man named Aaron Ledesma to attend your visit to the White House. Out of all the 69.4 million Catholics in the United States, Obama invites a practicing homosexual who has publicly written in his own blog that he does not practice celibacy in his personal relationships. Could you please, if possible, have a talk with this young man about the danger to his soul?
Lastly, while the Christian culture is being targeted, persecuted, and destroyed here in America, the only religious tolerance that exists now is for Muslims. While I understand your view about world religions coexisting in peace among each other, I assure you that this is not the case here.
The culture of political correctness festers in the United States like a social cancer that kills truth and turns men into mice. While everyone in the news media walks on eggshells so as to not insult Islam, the Catholic Church is slammed constantly as an archaic patriarchy which is no longer welcome here.
Some people may be afraid to speak the truth, but I am certainly not one of them.
Just as the Catholic Church was outlawed and thousands of Catholics, including many priests and bishops, were persecuted and executed during the Cristero Wars in 1920s Mexico, it isn’t hard to imagine that this is exactly where the United States is headed if we continue in this immoral societal descent.
We need your voice, we need your prayers, and we need your help. I couldn’t make it any clearer, Your Holiness. Catholics here in America are in serious trouble and if the man who sits in the Chair of St. Peter cannot help us, then we must simply continue to rely on the love and mercy of God as we await His return.
Before I forget, I think that while you are here, you can also remind any and all elected government officials who call themselves Catholic to quit supporting any of the aforementioned agendas. As a Catholic, I am as concerned as you are about saving as many souls as we can while we are here on Earth.
