When He Can’t Get His Numbers Right . . . Bad Catholic Joe Biden Shouldn’t Be Allowed To Keep Score Any More

By DEXTER DUGGAN

Game time! Let’s get our power lineup out on the field to awe our opponents as we approach the big faceoff in November 2020. Look here on our roster, the first pick from the NFL college draft in 1965! He played in three Super Bowls before 1973!

Whaddya mean old? He’s a big fan favorite! Don’t ya know how many autographs he used to sign? All the cheerleaders think he’s so cute! Why should it matter if he doesn’t know the name of his team? Or the number on his lifetime jersey?

Here’s the political parallel for Democratic Party long-timer Joe Biden, who should have dropped out of the lineup by now. The fact that some insiders in the locker room have a sentimental attachment to him, or some fans have fond memories of his days on “Shifty” Obama’s team, should mean nothing when looking for this year’s tough performer.

It’s increasingly plain Biden has serious cognitive issues that should preclude him from any consideration for the presidency. It’s not shameful for someone nearly 80 years of age if his thoughts often get scrambled. But you don’t want this guy routinely deciding national policy, much less have his finger on the famous nuclear trigger.

Donald Trump, by contrast, is a mere adept youngster.

If a victorious Biden were to enter the White House in 2021, he already would be older than the allegedly “senile” Ronald Reagan when he left the White House in January 1989, almost at his seventy-eighth birthday, after two full terms as president. And Reagan still looked hearty, not wan.

The video apparently shot in 2017 showing Biden talking about his hairy legs in a swimming pool, and about kids rubbing his legs, and his loving to have kids jumping on his lap, would have disqualified about anyone else these days. Worse, Biden was surrounded by kids at a swimming pool as he made these remarks.

A December 2, 2019, post at the Esquire site asked, “Why is the former vice president telling this story? Does he realize it’s making people — like the young girl he puts an arm around at one point — uncomfortable and confused?”

Much more recently, Biden once again exposed his serious cognition problems when he firmly said twice, within 16 seconds on a television appearance, that there already were more than 600,000 dead in the United States from the coronavirus — even though the worldwide death toll at the time was in reality less than half that figure.

A video posted at the Washington Examiner site on May 3 showed that after television host Joe Scarborough mildly prompted him that the correct figure was 60,000, Biden paused as if having to process that fact mentally before admitting he misspoke.

On February 25 the Newsweek site was among those pointing out that Biden had just claimed “150 million people have been killed since 2007” by U.S. gun violence. “. . . More than all the wars including Vietnam from that point on.”

This would have meant that in less than 15 years, nearly half of the entire U.S. population had been fatally shot. The aging Biden makes these horrendous gaffes without grasping how they conflict with reality. This daft political veteran has to be removed from the role of presumptive Democratic presidential nominee.

For practicing Catholics there’s the additional difficulty that bad Catholic Biden defiantly rejects fundamental Christian morality on issues like permissive abortion and “same-sex marriage” and favors governmental imposition of immorality. Catholics should have no interest in seeing Biden smear them and their faith any longer, from any political position.

James Asher, DO, an active Catholic in the Diocese of Phoenix, told The Wanderer on May 5: “I wonder if the Democrats pushing Biden forward is a manifestation of diabolical evil that eventually gets so confused it begins to be ridiculous. I’ve heard that although Satan and many devils are exceedingly intelligent, that in some ways they are childishly stupid, which I understand comes out in things like exorcisms.

“Could this be what we’re seeing? This whole thing smacks of cruelty,” Asher added. “People like Biden need caretakers. Why are they doing this to/with him?. . . Attempting to launch him as the best hope to lead the greatest country on Earth — although arguably better than forwarding a socialist — is not only unconscionable, but to him and his family, cruel.”

Conservative Republican political consultant Constantin Querard told The Wanderer on May 6 that Biden’s confusion is plain, but he won’t just step aside.

“Anyone who watches Biden work without notes sees the same thing. The man is clearly just a shell of his former self mentally,” Querard said. “But the idea that he is going to give up the nomination is nuts for two reasons.

“First, he is incredibly close to actually getting elected president of the United States,” Querard said.

“Second, all of the people around him who he might listen to have already decided what position they’re going to have in a Biden administration, and they’re not giving up their White House positions to the crew of some usurper who wants in.

“Could the Democrats essentially buy off everyone in a position to object, in order to coax Biden out of the race? Possibly, but someone would talk and it could backfire spectacularly,” he said.

Rob Haney, a retired chairman of the Phoenix-based Maricopa County Republican Party, told The Wanderer on May 6 that “the Democrat Party has increasingly used judicial corruption, voter fraud, and their control of the mainstream media (MSM) to advance their socialist agenda. The strategy of the party leadership was to use former Vice President Joe Biden to defeat Sen. Bernie Sanders.

“But over the last year they recognized that Biden’s diminished mental capacity made him a seriously flawed candidate,” Haney said. “But Biden was the only candidate with enough gravitas to defeat Sanders. Now their only choice is to attempt to minimize Biden’s many gaffes until the August 17 Democrat convention….

“I believe the party leadership will then force Biden to resign for health reasons, just prior to the convention,” Haney said. “Their willing accomplices in the MSM will provide a media frenzy of positive publicity for their anointed replacement at the…convention. Having used the rulings of tainted judges to promote the opportunity for voter fraud, they will depend on that and the media frenzy to win.

“To protect the most pro-life president in history, a massive voter turnout for President Trump will be required,” he said.

National conservative commentator Quin Hillyer pointed to his column posted on April 28 at the Washington Examiner site when The Wanderer asked him during a May 6 phone call about Biden possibly being replaced.

“There is a real chance, still small but growing, that the national Democratic Party might need to shove aside Joe Biden and engineer the party’s presidential nomination for someone else,” Hillyer wrote. “If so, the only way to do it while pulling the party together rather than splintering it would be to choose someone widely acceptable, but without the enemies a prior contender naturally makes during bitter party primaries.”

Candidates who had their chance in the primaries but lost, like Sen. Elizabeth Warren or Sen. Kamala Harris, wouldn’t have the right appeal, Hillyer wrote.

Those with the ambition to get their names before the public now, he wrote, first have to consider “how likely is it that Biden could be cast aside? Second, how could you make the right sort of splash to put yourself in the mix, without looking like it’s merely a brazen bid for attention?. . .

“The time is now, therefore, for other politicians to plan a splash. They get only one chance, and they need time to plan it meticulously. That’s why June 1 or so, not next week, is the best target date,” Hillyer wrote.

Meanwhile, commentator Liz Peek noted at The Hill political site on April 30 that if Biden were shoved aside, supporters of the candidate with the second largest number of convention delegates, socialist Sanders, naturally would want to see him as the replacement.

“Democratic leaders do not want to see Sanders resurgent; they are convinced he is unelectable,” Peek wrote. “But they also know that if they move to replace Biden at the top of the ticket and don’t elevate Sanders, the Bernie Bros would revolt.”

And don’t forget the cavernously aching Hillary Clinton, still hungry to claim what she lost in 2016.

“Hillary is hideously polarizing,” Peek wrote, “but she would be a more forceful nominee than Biden, has enormous name recognition and, perhaps most important, can begin and end a sentence without major detours. And she has not been credibly accused of sexual assault.”

The fact Biden started to do well in the 2020 presidential Democratic state contests after his early losses seemed to show the Democratic electorate had not moved as far left as the national media elite wanted. An old white man was turning out to be the favorite, not some sexually amorphous non-white female? How astounding.

On the other hand, even if a “moderate” Democratic electorate hadn’t noticed, Biden had allowed himself to be pushed further left by those same activists and media megaphones who, if they had their druthers, would have given some transgender illegal-alien woman the party’s nomination.

Biden had bragged that it was he who persuaded President Obama to come out in favor of “same-sex marriage,” and Biden himself performed one at his official residence — while the Catholic Archdiocese of Washington typically hushed itself and allowed Biden to get away with it while falsely claiming to be a practicing Catholic, confusing the issue for many.

And last year Biden, bowing to activists, came out for full taxpayer funding of permissive abortion after having long supported permissive abortion itself.

Untiring in approving ever-radical measures, Biden called for insurance companies to have to cover sex-change surgery as “a medical necessity, which it is,” the Washington Examiner reported on May 6.

Like abortionists, Biden expands the definition of “health care” to mean whatever radicals want.

Sounding the suggestion that others’ consciences must be suppressed in order to advance the sex revolution, Biden said, the Examiner reported: “Anyone involved in patient care, from the board of directors to a receptionist in charge of scheduling, could put their beliefs above your health care.”

Another Biden Backer

Finally, the name Martin Tolchin popped up as May began. Those who followed The New York Times’ political coverage in decades past would recognize him as a regular front-page byliner on supposed news, not just personal opinion, articles.

A biographical note at Amazon.com noted Tolchin’s reportorial influence at changing policies and covering politicians.

He was the typical Times reporter to make squish Republicans cower in fear of offending him and his fellow leftist writers who posed as neutral recorders of events. The GOP cowards would rather have their party lose more elections than be pummeled by Times disapproval. That’s one reason President Trump so enrages these writers whom he won’t defer to.

And why was Tolchin getting attention now? Retired from the Times, he felt free to speak his mind in a letter to the editor in its pages strongly supporting Biden as the best chance to oust Trump.

Tolchin flatly said he didn’t want an investigation of former Senate staffer Tara Reade’s accusation that Biden sexually assaulted her decades ago. Instead, “I want a coronation of Joe Biden. Would he make a great president? Unlikely. Would he make a good president? Good enough. Would he make a better president than the present occupant? Absolutely.

“I don’t want justice, whatever that may be,” Tolchin added. “I want a win, the removal of Donald Trump from office, and Mr. Biden is our best chance.”
