A Leaven In The World . . . Epiphany Of Violence At U.S. Capitol

By FR. KEVIN M. CUSICK

“Rise up in splendor, O Jerusalem! Your light has come, the glory of the Lord shines upon you” (see Isaiah 60:1-6), as we proclaimed on the day we mark the revelation to the world of a Savior through the wise men of His day.

Wisdom is needed no less in our own time. We all experience the wandering in ignorance of God’s will or of the ways to achieve justice in times of corruption, social breakdown, and decay of the moral fiber.

The uprising in Washington, D.C., on the very day of Epiphany riveted all of us. We watched and listened as protesters broke through barriers of security at the Capitol building and made their way into the chambers of the House and Senate.

Frustrated at not being heard on the evidence of voter and election fraud week after week since November 3, many seem to be at wit’s end as to how to break through the wall of silence sustained by the media and power elite.

Violence can overflow from crowds that go astray on the winds of sheer physical power made possible by their large numbers and by force of will. That happened in D.C. on January 6. Thousands gathered peacefully and prayerfully in support of President Trump who spoke before a small contingent broke away and forcefully entered the iconic building at the east end of the Mall.

Many are left wondering how security was so easily breached at one of the three most important buildings necessary for the function of our form of government. Talk of a false flag operation immediately followed, with photos of the shirtless Viking man standing at the central position of leadership in one of the two most important rooms in the building.

“See, darkness covers the earth, and thick clouds cover the peoples; but upon you the Lord shines, and over you appears His glory” (Isaiah 60).

This darkness and thickness of clouds which obscure vision and make murky the way forward for mankind must be lifted, and can only be relieved by some supernatural force. The work is beyond our human strength to achieve.

One man who was interviewed after the events recalled praying with others once inside the grand room where laws are crafted and approved by representatives of the people. He experienced well the need for God, however one many argue with his methods.

Nations around the world must have been as stunned as were we to hear the news that the evil of violence also marred the day. A woman was shot and later died. She was unarmed, could have harmed no one, and certainly seemed as though she was not harboring plans beyond breaking and entering.

“Nations shall walk by your light, and kings by your shining radiance” (Isaiah 60).

Our country, founded with high ideals, sometimes falls very short of the mark. That is very true of these troubled times in which we live. Our nation must return quickly to God. Human life must be respected and treated with reverence from conception to natural death.

Abortion has become a political whip with so much millions flowing from this highly profitable slaughter of the innocents into political campaign coffers.

Those who cast darkness cause others to stumble. Argentina just recently followed our own nation into the dark and diabolic way of slaughtering their own offspring with its legalization of child murder.

Those who reject justice and walk in darkness cause others to stumble. Scandal brings others down in its path.

Respect for the weakest and most defenseless among us must be a bedrock value for all we do. The fundamental principle of justice which recognizes the humanity of the person at very stage of existence must undergird all talk and action of justice. Until it does, we will be threatened by violence and hatred of every kind. Sin breeds sin. Injustice breeds injustice.

The abortion party, known by some as Democrats, has, in an evil turn, refounded their political cause upon this legal murder of preborn boys and girls. They tolerate no deviating from their deviation. Money and political power are a toxic mix for those who no longer bend the knee to the true God.

They are not Christian or Catholic who support in any way, whether by speech, thought, or action, the abominable crime and mortal sin of procured abortion.

“Raise your eyes and look about; they all gather and come to you: your sons come from afar, and your daughters in the arms of their nurses” (Isaiah 60).

Human life, and justice for the sake of its flourishing, must be the central purpose of all power in our land. The rule of law must reflect God’s will if we are to remain true to the tenets of “life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.” If they are to be more than words or empty promises our nation must return with hearts and minds to the Source of these and all blessings, beginning with the steadfast defense of the most vulnerable, the unborn child foremost among these.

“Then you shall be radiant at what you see, your heart shall throb and overflow, for the riches of the sea shall be emptied out before you, the wealth of nations shall be brought to you” (Isaiah 60).

Economic wealth, trade, employment — all of these secondary and temporal matters flow from justice as ordained by Almighty God. Seek Him first and His Kingdom, and, as Scripture reveals and promises, “all other things will be added unto you.”

Let us rise up, in peace, through prayer, for justice in God’s name. When the moneyed interests and global elites force us into a corner the time may come for civil disobedience. We pray the day never comes but we must prepare nonetheless.

As I write word comes that President Trump has accepted the Electoral College results and pledged an “orderly transition” to the next administration, which promises to be the most evil and anti-Catholic in this nation’s history. We must remain strong in the Lord and refuse all cooperation with evil men.

Christ was born to be the Epiphany of Peace on Earth. He must be truly born again in each of our hearts before He can truly bring peace to the world here and now.

“Caravans of camels shall fill you, dromedaries from Madian and Epha; all from Saba shall come bearing gold and frankincense, and proclaiming the praises of the Lord” (Isaiah 60).

Riches, power, possessions, these, and all worldly things come and go, will never last. All that we truly possess is only the Lord; His goodness and love, His salvation by grace. Laud Him.

Thank you for reading, and praised be Jesus Christ, now and forever.
