Our Savior And Redeemer… Christ The King

Part 4

A few years ago a low-budget movie caused a sensation among faithful Catholics: It was titled For Greater Glory. Although the story was not complete, it portrayed important aspects of the oppression of the Church in Mexico by the pro-Communist and Masonic government of an extremely evil man, named Plutarco Calles. The resistance led by good Catholic Mexicans was at first pacific, through petition and demonstrations.

Later on, the diabolical determination of the government to eliminate the Church in Mexico led those faithful Catholics to defend themselves through guerrilla warfare that caused great casualties among the government troops, and also gave the Church many martyrs.

Today there is a shrine being completed in Guadalajara, which contains relics of all the canonized martyrs as well as large photos of them.

I would strongly recommend all Wanderer readers to watch For Greater Glory, at least once. By watching it, you will see a remarkable similarity — not identity, but similarity — between Plutarco Calles and Barack Obama.

Why am I mentioning this movie? Because the protagonists’ Catholic war cry was, Viva Cristo Rey (Praise to Christ the King!). And Kingship is an Office of Our Lord Jesus Christ that many forget — He is our King! We may live in a republic, we elect our presidents and governors and congressmen and senators and everyone else in local governments (or most of them at least), but we can never forget that we are subjects of Christ the King, and if any law or ordinance or whatever is passed against the Will of Christ the King, we must oppose it, disobey it, and fight against it.

Because if we don’t, we betray our King and deserve His punishment. As simple as that. Truth is, if today Western countries — including the U.S. — are in such a mess, it is not because the enemies of Christ are cleverer, or stronger; rather, it is because His subjects are lukewarm (please read Apoc. 3:15).

Thus we must rediscover the Kingship of Christ, and stand up for it.

Christ is our Universal King. As King or Shepherd, He rules and guides His people by laws and example. The Sermon on the Mount (Matt. 5 to 7) contains His teachings about how to deal with our neighbors in a variety of way, including loving our personal enemies. And in chapter 23 of the same Gospel He deals with the enemies of salvation, the Scribes and Pharisees, whom He calls hypocrites, whitewashed sepulchers, and a race of vipers.

His Kingship is prophesied in the Old Testament, (e.g., 2 Samuel 7:12-3; Psalm 45 (44):6; Isaiah 9:6-7; Daniel 7:13-4) and was proclaimed in the New Testament in St. Luke’s Gospel, chapter 1. The description beautifully describes the encounter of the Angel Gabriel with the young woman who was going to be the Queen Mother of the Kingdom of Judah, the Gabirah, as the Hebrews called the King’s Mother:

“The angel Gabriel was sent from God into a city of Galilee, called Nazareth, to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the Virgin’ s name was Mary. And the angel said unto her: ‘Hail, full of grace, the Lord is with thee: blessed art thou among women.’

“Who having heard, was troubled at his saying, and thought with herself what manner of salutation this should be. And the angel said to her: ‘Fear not, Mary, for thou hast found grace with God. Behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son; and thou shalt call his name Jesus. He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father; and he shall reign in the house of Jacob forever. And of his kingdom there shall be no end’.”

Here we have the Kingship of Jesus Christ clearly affirmed by the ambassador of God the Father: “The Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father” — the throne of David, the throne of the great King, Prophet, and Priest of Judah is given to the Son of the Virgin Mother. “He shall reign forever and His Kingdom will have no end.”

Here we Catholics come in. Christ is not our president, or our prime minister, He is our King. And if we are worthy of the name Catholic, Christian, we must stand up and fight for our King. That is why we say in the prayer He taught us, “Thy will be done,” we do not say, “My will be done.” And if today Christianity is losing in America, it is because Christians want things to be done their way, not God’s way.

But the Kingship of Christ was not affirmed only privately, by the angel to His Queen Mother. Jesus affirmed it publicly, in front of the representative of the Caesar of Rome, then the most powerful man on earth.

He told Pilate, “My kingdom is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, my servants would certainly strive that I should not be delivered to the Jews: but now my kingdom is not from hence. Pilate therefore said to him: Art thou a king then? Jesus answered: You [rightly] say that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world; that I should give testimony to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, hears my voice” (John 18:36-7).

His affirmation of Kingship has been summarized in three Latin words: “Ego Sum Rex!” (I am King!) but it is in the last sentence where we come in: “Everyone that is of the truth, hears my voice.”

Then we ask ourselves:

“Are we, American Catholics, for the truth? Are we really for the King? Or have we succumbed to political correctness, to indifference to the murder of innocent babies, to legalized sodomy, to helping the enemies of the cross of Christ, radical Islam?”
