PHOENIX — With Obama des- perate to win “immigration reform” that would lock in millions more votes for his Culture of Death, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bish- ops didn’t even demand hardball horse-trading to cut some funda- mental deals with him.The USCCB could have said something like, “As much as we both want open borders, we can’t help you on immigration until you publicly pull your knives out of our back on Obamacare.”
Dream on. The bishops vow to do everything in their power this fall to help shove Obama’s “im- migration reform” through Con- gress — including pressuring Catholic congressmen — without the USCCB getting even minor concessions from the president on his immoral HHS mandate, which requires health-insurance plans to provide coverage at no cost for contraceptives, abortion inducing drugs, and sterilization as part.
In an August 27 interview, The Wanderer asked a Catholic Latina who often works among illegal immigrants if it would have made sense for the USCCB at least to try to cut a hard bargain with Obama.
“I one hundred percent agree with you. Obviously there could have been some kind of ex- change between the [USCCB and White House]. Our priorities are all messed up,” said Luz Fuenzal- ida, a Chilean native who received U.S. citizenship earlier this year.
A longtime legal Arizona resident, Fuenzalida reaches out to poor La- tinos who often adopt immoral lifestyles after arriving in the U.S. illegally, such as living together without marriage or having abortions, as well as leaving the Cath- olic Church. She strives to have them change their ways.
“Too often the price of illegal im- migration comes along with im- moral behavior,” Fuenzalida said. ” Not paying taxes or even hav- ing the intention of paying taxes.
They have learned to break the law and get away with it,” and through their example teach their children the same behavior.As for the USCCB plan to help pass amnesty this fall, Fuenzalida said, “I found it horrifying, to be honest with you. I found it very confusing.” If signed into law, the measure wouldn’t only legal- ize those already here but bring in even more people plus their fami- lies, she said.
