When The Truth Is Hate And Love Is A Lie

February 11, 2021 Our Catholic Faith No Comments

By FR. KEVIN M. CUSICK

“Rachel” Levine is a man who thinks he’s a woman.
Ordinarily, that wouldn’t of necessity be a problem because throughout history a lot of people have thought a lot of things that weren’t true. When it did happen others might have simply shaken their heads and said “tsk, tsk” and generally been kind and understanding about the whole thing, especially if said delusional is a patient in a mental hospital.
But these are not ordinary times. Everything is new, improved, modern, and updated. Everybody’s okay. Kids especially know this is true. All we have to do is ask the kids what they think and we’ll all finally get it right.
That was the response by a middle-aged leftist to an 84-year-old father recently in a family chat: You’re wrong about politics, elections, and what’s best for the country. Why don’t you just ask the kids for wisdom and you might get some of the right ideas about the world for once?
I was young once, however, and I know how it works. As when I thought that men who held office in a certain big church were always worthy of it or that big city newspapers always told the truth at all costs.
But then I grew up and realized that wisdom comes through pain, and that the most profound pain is not always the growing kind. I learned that bodies begin to decline but that pursuit of the good, the true, and the beautiful is a lifelong spiritual journey that gets better even as the faculties used to climb the mountain of wisdom grow frail.
Suffering is the price of the most profound growth which is spiritual in nature. That’s why I believe that we shouldn’t put the burden of wisdom on our youth. That’s lazy. We should teach them and be patient with them and demand that they grow as we have learned so to do.
But back to “Rachel.” The failure of the institutions can be traced back to the suggestion of the family leftist: Ask the kids what they think.
It’s not about the kids: It’s a ruse to continue the deconstruction of Western Civilization. You see, it’s all become just too hard to do anything more demanding than push the food around on the plate or scratch our brains to come up with real thoughts. Let’s just stick to collages and finger painting.
The real plan is simply to use the kids to get what the adults want. Everybody knows the kids don’t know what they want except perhaps to enjoy themselves and be young doing it, for the most part. Parents and adults who cared were always the ones who made the difference for the youth by demanding more of them and setting the bar higher so they would make an effort to reach it. And the failure sometimes encountered in attempting to do so had value: taught lessons, imbued courage, conferred — wisdom.
And that’s what the leftists in power today, both in the Church and the world, simply do not want: wisdom. It’s inconvenient. We need to be kids, they say, they know how to simply enjoy life without all the baggage. Maybe it’s the hippies who now occupy Wall Street and the academy and they haven’t changed.
So what’s necessary is to get people to change what they think so we can all agree. But to get people to change their thoughts you have to change their language. That’s why men can now be women and women, men. Whites are racist because of the color of their skin. But other colors can never make a person a racist. And everyone has to agree and to say so or there will be dire consequences.
Change the language and change the thinking. Change the thinking and, what? Life isn’t difficult or demanding because everybody agrees with me? Or everybody agrees with me so I have power?
Or perhaps evil is the best explanation for rejecting what God has made. A man says he’s a woman and dresses like one. But those who disagree that clothing, thoughts, words, and, God forbid in some cases, surgery, make it true are canceled and excommunicated from society. Change the words so you can change the ideas. Conform. Or pay the consequences.
We don’t say “tsk, tsk” anymore because we’re not innocent characters in a Hardy Boys or Nancy Drew mystery. We’re all adults because childhood for many has been destroyed and language is often brutal and crude, especially at places like Twitter where the enforcers impose the groupthink as Brave New World, 1984, and Animal Farm all become prophecies fulfilled. The same Internet that brought us into the wonders of social networks and instant likes for our personal photos of dogs, vacations, and selfies has us all living in a virtual adult bookstore where once unimaginable porn and the worst of human nature is only a click away.
Twitter has banned a Christian group for stating the truth. Because “Rachel” thinks he’s of the female sex we all must believe it as well and conform our speech to the lie or face draconian consequences. Or at least lose legitimacy in the hothouse world of social media. “No more likes or retweets for you.”
We used to rue the brutality of Dickens’ day. He’d be shocked and appalled at our violated humanity. Poverty of the body imposed by circumstances is one thing, but lolling about in the iniquitous den of coarse objectifying images and evil words is quite another. One can be poor and holy. The saints proved that.
The kernel of the thing seems to be calling evil something good. Hence, the draconian punishment of those who refuse to call a man “woman.”
We who believe understand the monstrosity of attacking the Creator by manipulating His creation. It is not a little thing to reject the handiwork of the Master Artisan. We see the beauty of a tiny bird and take in the majesty of the tallest mountain. The wide sea bathes us and the sun warms us. Do we not call these good? Yes, “He saw all that He made and said that it was good.”
For us these are not merely words: They are reality. We are governed by the Word or in our ungoverned wildness we experience no liberty at all but only slavery in the rebelliousness of our minds.
So a man who calls himself Catholic and a leader in the White House follows the promptings of evil men who pull his strings because he long ago surrendered the fight for wisdom along with his Catholic faith. The Word is now reduced to sacrilegious and useless Communions at Mass for form’s sake. Because, you see, if a man can be called a woman, then an unreformed and scandalous baptized Catholic can also claim to be in a state of grace.
That baptized Catholic who doesn’t act like one is an instrument in the grand project to change our thinking. That is why the doctor who thinks he’s a woman has been promoted to a position of national influence by that man named Biden.
Wisdom commands for those who believe, however, that evil is never good and Truth is always love. That these endure beyond suffering and the grave prove them right.

Now more than ever, vehicles like The Wanderer are needed for clarification and guidance on the issues of the day.

Catholic, conservative, orthodox, and loyal to the Magisterium have been this journal’s hallmarks for five generations. God willing, our message will continue well into this century and beyond.
