Bishop Gorman seeks candidates to fill two full time AP level teaching positions for the 2021-2022 school year in the subject areas of Calculus/Statistics and Physics

Bishop Thomas K. Gorman Regional Catholic School is a college preparatory school located in Tyler, Texas. It is an educational ministry of the Catholic Diocese of Tyler led by Bishop Joseph Strickland. The sixth through twelfth grade school provides a rigorous academic experience within a caring community and culture infused with the values informed by Christian faith.

As the mission of a Catholic School is the education and formation of students as whole Persons into the Image of Jesus Christ, all subjects and activities in a Catholic School should be imbued with this theological anthropology.  Catholic School teachers should understand their role as vocation and ministry, and they should seamlessly integrate the Christian faith into their teaching. They must also affirm the teaching of the Catholic Church on faith and morals.

For example, instruction in the sciences, while pursuing and utilizing all available methods for scientific inquiry, should convey to the student the dignity of the human person from conception until natural death, marriage, the family, the true common good, and that science is at the service of truth. Math should be presented as a language informed by reason with which we are enabled to plumb the depths and beauty of God’s creation and advance authentic development.

Bishop Gorman strives to graduate young men and women of well-formed Christian character and living faith who can serve every segment of both civil and ecclesial society. They should be prepared to become the future leaders of excellence and virtue whom the Church and the Nation need. This is accomplished through rigorous academic instruction offered by master teachers who are living examples of an integrated Christian faith and life.
