The Catholic version of no-fault divorce?

September 8, 2015 World News Comments Off on The Catholic version of no-fault divorce?

Today we received the texts of the two Letters Motu Proprio from His Holiness Pope Francis which change the Codes of Canon Law concerning the procedures for declarations of nullity for both the Latin and the Eastern Church.  The texts are in Latin and Italian only right now. Remember, we put “annulments” in “…”, because the Church doesn’t annul.  The Church determines, with moral certainty (we hope and pray) that there wasn’t a marriage bond, that it was always null.  So, properly, we talk about declarations of nullity, not “annulments”, though in shorthand and common parlance we resort to the inaccurate term. After reading through the new rules and after reading the interventions of the presenters at the presser this morning,…Continue Reading

Transsexuals cannot be godparents, Vatican tells priest

September 7, 2015 World News Comments Off on Transsexuals cannot be godparents, Vatican tells priest

The Vatican told a Spanish bishop that transsexuals cannot be godparents after he asked for a formal answer on the matter, the cleric in the diocese of Cadiz and Ceuta said. Bishop Rafael Zornoza Boy said the Vatican’s doctrinal arm replied that transsexuals “publicly show an attitude contrary to the moral requirement to resolve one’s sexual identity problem according to the truth of one’s sex”. In a statement on his diocese’s website, Zornoza Boy said: “Pope Francis has effectively said on several occasions, in line with Church teaching, that this behaviour is against man’s nature.”

The Rigging of a Synod? – The Betrayal of our Families

September 6, 2015 World News Comments Off on The Rigging of a Synod? – The Betrayal of our Families

A new book, The Rigging of a Vatican Synod?: An Investigation into Alleged Manipulation at the Extraordinary Synod on the Family, will shed much light on allegations that the Extraordinary Synod, held in Rome last October, was subject to manipulation. The book has been written by highly respected Vatican journalist Edward Pentin and carries the endorsement of Wilfrid Fox Cardinal Napier, Archbishop of Durban. Cardinal Napier is one of the fifteen members of the permanent council of cardinals and bishops overseeing the Synod of Bishops, he attended the Extraordinary Synod and was a member of the committee that drafted the final relatio synodi of that Synod. In this brief review we would like to draw attention to a few of…Continue Reading

Kim Davis Broke an Illegitimate, Evil Law, and God Bless Her for It

September 5, 2015 World News Comments Off on Kim Davis Broke an Illegitimate, Evil Law, and God Bless Her for It

Kim Davis, the county clerk in Kentucky who refuses to issue gay “marriage” licenses, is now in jail. She was summonsed to court and thrown behind bars until she agrees to issue them. Welcome to America. I admit that my own perspective on this situation has, as Barack Obama might say, evolved over the past couple of days. I’ve always of course known that Kim Davis is right for refusing to sign her name to the evil of gay “marriage,” but I wasn’t always convinced that the right path was to stay in office rather than resign in protest. I’ve come to appreciate and greatly admire her decision, and that revelation occurred when I understood both that Kim Davis is…Continue Reading

Head of CDF, Cardinal Müller warns of a split as big as the Reformation

September 4, 2015 World News Comments Off on Head of CDF, Cardinal Müller warns of a split as big as the Reformation

The Prefect of the CDF, Cardinal Gerhard Müller, has criticized in Regensburg on Tuesday a “climate of the German claim to leadership for the whole universal Church”. At a book presentation, he pointed out the high number of people leaving the church, the deserted confessionals and empty seminars and religious houses in Germany. Often he has been asked from where the establishment of the so-called “German Church” derives the claim to be pacemaker for the universal Church with all the symptoms of a dramatic decline precisely on questions of sexual morality and the Catholic teaching on marriage. Müller warned against drawing from the situation in Europe conclusions about the future of other continents. “We should not promise others so that…Continue Reading

When Defiance of Marriage Law Was Hailed as Heroic

September 4, 2015 World News Comments Off on When Defiance of Marriage Law Was Hailed as Heroic

Kim Davis, the county clerk in Kentucky who will not issue marriage licenses to anyone because, she says, she cannot in good conscience issue them to same-sex couples is being sharply criticized for lawlessness and abuse of her office. Consider a few of the precedents for her conduct: In 2004, Mayor Gavin Newsom of San Francisco directed city officials to issue marriage licenses to same-sex couples, in defiance of California state law. In 2004, Mayor Jason West of New Paltz directed

Good News . . . Brief update on Father John Corapi

September 1, 2015 World News Comments Off on Good News . . . Brief update on Father John Corapi

A bit of good news to share: A reliable source has informed me that Father John Corapi, a popular priest among orthodox Catholics who departed public life after a tumultuous period a few years ago, remains in the priesthood and is re-establishing his spiritual life. There’s no indication he’ll be returning to public life anytime soon, if ever. However, it’s nice to know that Father Corapi can at least be a quiet prayer warrior during this extremely difficult time in the Church and world. I won’t go into the particulars about what transpired in the past – it’s water under the bridge – and I’m sure there’s information on the Internet (some of it more reliable than other

9th Shocking Video: Planned Parenthood Sells Intact Aborted Babies, One “Just Fell Out” of the Womb

September 1, 2015 World News Comments Off on 9th Shocking Video: Planned Parenthood Sells Intact Aborted Babies, One “Just Fell Out” of the Womb

The Center for Medical Progress released a new video this morning — the 9th in its series of videos catching the Planned Parenthood abortion business selling aborted babies and their body parts. This latest video catches a Planned Parenthood medical director discussing how the abortion company sells fully intact aborted babies — including one who “just fell out” of the womb. The ninth video in the Planned Parenthood baby parts scandal focuses on Advanced Bioscience Resources, Inc. (ABR), the small and secretive company similar to StemExpress that has harvested and sold fetal body parts at Planned Parenthood clinics longer than any other entity. The video features undercover conversations with Dr. Katharine Sheehan, the long-time medical director of Planned Parenthood of…Continue Reading

All priests will be able to forgive sin of abortion during Jubilee for Mercy

September 1, 2015 World News Comments Off on All priests will be able to forgive sin of abortion during Jubilee for Mercy

September 1, 2015 7:33 AM Vatican City, Sep 1, 2015 / 06:33 am (CNA/EWTN News).- In a new set of pastoral guidelines for the upcoming Holy Year of Mercy Pope Francis has made some significant moves, allowing all priests to forgive the sin of abortion and granting SSPX priests the faculty to forgive sins. “One of the serious problems of our time is clearly the changed relationship with respect to life,” the Pope said in a Sept. 1 letter addressed to Archbishop Rino Fisichela, President of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, charged with organizing the Jubilee. In today’s society “a widespread and insensitive mentality” has become an obstacle to welcoming new life, with many who don’t fully understand…Continue Reading
