President Trump has nominated Callista Gingrich, the wife of former Speaker Newt Gingrich (R-Ga.), as ambassador to the Holy See, the White House announced Friday. The nomination comes just five days before Trump is set to meet with Pope Francis at the Vatican during his first trip abroad as president. The nomination follows months of speculation and vetting that at one point, according to a New York Times report, nearly drove Gingrich to withdraw herself from consideration.

San Salvador, El Salvador, May 19, 2017 / 01:14 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- A nearly 40 year-old murder case was reopened this week to properly prosecute the suspected killer behind the Salvadorian archbishop’s martyrdom. Because of an amnesty law that prohibited the prosecution of criminal acts stemming from the El Salvador Civil War, the alleged murderer of Archbishop Oscar Romero was never convicted of any crime. The law was lifted last year by the country’s constitutional court, reopening cases from 1980 to 1992.

Notre Dame Protest of Pence Twists Catholic Social Teaching

May 20, 2017 World News Comments Off on Notre Dame Protest of Pence Twists Catholic Social Teaching

This Sunday, vice president Mike Pence will return to his home state of Indiana to deliver the commencement address at the University of Notre Dame. For the third time in several years, the school’s graduation ceremony will be plagued by controversy, as a group of students plans to walk out during Pence’s speech. The students’ main grievance is that Pence’s supposedly “anti-LGBT” record as governor of Indiana is harmful to vulnerable members of the Notre Dame community. The group’s Facebook event indicates that around 70 students have signed up to take part in the walkout, and about 2,000 seniors will graduate from the university on Sunday Read more at: http://www.nationalreview.com/corner/447790/notre-dame-walkout-mike-pence-speech-planned

Planned Parenthood is Ditching the Failed “Pro-Choice” Label. Here’s Why

May 12, 2017 World News Comments Off on Planned Parenthood is Ditching the Failed “Pro-Choice” Label. Here’s Why

The “pro-choice” label has not been working out so well for the abortion chain Planned Parenthood. The labels pro-choice and pro-life have been used for decades to help identify people’s positions on abortion, but young adults seem to be moving away from those labels. Abortion activists often refer to themselves as “reproductive rights” advocates rather than “pro-choice” now; and Planned Parenthood has been following the trend. This week, the abortion chain’s CEO Cecile Richards talked with the pro-abortion blog Bustle about the shift in the rhetoric. “I think the language is completely outdated, and in f

Bishop Conley: The Pro-Choice Political Dictatorship of Relativism

May 9, 2017 World News Comments Off on Bishop Conley: The Pro-Choice Political Dictatorship of Relativism

In 2005, Cardinal Joseph Ratzinger, who would soon be elected Pope Benedict XVI, preached that “we are building a dictatorship of relativism that does not recognize anything as definitive and whose ultimate goal consists solely of one’s own ego and desires.” In the past month, we’ve learned that relativism can be a very cruel dictator. Most basically defined, the pro-choice political position is that the “right to choose” is sacrosanct, and that no one may legitimately question the moral choices of another with regard to abortion. That overwhelming and indisputable scientific evidence regarding the beginning of unique human life through conception, has no place in the political conversatio

These Republicans Voted Against the Bill to Defund the Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

May 6, 2017 World News Comments Off on These Republicans Voted Against the Bill to Defund the Planned Parenthood Abortion Biz

Republicans in the House of Representatives yesterday voted for a Reconciliation bill that would defund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. This was the second attempt to get enough votes on the reconciliation bill that would not only defund the nation’s biggest abortion corporation but also repeal major portions of Obamacare. The first attempt to pass the bill saw liberal Republicans oppose the repealing Obamacare portion and conservative Republicans not happy as well because it did not repeal Obamacare fully. Republican leaders reworked the legislation, called the American Health Care Act, and Republicans passed the measure despite

Cecile Richards Comes Unglued After House Defunds Planned Parenthood: Republicans Hate Women

May 6, 2017 World News Comments Off on Cecile Richards Comes Unglued After House Defunds Planned Parenthood: Republicans Hate Women

Planned Parenthood abortion business president Cecile Richards it’s not happy that the House of Representatives voted yesterday to defund Planned Parenthood. The main response of the CEO of the nation’s biggest abortion conglomerate can be summed up in three words: Republicans hate women. Even though the legislation has nothing to do with women’s health care or its access and even though Planned Parenthood is predominately an abortion business that provides no legitimate medical care or health services to pregnant women, that didn’t stop Cecile Richards from falsely characterizing the vote as one denying women appropriate health care.

Vatican City, May 4, 2017 / 05:27 pm (CNA/EWTN News).- The House passed a repeal of the Affordable Care Act and a replacement health care bill on Thursday, but one bishop warned that the new bill poses serious problems for the vulnerable. Nine Catholic Colleges to Honor Opponents of Catholic Teaching at Commencement Ceremonies

May 4, 2017 World News Comments Off on Nine Catholic Colleges to Honor Opponents of Catholic Teaching at Commencement Ceremonies

This spring’s commencement honorees at nine Catholic colleges include pro-abortion politicians, a dissenting priest, and advocates for same-sex marriage, according to The Cardinal Newman Society’s annual review of commencement speakers and honorary degree recipients at more than 200 Catholic colleges in the United States. “It’s important to note that these colleges are going in the opposite direction of Catholic education generally, as Catholic identity continues to improve nationwide,” said Patrick Reilly, president of The Cardinal Newman Society. “Still, these c

Matt Walsh: Dear Christians, there’s nothing ‘compassionate’ about helping people get to Hell

May 3, 2017 World News Comments Off on Matt Walsh: Dear Christians, there’s nothing ‘compassionate’ about helping people get to Hell

I received this email yesterday. The subject line, as you could guess, was “Compassion”: Matt, you call yourself a Christian but you have no compassion. The Jesus I believe in just wants people to be compassionate towards each other. We are not told to be judgmental to others because of who they love or what lifestyle they choose to have or what gender they identify as. Who are you to say what is wrong or right? We shouldn’t be focused on talking about “sin” or telling other people that they might be going to Hell. You have no right to say what a “sin” is. Our job is to be compassionate to all! Compassionate isn’t when you’re judging or telling…Continue Reading
