Oh, for us social animals to be among our familiar herds once again. As singer-songwriter Joni Mitchell musically lamented in the 1970s, you don’t know what you’ve got till it’s gone. We may not appreciate what’s right in our faces because of its excessive familiarity, but soon regret its slipping away. A noisy household can be unbearable until it’s empty-nester time.
