An Open Letter To The Most Rev. Bishop Schneider… Did Vatican II Implicitly Justify “Pachamama” Idolatry?

December 19, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on An Open Letter To The Most Rev. Bishop Schneider… Did Vatican II Implicitly Justify “Pachamama” Idolatry?

By FR. BRIAN W. HARRISON, OS You may not remember me now, but I had the pleasure and privilege of meeting you and chatting with you at dinner at the conference in Monterey, Calif., in February 2018, hosted by The Latin Mass magazine. Your Excellency and I were both speakers at the conference. Along with innumerable members of the Catholic clergy and faithful, I am deeply grateful for, and appreciative of, the courageous leadership you have been showing at a time when the vast majority of Successors of the Apostles are remaining deplorably silent about the confused and chaotic state of the Church today, which grows daily more critical during the present pontificate. However, I confess to being troubled,…Continue Reading

Some Thoughts On Catholics And The 2020 Elections

December 18, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on Some Thoughts On Catholics And The 2020 Elections

By REY FLORES The year 2019 is almost over and the 2020 elections are just around the corner. It always seems that the elections are far off, but the primaries are only a few months away, and then November 2020 will be here in less than a year. It’s enjoyable to watch the number of passengers decrease in the Democratic presidential candidates’ clown car, as a few have already dropped out, realizing that they have a long road ahead of them if they even have a chance at actually defeating President Trump. Democrats have been operating a three-ring circus since Donald Trump was duly elected by the American people in 2016. In the first ring, there was the Russian collusion,…Continue Reading

Catholic And Apostolic

December 17, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on Catholic And Apostolic

By JOE SIXPACK Last week, we made it halfway through the four marks of the Catholic Church — the marks given to demonstrate her Founder is Jesus Christ, God Himself. Today we’ll finish with the marks we call catholic and apostolic. “Catholic” is a word meaning “universal.” That is, the Church is for all men of all times in all places. Because our Church alone is universal in time, doctrine, and extent, she has existed in perfect continuity from the time of Christ and will last until His Second Coming. She teaches all His Gospel, and administers all His divine means of salvation. She’s not confined to any particular region or nation, but is widespread among all the nations of…Continue Reading

The Tenure Of Office Act And High Crimes

December 16, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on The Tenure Of Office Act And High Crimes

By DEACON MIKE MANNO, JD Well, it seems like the Impeachment Train has left the station with all the Democrats on board and Engineer Nancy Pelosi has opened the throttle, so its full-speed ahead until arrival at the Senate. Over the past couple of months, we’ve heard a lot of testimony about the failures and foibles of President Trump and why this statement or that action constitutes an impeachable act. The partisans have lined up, Democrats on the Impeachment Express while the Republicans can’t seem to slow the train down. So now it looks like the Senate will have to make the call. For a historical perspective most commentators and the public — those who are paying attention — are…Continue Reading

Three Virtues Of The Heart

December 15, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on Three Virtues Of The Heart

By DONALD DeMARCO “Have a heart” is a popular idiom: “I am sorry for what I said, please have a heart and forgive me.” It does, however, raise an interesting question: “Is it possible for a person not to possess this vital organ?” Can a person truly be heartless, if only for a moment? The heart is at the very core of our personality. This statement may appear redundant since the word “core” is derived from the Latin cor, which refers to the heart. At any rate, the heart is an essential and indelible part of us. We cannot rid ourselves entirely of our heart. What we mean when we implore a person to “have a heart” is to get…Continue Reading

Population Control’s Victims Demand Justice

December 14, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on Population Control’s Victims Demand Justice

By CHRISTOPHER MANION “The first time nurses visited Gloria Basilio,” The Los Angeles Times reported in October, “she told them she wasn’t interested in sterilization surgery. She already had three children but wanted more. “The nurses kept returning to her home in the remote Peruvian countryside. They told her the president himself had ordered the procedure for women with large families — women who they said ‘reproduced like rabbits’.” (Before we continue, it comes to mind: “Like rabbits….” Doesn’t that phrase sound familiar?) Back to the L.A. Times: “With her husband away, Basilio finally conceded. “She changed her mind in the operating room the next day, but nurses tied her arms and legs to a bed and blindfolded her. “Basilio…Continue Reading

Goodbye For Now To A Catholic Hero

December 13, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on Goodbye For Now To A Catholic Hero

By JOSEPH MATT My dad to me was always larger than life. For a lot of kids in my day, our dads were heroes — they could do no wrong. Well, my dad was my hero. Sure, he was at all my ballgames, major events, he could beat up your dad, he was smarter than your dad, just like any good dad, but there was something bigger about him. He always had a certain confidence about him that I learned to admire, especially as I grew older. It was later in life that I soon realized it was the practice of the Catholic faith that gave him his aura of certainty and confidence. It was this gift from God, which…Continue Reading

Is Africa Being Colonized Again?

December 11, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on Is Africa Being Colonized Again?

By CHRISTOPHER MANION In Target Africa (Ignatius Press), Obianuju Ekeocha vividly describes the twenty-first century’s version of ideological colonialism. These new, rabid colonialists never give up, and last month some ten thousand of them gathered in Nairobi, Kenya. The stated occasion was the commemoration of the 25th anniversary of the International Conference on Population and Development (ICPD), held in Cairo in 1994. The real reason was their fear that their crusade to wipe out the next generation of Africans was losing steam. And they were mad, very mad. The 1994 conference, held under the auspices of the United Nations, featured pro-abortion forces (including the Clinton administration) arrayed against a coalition of pro-life Third World countries. A delegation representing the Holy See…Continue Reading

The Church Is Holy

December 10, 2019 Frontpage Comments Off on The Church Is Holy

By JOE SIXPACK Last week, we began looking at the four marks of the Church; that is, that she is one. Today we’ll continue with the second mark, which says that the Church is holy. Before we do, however, we need to define the origin of the Church a little more deeply. Have you ever wondered why the Catholic Church refers to herself as the Mystical Body of Christ? It comes from Sacred Scripture. St. Paul refers to the Church as the Body of Christ repeatedly (cf. 1 Cor. 12:12), but in order to understand why he does so, as well as its significance, we need to focus on Paul’s conversion (Acts 9:1-6). St. Paul, who prior to his conversion…Continue Reading
