American Revolution 2.0… How We Will Win
By REY FLORES
“A house divided against itself cannot stand” — Abraham Lincoln, June 16, 1858.
In last week’s Wanderer (p. 7B), I addressed the problems we are facing today because of a decades-long campaign against all that is good, which has finally come to an ugly head.
Like the proverbial frog in a pot of water, the enemies of God, worldly and other-worldly, have come after everything that we know to be free, holy, and sacrosanct. They have been turning up the heat little by little and now we realize that we are in some seriously hot water.
Our freedoms are being quickly eroded by the very government that was instituted by the founding fathers of our nation to do the exact opposite.
We hear a lot of complaints about old white men who are allegedly out-of-touch with mainstream America, but we’ve been seeing some changes with younger men of many diverse backgrounds contributing to our cause as well. We have black, Hispanic, and white conservatives who have made an impact on the American body politic, but we still need more conservative women who are not just RINOs or middle-of-the road moderates, but hardcore conservative women to help bolster our power as American conservatives.
Be part of the political future of our nation. Join your local Republican Party. Of course, register to vote and then vote, but encourage others to do so as well. Run for your local school board, city council — just get informed and most importantly get involved.
Solution number two is to allow our citizenry to be armed. I grew up in Chicago where the only people with guns were the cops and the criminals — sometimes one and the same! While my dad always owned a pistol, he always kept it under lock and key, and I have never known him to actually use it, thank God. But it was there if we needed it.
It wasn’t until I lived in Virginia that I met a bunch of good, responsible gun owners. I also got to meet many NRA members who taught me about the importance of owning a firearm as a freedom-loving American.
Currently as an employee of a business that sells firearms and ammunition, I’ve met many more responsible gun owners of all persuasions, ages, races, and gender. Given the current political climate, gun and ammunition sales have been soaring.
If you do not already own a firearm for home safety and protection, I suggest you obtain the necessary permits and conceal and carry credentials, take some shooting classes, and become a member of the NRA.
The third solution is to take care of your health, mind and body. Eat well, exercise, avoid junk food at all costs. If you drink alcohol, drink in moderation because the slippery slope of alcoholism has increased in the past year due in part to all of this draconian government overreach.
Because of all the quarantining, isolation, and social distancing, alcohol and drug abuse has increased. People are becoming lonelier and more depressed. Suicide rates have also increased at alarming rates.
So this third lesson here is quite simple. Quit your bad habits. That means taking care of not only your body, but also of your mental health. Turn off the television and quit binge-watching stupid television show that do nothing for your mental or emotional well-being. Besides, most of what Americans are watching comes out of that cesspool known as Hollywood, where there’s mostly demonic sex and violence being spoon-fed to willing audiences. As they say: “Garbage in, garbage out.”
Also, get off the computer and other tech gadgets like your tablets and smartphones. Avoid social media as much as possible. After all, it is censored and run by leftist tech giants who hate conservative views, especially if they have anything to do with God and faith.
Read a book, learn a new healthy hobby, do gardening, volunteer at your local crisis pregnancy center, do sidewalk counseling at the local abortion mills, or even help at the local food pantries and soup kitchens.
Spend quality time with your families, your spouse, your children, and extended families and friends. We are social creatures and we enjoy being with other people — but be careful with whom you keep company. Just because you aren’t physically alone doesn’t mean that the company you keep is good for you.
The final foolproof plan and lesson I can share with you, however, is this. Stay close to God. Pray like there’s no tomorrow because there just may not be a tomorrow for any of us. We never know the day or the hour.
Be saintly. Strive to be the person God made us to be. Avoid the near occasions of sin, and sin itself. If there is one thing even more valuable than our bodies, and our overall health mentally and emotionally it is this: our eternal souls.
Attend Holy Mass as much as possible now that churches are open to the public again. Bring others to Jesus. Spend time with our Lord in adoration. Pray your daily rosaries, with your families if possible.
If we do all that the Holy Spirit has brought to us, we will win our nation back. With God all things are possible. I know this because I have seen miracles in my own life. Despite much suffering, I am grateful for the blessings God has bestowed on me. Gratitude is everything. Godspeed.
