Biden And Bishops Support Ukraine, Betray Americans
By CHRISTOPHER MANION
Last Friday, Joe Biden told U.S. troops stationed in Poland that they would soon be in Ukraine. “You’re going to see when you’re there, and some of you have been there, you’re gonna see — you’re gonna see women, young people standing in the middle in front of a damned tank just saying, ‘I’m not leaving, I’m holding my ground’,” Biden told them.
His remarks brought quick “clarifications” from White House staff. “The president has been clear we are not sending U.S. troops to Ukraine and there is no change in that position,” a staffer explained.
Last Monday, Biden tried to clarify his remarks once more. “I was talking to the troops. We were talking about helping train the troops in — that are — the Ukrainian troops that are in Poland,” he told Fox News.
On Monday evening, Sen. Ted Cruz said out loud what many Americans were thinking.
“Every time he explains one thing, it gets worse and worse and worse, and we’ve got nuclear weapons pointed at each other. It is incredibly dangerous, this kind of presidential weakness.”
Faced with his frequent factual confusion, Biden often dissembles. Perhaps he was merely trying to impress the members of the 82nd Airborne with a display of his resolve as their Commander-in-Chief. Having seen the swell of American emotion in support of the people of Ukraine, he seized on the old-fashioned virtue of the American patriot: waving the flag. Unfortunately, it was the flag of Ukraine, which he must have found more inspiring to the American troops than an invocation of the American spirit.
Meanwhile,
On the Home Front
On March 25, Gen. Glen VanHerck testified before the Senate Committee on Armed Services. VanHerck, commander of the United States Northern Command, told the committee that the foreign military intelligence agency of the Russian Federation, known by its abbreviation GRU, currently has more intelligence officials deployed in Mexico than in any other country in the world, with the final goal of influencing the decisions taken by the United States. He added that the Kremlin is seeking to access the U.S. from the neighboring country.
“My concern with that is the instability it creates, the opportunity it creates for actors like China, Russia, and others who might have nefarious activities in mind to seek access and influence in our area,” he said.
Big news? Absolutely. It’s “Russia!!!”
But silence about the border is even more important to the Bidenized media, so unfortunately, Americans have to go to the foreign media to hear VanHerck’s report at all.
While Joe Biden stalwartly defends the borders of Ukraine, his administration ignores his Four-Star General’s warning. He is now fighting to remove the Trump-era “Remain in Mexico” program, designed to keep unidentified illegal aliens from infiltrating into our country.
As a result, the Department of Homeland Security expects some 25,000 illegals to conduct a mass border-crossing event this month (observers on the ground predict a number closer to 100,000).
Will there be Russian spies among them? We’ll never know.
“America Last” In Action
Wouldn’t it be inspiring if Joe Biden went to southern Texas and addressed U.S. border guards and members of the Texas National Guard on their way to protect our southern border? There he could wave Old Glory, and project his determination to protect that border — the one that his oath of office demands that he preserve, honor, and protect — with the same zeal that he embraces the challenge of protecting the borders of Ukraine.
He might tell the beleaguered Texas Guardsmen and members of the U.S. Border Patrol about the valiant Americans whose country they are protecting. “You’re going to see when you’re there — you’re gonna see Americans, women, young people standing behind you to defend their homes and families. They’ll be standing in the middle in front of a damned Catholic Charities bus carrying illegal aliens, drug and sex traffickers, and an occasional terrorist or Russian spy, just saying, ‘I’m not leaving, I’m holding my ground,’ you aren’t going any further’.”
But he won’t.
And our bishops?
Consider San Antonio Archbishop Gustavo Garcia-Soler, a strong promoter of immigration. Perhaps he could challenge Catholic Joe: “Mr. Biden, stop this massacre. Children are killed, young people are harmed deeply, or dead. Families are mutilated in many ways; children and wives separated from their husbands. Societies and cultures are destroyed. Please, stop, stop, stop. Face God and convert. Please God!”
All of Archbishop Garcia-Soler’s particulars are true of the victims of the Coyote sex-and-drug traffickers. Their human trafficking networks stretch from Russia and Ukraine to the Middle East and Africa and throughout Latin America into the United States and Canada. In the past fifteen months they have brought over two million prospective illegal aliens to the U.S.-Mexican border, charging each of them around $5,000 in cash.
Yes, that’s a lot. In fact, it adds up to some ten billion dollars. Some of those Coyotes are as rich as those Russian oligarchs that Catholic Joe so bravely confronts with his sanctions.
Archbishop Garcia-Soler, born and raised in Mexico, knows the corruption and suffering caused by the Coyotes better than most Americans do. Every Mexican has to live with it every single day.
The drugs that Coyotes bring into the U.S. every year kill over 100,000 Americans every years — thousands more than all the victims of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
Why doesn’t the archbishop demand to Joe Biden’s face that he defend his flock, and all Americans, from the ravenous Coyote wolves?
Why? Well, the Coyotes are the silent partners of the USCCB’s secular NGOs that are secretly transporting unvetted illegal aliens from our southern border to communities all over the country. And our bishops need the Coyotes to supply their nonprofits with “clients” so they can continue to receive millions in taxpayer funding from the federal government.
So Archbishop Garcia-Soler will not address those strong and heartfelt comments about suffering children and families torn apart to Joe Biden.
Celibacy And Risk, Explained
As we have learned to our chagrin, Archbishop Garcia-Soler and his brother bishops simply cannot confront “Catholic Joe” Biden on abortion, on the Coyotes, on Canon 915 — on anything.
A longtime pastor recently explained to me his view of this dispiriting silence of our shepherds. Surprisingly, he focused on the virtue of celibacy.
The gift of celibacy, he said, allows the priest to take risks.
In the days of “woke” and the “cancel culture,” many laymen realize that they could lose their job, their home, or even their freedom simply by saying or doing the right thing.
As we’ve learned from the China Virus, fear is a powerful motivator indeed to avoid taking any risks.
But celibate priests, he said, have nothing to lose.
As a good priest, if you do the right thing and offend the wrong people, your bishop might discipline you. But so what? Your promise of obedience requires you to do whatever he tells you, as long as it is not immoral.
If you were right and he was wrong, that’s his problem. “When I meet Jesus, I’ll tell Him I obeyed my bishop. When my bishop meets Jesus, he’ll have to explain that his command was made in good faith, on prudential and charitable grounds. If it wasn’t, that’s his problem, not mine.”
That freedom comes easy for priests, he said, but not for bishops. Bishops have budgets, they have bureaucracies, they have lawyers and lobbyists. They need money, including government money, in order to keep the diocese well-oiled and running smoothly.
Should such a bishop confront Catholic Joe Biden, he might lose all that funding.
How can he afford to take that risk?
He can’t.
So he won’t.
