Chilean Native On Pandemic . . . “I Pray We All Take Life And Eternity More Seriously Now”

April 8, 2020 Frontpage No Comments

By DEXTER DUGGAN

PHOENIX — Luz Fuenzalida is a Chilean native who became a U.S. citizen and is a veteran pro-life activist. She witnesses for life by trying to persuade pregnant mothers going into abortion clinics to change their minds and bring God back into their lives. An interview in the March 17, 2016, hard copy issue of The Wanderer presented her work doing this. (Page 3A, “Latina pro-lifer tells how to save moms and babies from abortion.”)
Fuenzalida also has been concerned about the general decline in morality, and how illegal immigration hurts the law-evading families. Following is an edited March 30 Q-and-A interview with Fuenzalida on how she sees life now.
Q. What reaction do you see among various people because of the pandemic?
A. I see hoarding of material goods. First and foremost toilet paper, then food and cleaning supplies. I see an increase of anger (instant angry reactions everywhere, also an increase of angry drivers in the streets), pride, growth of vanity in both men and women. We see more provocative, scanty, lust-filled dressing than ever before.
I have also heard some serious economic concerns and a due increase of both awareness and fear of health contamination. Yes, I have seen and heard people seriously concerned about not having access to the Holy Eucharist and Confession during this pandemic.
Q. Do you think they take life more seriously now?
A. Yes. I pray there will be a significant difference in all of our lives. Many of us have taken for granted Mass, adoration, the easy access to Confession, etc. Plus, hopefully now, we will see that abortion is not a right, but a diabolical service that has nothing to do with health care. It is all about murdering defenseless, innocent babies for profit!
May we also see that transgenderism is nothing more than spiritual/emotional confusion, being pushed and shoved by pseudo-doctors that make money out of unnecessary surgeries and expensive pharmaceutical meds! DNA remains unchanged; God did not make a mistake, after all.
Now, after all they have gone through, after spending all sorts of money and having had no spiritual or emotional help, they feel worse and now they attempt suicide. These people need our love and prayers! It leads to spiritual death.
I hope and pray we will all take this life and our eternity more seriously now!
Q. Do you have an opinion why the pandemic is occurring now? Recall that Jesus said the people killed by the fall of the Tower of Siloam were not more guilty than others in Jerusalem.
A. I do. My personal opinion is, God is calling us to repentance!
Many people, but specially Hispanics, are unaware that the Democratic Party has a pro-death platform. They are endorsing everything evil. It is all about “me-me,” which has opened doors to infanticide, euthanasia, sodomy, fornication, adultery, porno, drag queens, even persecution for not using the “preferred pronouns.”
Over 60 million dismembered babies in this country alone is not enough — we are not counting those killed by abortifacients. We seem to have a preoccupation with having fun and pleasure here and now — at any cost, while neglecting our eternal life.
In reference to the fall of the Tower of Siloam — yes, we are all sinners, we can be guilty of omission and/or commission. We can partake in the sin of abortion by having the abortion, paying for it, by giving the mother a ride to the abortion chamber, or just doing nothing to stop it, while the government is using my taxes to fund these murders.
We also have to expiate public and national sin because we live in community.
Q. You mention some of your own relatives not taking morality seriously. Are they acting or talking differently since the pandemic arrived? Because they had a Catholic upbringing, why has that not guided their lives now? Because life seems too easy, and sins encouraged by left-wing media?
A. Too many of my loved ones have been or are away from the Church. As usual, we parents blame ourselves first. After all, we raised them. But, in reality, there is a lot more to this problem that we neglect to consider, e.g., the girlfriends/boyfriends in their lives, others they meet in later years, perhaps as adults, at work, etc.
Who are these pseudo friends/people? What was their upbringing like? What are they into? How about society’s influence, or how about the media’s misinformation/lies? Fake news, politicians’ distortions of facts — e.g., the pseudo Catholics’ confusion coming from people like Joe Biden, Nancy Pelosi, et al. All these seem to have a domino effect on our family members, and frequently on our faith.
All we can do is intercede for our loved ones and ask for prayers, offer Masses, that all fallen-way Catholics will return to partake in the sacraments and ask God for the necessary graces to return Home.
Q. What do you think of churches being closed now and the Eucharist often unavailable? Would this not be the time when people need such grace more?
A. My very first instinct is to say or even scream, “Yes, we need the spiritual antidote to this pandemic!” We need Mass, the sacraments, priests more than ever. But, I/we are called to be humble, to pray and fast, to sacrifice, not to question Peter’s Authority, my bishop’s advice, etc. I do not know what they know.
I do firmly believe the Holy Spirit abides in His Church — because He said so! I pray for our Holy Father, priests, and nuns more than ever before.
May I add that, having had my parents live under atheistic Communism during the Allende rule in Chile, having watched all our priests being deported and/or “vanishing,” you learn fast: No priests equals no Mass, no sacraments — all was gone, nothing was left, except the grace of God giving us the will to pray! One learns fast to appreciate, respect, and pray for our Church.
This attack on our Catholic Church was the ultimate devastation. Having a Communist dress up as a priest, pull out of the tabernacle a gun and say to all the young people, including my brother, watching, “This is our savior, our salvation.” By the way, these pseudo priests were trained and knew the Mass inside out.
Q. How is the pandemic affecting illegal immigration? News reports say that Mexico does not want U.S. people coming down there now. Ironic reaction? What about illegal immigrants still coming here?
A. Well, interesting enough, it appears that, suddenly, borders are good after all and they need to be respected. All countries and even states want and now demand respect for their borders. A border is social distancing.
I worked for INS (immigration) years ago. We had to go through a deportation hearing for a busload of illegals. These hearings were being held in large trailers near Florence, Ariz. Lots of cost for court reporters, judges, interpreters, etc. The results were a total waste of time and money. Mostly men being deported but smiling and saying, “Good-bye, I’ll see you next week!”
Profiling is to me the best, least expensive, and safest solution. Just as they do in Europe, Mexico, and everywhere else. Either you have your documents or you don’t. Either you continue where you are going or you go to jail and pay what you owe.
Q. Do you think illegal immigrants have brought or are bringing disease(s) to the U.S.?
A. Yes, diseases, and/or a lot more. Drug dealers bring drugs, terrorists bring their destructive agenda, others have smuggled children for sex-trafficking, illegal voters, etc. The point is, only criminals break just laws.
Q. Please mention how government support in the U.S. encourages illegal aliens to stay here, and even to forget their families back home.
A. Any free monetary support, food stamps, housing, health care provided to Illegals only encourage breaking just immigration laws, abandoning their families and, possibly soon after, even their faith. They send pictures to relatives and friends of what they are receiving here, encouraging others to come here.
Once here, these fathers frequently “shack up” with a younger woman and start a new family, soon forgetting and abandoning the real family they left behind. Here they soon abandon their faith to join what I call a “happy” church, where you are all “saved” and can live in adultery with no problem — because you are already “saved.”
FYI — There are no freebies in Mexico for illegals. You get fined and deported right away.
As for remembering there is no free health care there for non-citizens:
I was living in Durango, Mexico, for a few years. I got pregnant soon after arrival. I was now about two weeks from having my baby, when my doctor explained to me that it would be very costly for me to have my baby there, as they had socialized medicine for citizens only. He apologized for not realizing this earlier and suggested to get in the first plane back to the U.S. ASAP, as it was getting too close to my due date.
I was scared to death to fly alone with my other baby, who was not a year old yet. My husband was working there and had to stay there in Mexico. As I thought about it, I felt it was only fair, as we had never paid taxes in Mexico. My in-laws picked us up in Los Angeles and that night they took me to the hospital. My baby was two weeks early from all the excitement. I wanted an international family, but I was not able to have a child in Mexico.
Q. How and/or why do illegal immigrants think their lives will be better in the U.S. — after they break the law to enter? Why can they not improve their homelands instead? Because they fear something like the cartels?
A. Not exactly sure. Too many promises of fast, instant freebies: food stamps, housing, citizenship, health care, etc. Didn’t Mr. Obama bring in 57,000 children in buses and promised them and their parents citizenship?
Yes, some areas, from what I have heard, are not safe anymore. Plus, perhaps the more “uneducated”/”unskilled” people that they send out, the less their government needs to worry about them?
(Editor’s Note: On March 31 the Associated Press reported that Mexico was criticized for being late in taking tougher measures against the pandemic.
(“Some experts warn the sprawling country of 129 million is acting too late and testing too little to prevent the type of crisis unfolding across the border in the United States,” the AP said.)

Now more than ever, vehicles like The Wanderer are needed for clarification and guidance on the issues of the day.
