Consecrated Hosts Still Missing In Texas Tabernacle Theft
By CHRISTOPHER MANION
We reported last week the theft of a tabernacle from the altar of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church in Katy, Texas. Earlier this week, Katy Police Department Detective George Stewart informed The Wanderer that police had arrested Christian James Meritt, a Katy resident, on May 11, as a suspect in the theft.
The stolen tabernacle was discovered in the parking lot of a Burger King Restaurant in Katy, with signs of forced entry but no sign of the missing contents, which included a number of consecrated Hosts.
Police are following several leads, says Detective Stewart. Meanwhile, the Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston announced that Meritt has been charged with felony burglary of a building and felony possession of a controlled substance.
The theft was the most heinous so far in a string of hate crimes nationwide targeting Catholic churches and shrines, including at least three in Texas alone. Abortion advocates also targeted a number of crisis pregnancy centers, several in Maryland and Virginia near the District of Columbia.
Andy Ngo, known for his groundbreaking work exposing the Antifa terrorist network, reported a case of arson in Madison, Wis., conducted last week by Jane’s Revenge, a terrorist group that attacked Wisconsin Family Action’s office in the state’s capital last Sunday. LifeNews reports that Molotov cocktails were thrown into the building’s interior, where they exploded and caused significant damage. Madison police reported that the offices were unoccupied at the time, and no one was injured.
The attacks followed the unauthorized release of Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito’s draft opinion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization on May 2. Five days after the release, a group calling itself “Ruth Sent Us” threatened Catholics, especially Churches:
“Stuff your rosaries and your weaponized prayer. We will remain outraged after this weekend, so keep praying. We’ll be burning the Eucharist to show our disgust for the abuse Catholic Churches have condoned for centuries.”
The theft of the tabernacle from St. Bartholomew’s came just one day later, and has received remarkably scant coverage in the legacy media. We appreciate the Katy Police Department’s aggressive investigation, but we wonder, where is the Biden administration? Where are Attorney General Garland’s terrorist hunters? Are they too busy tracking “white-supremacist” suburban moms who speak up at local school board meetings?
“Ruth Sent Us” has continued its agitation, encouraging demonstrations in front of the homes of the justices associated with Alito’s opinion, as well as in metropolitan areas throughout the country. “The times require persistent outrage,” the group tweeted on Wednesday, and its Twitter “feed” constantly foments it.
Messages left on Wisconsin Family Action’s office voicemail indicate that the outrage is thriving. “I hope you all burn with it…that’s what you deserve,” one caller said. “Whoever set that fire is a true American patriot,” said another, “you people are just utter filth of the planet, and it’s too bad your whore mothers didn’t abort each and every last one of you. Hopefully you all get cancer…for the betterment of all humanity.”
Another caller was more succinct: “Burn, little Jesus freaks, burn, burn, burn!”
Pay The Price
The demand for pro-abortion violence resonates the threat leveled by Senate Democrat Leader Chuck Schumer on March 4, 2020: “I want to tell you Neil Gorsuch, and you Brett Kavanaugh,” Schumer shouted in front of the Supreme Court at a pro-abortion demonstration there. “You have unleashed a whirlwind, and you will pay the price,” he continued, referring to the abortion cases being considered by the Court.
“You won’t know what hit you, if you go forward with these awful decisions,” he threatened.
Schumer received no pushback from the White House or the Justice Department for his remarks. The media’s Usual Suspects ignored them as well.
Given the bleak outlook for their party and the country, beleaguered Democrats are seizing on the abortion issue as their last chance to avoid annihilation in the November elections. They are sinking in the polls as evidence of the damage from their copious disasters continues to mount.
The way Democrats see it, the country’s wave of emotional support for Ukraine will fade — as emotion always does. But abortion is the Left’s Prime Mandate, and the indelible foundation of their power lust. As recent history has shown, the abortion issue and the Culture of Death on which it rides has remarkable staying power.
Democrats have seen the success of their summer of violence following the death of George Floyd two years ago. Thousands of crimes, including murder, ruined lives, and billions of dollars of damage went unpunished.
Given the damning lack of response to the anti-Catholic terrorism perpetrated by abortion fanatics this month, Democrats are confident that continuing violence can only work in their favor.
In that vein, Axios cites an unsettling bulletin from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Office of Intelligence and Analysis. “Grievances related to restricting abortion access could fuel violence by pro-choice abortion-related violent extremists and other domestic violent extremists,” it reads. “Law enforcement agencies are investigating social-media threats to burn down or storm the Supreme Court building and murder justices and their clerks, as well as attacks targeting places of worship.”
As Chuck Schumer put it, “You won’t know what hit you.”
Correlation, Contradiction, And Collapse
As the Left rallies the troops to persistent outrage, Planned Parenthood has detected a dialectical stumbling block that must be addressed as the revolution progresses. “We need to go beyond choice language when we’re talking about abortion,” the group wrote recently — and apparently that includes changing the name of the “Pro-Choice” movement itself.
“The language of ‘choice’ centers on one person’s decision to get an abortion or not; a choice is something one person makes,” their website explains. “Focusing on someone’s ‘choice’ erases the structural, societal factors that determine how and if someone can get health care, and the quality of that care. These factors are not incidental or insignificant: They leave many people with no choices at all.”
Hmmmm — “structural, societal factors.” Somehow that rings a bell.
Ah yes, here it is:
In 1979, America’s Catholic bishops taught in their Pastoral on Racism that “structures of our society are subtly racist” — so subtle, in fact, that we don’t even know we’re sinning. “No single individual is to blame,” they continued — after all, we have no choice.
Curious how both Planned Parenthood and our social justice bishops reject free will when it comes to their respective Prime Mandates — abortion for Planned Parenthood, and racism for the bishops.
Planned Parenthood employs the Marxist dialectic to make “birthing persons” the pawns of “structural, societal factors.” That dominion not only denies individual freedom, but also prohibits the very possibility of “choice.” Class consciousness rules; do not dare to mention liberty — that notion is a construct created by our oppressors!
Regrettably, America’s bishops agree. They have never corrected that massive 1979 Marxist calumny, much less apologized for it.
In fact, they have often repeated it.
“Racism has rightly been called America’s original sin” said Bishop George Murry of Youngstown, Ohio, when he was chosen to chair the USCCB’s ad hoc Committee Against Racism in 2017.
One does not choose to be a racist — he can’t. For the USCCB, America’s white majority is racist by definition. It’s our class consciousness. We’re stuck with it.
So Planned Parenthood and the USCCB — two American institutions that pretend to be opposing forces in the debate on human life — actually agree on the fundamental issue that is at stake:
Free will doesn’t exist.
This confluence of consciousness represents one of the most stunning feats of dialectical conquest in our nation’s history. We lost . . . and nobody seems to notice.
