Miss America, Mickey Mouse, The NFL, And More Madness
By REY FLORES
A couple of weeks ago, Miss America pageant officials announced that the swimsuit portion of the pageant would be scrapped entirely. Political correctness, particularly the #MeToo movement, has infected and officially killed another traditional American institution.
Is it a case of modesty, or of politically correct madness?
Let me be clear. I agree wholeheartedly that a woman’s body should be respected as much as her entire being, but when a beauty pageant is no longer about beauty, then it should simply cease to exist.
Instead, the “competition,” as it will be known from here on, has become yet another stage for fake feminism, liberal political tripe, and another lame attempt at erasing the natural attraction of the opposites.
As much as they’ll cry “girl power,” I bet they’ll still largely be behind Planned Parenthood and the femicide of unborn women.
In my opinion, beauty pageants, the annual Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue, and other forms of entertainment which focus simply on a woman’s body have become nothing other than soft porn. A gateway to impure thoughts, hardcore porn, and at worst, sinful and destructive behaviors.
And Walt Disney’s “Magic Kingdom” has gone from crazy to just plain evil. Magic Kingdom? No thanks. I’ll strive and fight for the Kingdom of God instead.
In “honor” of June being supposedly gay “pride” month, Disney has been selling their iconic Mickey Mouse ear hats with a new twist. The new hats now feature rainbow-colored mouse ears, and a pair of Mickey Mouse gloved hands making a heart shape featuring a rainbow colored heart.
Oh, Steamboat Willie, where art thou now? Another iconic American institution gone to the infernal regions.
One thing for sure is that even though some bureaucratic leaders and wayward clergy within the Catholic Church have been showing troubling support for the abomination known as “same-sex marriage,” down at the White House, President Trump has refused to declare June officially as Gay Pride Month.
Very much unlike his predecessor — you know, the guy who lit up the White House in rainbow colors — President Trump is not bowing down to the homosexual bullies who insist that the entire planet accept their chosen sin and lifestyle.
Also comes the wonderful news that the Supreme Court of the United States ruled in favor of the Colorado Christian baker who refused to make a wedding cake for two homosexuals a few years back. This is certainly a breath of pure and fresh air! This should set a precedent for religious freedom for Christians of all stripes. Why should we violate our faith for modernist secular tyrants who think they can play the victim card anytime someone refuses to condone their sin?
Another step toward the right direction was the announcement by the National Football League mandating that all of their employees, particularly the petulant and obnoxious football players, stand during the pregame playing of the National Anthem.
The overpaid, willfully ignorant crybaby football players, however, were given the option to stay in their respective locker rooms during this traditional ceremony. This is exactly like sending a stubborn little brat to his time-out chair in his room for not wanting to eat his broccoli at the dinner table.
Who do these players think they are? While they live like kings on their multimillion-dollar salaries, win or lose, they still have the nerve to talk trash about our country, the greatest nation in the world which has afforded them all of their opportunities and success.
Why don’t they use some of their millions of dollars and take every homeless military veteran off the streets of America? Where are they during the off-season? While some do actually commit time and treasure to worthwhile causes, many of the players, particularly the boorish, disrespectful ones who “take a knee” during the National Anthem, are getting arrested in Miami in their pricey sports cars after a night of debauchery. That and becoming “baby-daddies” to who knows how many women they prey upon.
While the Miss America thing bothers me, in a way I see it as a positive in the sense that men are being held accountable a bit more in the public eye. Lord knows how quickly the world went to hell after the late Hugh Hefner brought pornography out of the seedy adult movie houses and into the mainstream.
On the other hand, the Walt Disney brand has been permanently tainted. The company has been a sad example of corporate moral deterioration for years now, and it looks like they aren’t finished quite yet.
The Miss America pageant, Disney, the Boy Scouts of America, and other well-known entities and institutions like them have now become stains on the pages of history.
I guess now is the time to really buckle down, look within ourselves and our own families, and choose to spend more time away from any of these distractions. More family time, more time in prayer, more time helping others and being a friend — these are the things that really matter.
The edification of our souls is near-impossible with distractions like these. Let there be loud and clear messages that we need more of God and less of this world.
