Roe Is Reversed But The Battle Continues

July 21, 2022 Frontpage No Comments

By THOMAS TAKASH

June 24, 2022 was a day all pro-lifers have prayed for since January 22, 1973. It was a day that five courageous judges decided that the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision was a contrived bit of magic, finding a “right to privacy” in our Constitution that never existed. One that could justify a right to kill one’s own unborn child. It had no basis in fact whatsoever.
Threats of extreme violence had erupted weeks before the actual decision was officially released, due to a leaked draft copy of the reversal. The hope was that these same five could be intimidated into backing down, but instead they rejected the fabricated “right” that had been imaginatively found within the Fourteenth Amendment.
After 49 plus years the current Supreme Court put a magnifying glass to that amendment (which had been passed solely to give blacks equal rights) and concluded that there was no privacy right intended anywhere in it.
The rabbit that the Court had pulled out of its hat had been a myth. Still many pro-abortionists screamed that the 1973 decision should stand, if for no other reason than it was a longstanding precedent. It was a wrong decision in 1973, and it would have been a wrong one again in 2022. The old adage: “Two wrongs don’t make a right” certainly applied here. Evil cannot become good just because it has been around for a long time! That makes sense, only if one desires the victory of evil.
Now that it has happened, the demise of Roe v. Wade seems almost surreal. The pro-death zealots had the complete backing of the Biden administration, the Democrat Party, and the pro-abortion giants (i.e., Planned Parenthood and NARAL Pro-Choice America) and appeared to be invincible. Combine that with almost limitless funds and constant propaganda supplied by the media, the entertain world, and the Silicon Valley elite and their evil armada should not have been defeated. The odds were in their favor. Just as in January of 1973, the abortion monster Goliath certainly had to be victorious once again, sending David running for cover, but when the smoke cleared and with the fanatical abortion crowd becoming even more angry, those five Supreme Court justices held firm and Goliath fell to the ground, seriously wounded. Unfortunately, it still breathes.
Some think that the pro-life movement can now rest on its laurels. The fact is, however, that the thirst for the blood of the innocents will not be quenched. The cries of the murderers are louder than ever before. Suddenly many of their cash-producing death shops may be locked shut and that is just unacceptable to them. They’re already running to state courts trying to find loopholes that could allow them to continue the killing and, at least for the immediate future, a few are finding friendly judges, who are issuing temporary judgments in their favor.
There is even talk of defying the Court’s reversal in states that have banned abortions, or that may soon ban them, by setting up “women’s health clinics” that will continue to carry out abortions with willing doctors or midwives, perhaps by disguising the real nature of the procedures.
We must not ignore the fact that some of our fellow Catholics do not understand the need to press on. Why not compromise and work out an acceptable middle ground? After all, the Court did take away the universal right to an abortion, and now each state can decide what if any regulations it will require regarding the right to kill one’s offspring. Maybe It’s time to offer an olive branch to the killers. Besides many of our neighbors are not pro-life, and it can be a problem at cocktail parties and backyard barbeques.

No Compromise With Satan

Such a surrender would undoubtedly calm the waters of those who have a distaste for this long and often uncomfortable friction between Catholics and some other pro-lifers and many of their neighbors. But compromise can never be made with Satan or his followers. Give them an inch, and they will destroy all of God’s children. The Roe reversal, while a great victory for the unborn, will not of itself, bring an end to this shameful murder of our defenseless babies. A major battle was won, but the war goes on.
Anticipating that many states will now prohibit abortions, or severely restrict them, not satisfied with legal maneuvers, underground groups such as “Jane’s Revenge” are engaging in acts of violence against pro-life centers and churches, and the threats of more violence are increasing with each day.
The question now is where is the protection that our federal government could and should provide to these centers and churches? As of this writing, no arrests have been made. Do we have to wait until pro-lifers are injured and killed before we see any real help from our government? These fanatical pro-abortion activists think nothing of killing innocent babies, why should we think that they will stop short of killing others?
When years ago, there was some very limited violence against abortionists and their killing factories by a few individuals (which the pro-life community never encouraged and in fact strongly condemned), the federal government did not hesitate to provide protection to abortionists and to their abortion mills and to assign many agents to apprehend the perpetuators.
Across the country, approximately 2,700 Pro-life Pregnancy Centers provide essential medical, educational, and financial support for mothers faced with difficult and/or unexpected pregnancies. In 2019 alone, they offered a helping hand to over two million moms at a cost of nearly 270 million! These centers are viewed as hated enemies by the fanatical pro-abortionists, so they’re now faced with daily threats and many are being forced to take some of their limited funds away from the women they want to help to provide for some security for their volunteers.
I know of one center where the director has spent recent weekends sleeping at their facility in order to be aware should an attack on it begin, and now they will begin paying an off-duty police officer to spend nights outside the premises to provide protection. Is it too much to ask our attorney general to assign federal agents to locate, track and arrest the dangerous criminal pro-abortionists who apparently are acting across state lines, thereby violating federal law?
With all these attacks on and threats against pro-life women’s clinics one has to wonder: “Where is the pro-choice in the minds of the co-called “pro-choice majority”? If they really believe in the right to choose, why are they intent on preventing or frightening women who want to choose life for their baby from seeking help from these centers? Why do the escorts outside abortion mills do all they can to prevent the women approaching the mills from talking to pro-life counselors who reach out to them? Why do they do all they can to prevent the women from viewing ultrasounds of their unborn babies? (Some pro-life clinics have mobile vans near the abortion mills with ultrasound equipment in them to give these women real information to help them with their decision.)
Talking to the counselors and/or viewing ultrasounds of their unborn babies enables the women to make an “intelligent choice” and that would not bode well for the death squads. Is it possible that some of them, having aborted one or more of their children, suffer so much from that choice, that they hate the thought of others choosing life for their children? Regardless of their motives, the pro-abortion fanatics actually hate real choice! The “right to choose” mantra that they have continually shouted is a lie.
Very recently a Catholic I know said he is tired of hearing about the abortion issue. I fear that many feel that way and that all the recent news about the demise of Roe may increase that feeling. Unfortunately, downplaying the issue or underestimating the strength of the Evil One would be a grave mistake. Abortion is just the first step. Once we accept that killing their unborn infants is generally regarded as a “moral right” of pregnant mothers, it is a short step downward to killing their unwanted young child.
Today we have “educated” teachers and professors who openly advocate for that right! Peter Singer, who holds the very important sounding position of “the Ira W. DeCamp Professor of Bioethics” at Princeton University and is allegedly a moral philosopher, openly supports the right of parents to kill their recently born children who suffer from severe physical or mental handicaps. Now there’s a guy that can provide inspiration for all of us!
If one fails to stand up for the 63 million already slaughtered unborn and for the millions more that will be murdered in the states in our country that will continue to worship at the altar of the Evil One, he or she should remember a stern warning in the New Testament and should ponder the frightening message contained in it: “…But because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will begin to vomit thee out of my mouth.” (Douay-Rheims Rev. 3-16).
It is almost inconceivable that anyone can look upon a baby who looks back at us expectingly with eyes that say: “Love me as I love you” and then turn away, closing our eyes. Yet it is done over and over again, each and every day. Is it even possible that the day will ever come when the world will accept children as the most precious gift that God has ever bestowed upon us? Perhaps, but it is also quite possible that the day will come when God will have had enough of the slaughter!

Last week, Kamala Harris became the first vice president in U.S. history to make a public visit to an abortion clinic.
