Should The Lord Reconsider His Words To Noah?
By TOM TAKASH
“Aborting one’s child, objectively speaking, may appear to some as a selfish and brutal act, but if all the facts are known, it may in fact be a selfless and kindly act of love.” That’s the line we’re regularly hearing from the left. Does that sound as Satanic to you, as it does to me? Well, either we’re right and that twisted view is from the world of darkness, and not the view of our fellow Americans, or (a scary thought) our nation has slowly slipped into the grip of the evil one and faith, hope, and charity are only meaningless words from a fairytale past that exists only in the minds of gullible and weak people blinded by their naiveté.
I know in Genesis that God promised never again to punish the world with another flood, but the way things are going, maybe He should reconsider that promise. Regrettably, there’s a heck of a lot of evidence that much of our country is in fact in the grips of His enemy. Since the repeal of Roe v. Wade this past June, a powerful and angry movement to abort more and more innocent babies has shown its ugly face. There’s a real commitment among the abortion giants to ferment a revolution, both through violence and using our quasi-legal government to revive and give strength back to their anti-life crusade.
Justices of the Supreme Court have been harassed and threatened. Petitions for impeachment of Clarence Thomas are being circulated because of his comments regarding contraception and same-sex marriage.
Aside from the threats against our Supreme Court Justices, there are attacks on churches and pro-life pregnancy centers, government pressure is being applied against pro-lifers, and we are spending hundreds of millions of dollars to increase the murder of our innocent unborn, here and abroad.
And, if anyone thinks I’m exaggerating, they just have to look at the plans of the governor of California. It’s hard to imagine a more diabolical attack than the one being fostered by that highly popular (at least in his mind) emperor of California, Gavin Newsom. This power-hungry politician, whose goal is to become president of the United States, obviously believes that if he can grab the leadership among those promoting the “beauty” of unlimited abortion in our failing nation, he will receive his crown.
In a disgusting publicity stunt to enhance his image among pro-death advocates, he has recently announced a campaign that will place pro-abortion billboards across seven pro-life states encouraging women to come to California for an abortion and at California’s expense.
Maybe he should add television ads with the theme song California Here We Come in the background. He could have pregnant girls lined up at an airplane gate, smiling and waving goodbye to their cheering spouses, or their boyfriends, or their casual sex partners or maybe to all three of them!
But not satisfied with encouraging women to rush to California to kill their children, in a deliberate affront to Christians everywhere, the rogue Irish Catholic Newsom attempts to justify the slaughter of our unborn by quoting (out of context) Sacred Scripture on some of the billboards.
After enticing women to head to California for abortions, those billboards include the latter portion of the greatest commandments found in Mark 12:31: which read, “Love your neighbor as yourself. There is no greater commandment than these.”
Really, Gavin? Do you want power that much? Is there anything that you won’t do to get ahead? Hasn’t it occurred to you that perhaps in 50 years or so, maybe even in the very near future, you’ll be just a footnote in a high school history book. You’ll be remembered as someone who once joyfully promoted the murdering of unborn babies to get votes! Do you really want that to be your legacy?
More importantly, do you want to stand before Jesus and try to explain why you twisted His words to try and support killing His children? You would be wise to remember that there will be no high-paid lawyer by your side trying for a not guilty verdict due to your insanity. Nor will you be able to take the Fifth Amendment. Your Jesuit education at Santa Clara won’t serve to mitigate your judgment either.
You’ll have to face Jesus, just as the rest of us will, that is, head bowed and acknowledging your sins. And, if I were you, I wouldn’t request a trial by jury. I doubt that He’ll grant one, but if surprisingly He does, I think the jury pool will consist of over 63,000,000 unborn children, who never had the chance to breathe life, as you have, and have never had the chance to serve their God and their families. Not good odds for an acquittal! Wouldn’t you agree?
There was a time in our nation when “the Newsoms and their ilk” were a vocal but somewhat unpopular minority that tried but had only minor successes in undermining the largely Judeo-Christian and family-oriented society here in America. Among us Catholics, the nuns, priests, and our lay teachers all were on the same page. The baby was real. It was not just a blob of tissue, or a potential child, and it was not just like a kidney or some other organ in its mom’s tummy. We weren’t deep into biology, but common sense confirmed what we were being taught. A pregnant Mom was not going to give birth to an onion. Somebody’s son, daughter, sister or brother was in there, and he or she would be joining the rest of us soon.
Things have changed since then. The attacks on our heritage increased with the successes of people like Madalyn Murray O’Hair, an atheist, who through lawsuits ended officially sanctioned mandatory Bible reading in public schools. The “Pill” became available and suddenly children were a burden that could be avoided, as could marriage!
Although Pope Paul VI, in spite of secular outrage, issued his 1968 encyclical Humanae Vitae, predicting conjugal infidelity and loss of respect for women as consequences of artificial birth control, his warning was largely ignored. Shamefully, many Catholic clergy publicly expressed disagreement and privately gave tacit approval to use of the pill in the confessional. And what if the pill failed, as it often did? Then what was one to do?
Well, we know what naturally came next! We soon entered the twenty-first century and apparently flexibility, understanding, non-judgmentalism, and love of neighbor (as defined by Newsom’s billboards) have turned grave sin into virtue. Many “Catholic” lay persons, politicians, and even some nuns, priests, and bishops seemed to have softened their view on what has become casually referred to as “terminating a pregnancy.”
Her Holiness Nancy Pelosi
Taking away peoples’ freedom by suggesting that they actually take responsibility for the result of their sexual flings has become an unjust assault on their lives, their plans, and their pocketbooks. Abortion, sorry, I mean terminating a pregnancy, is a God-given right, just ask that faithful Catholic, Nancy Pelosi.
The Eleventh Commandment issued from her holiness, the Speaker of the House, is: Thou shall not suggest that a poor woman try to complete her pregnancy.
At a “Roundtable on Women’s Reproductive Rights” in San Francisco (where else?) this past August, Pelosi invoked the holy word of justice, when she told us that it is “sinful” to tell a lower-income family what to do with their lives and with their bodies. Question: Madam Speaker, is it ok to tell a rich family what they can or cannot do with their bodies?
But getting back to the poor women, I guess we can conclude that if they don’t want the children, they can kill them. They’ll be better off, and so will their bank accounts, and let’s not forget their dead babies. I’m sure if they could talk, they would say, “Thanks, Mom, for killing us. You loved us so much. We didn’t want to be in the way.”
Equally important, if we accept Pelosi’s charge that pro-lifers commit sin when they try and prevent abortions among the poor, I’m sure that we’re not talking venial sin either. So, it logically follows that these cold-blooded pro-lifers, in good conscience, should refrain from receiving the Eucharist until they go to Confession, receive absolution, make a firm purpose of amendment and get on board with justice and the abortion express!
Actually, truth be known, the abortion advocates don’t really believe that poverty or wealth has anything to do with the right to kill one’s unborn child, nor are they really worried about an overcrowded world. All of that is just a smoke screen. It’s all about having fun without paying for it. Nowadays, the sex act is viewed as something that is there for the taking. Get what you can, while you can, and if things don’t go the way you want them to, get rid of the resulting problem.
“Hey, if I knew that a pregnancy was going to happen, I would have passed on the sex. But I didn’t know, so why do I have to live with the kid?”
Getting rid of the problem is only fair. It’s kind of like cancelling your subscription to a magazine that you didn’t bargain for when you enjoyed a no obligation copy. “Hey, I never agreed to a long-term deal. So, don’t bill me!” Unfortunately, we’re talking about a child, not a magazine.
In the old days, before sophisticated minds enlightened us, people held on to all sorts of outdated and prudish ideas. That was before we learned that our planet was in serious danger of flipping its orbit! “Holier than thou” nuns like Mother Teresa, when accepting a Nobel Prize in 1979, could chastise us by claiming that abortion, instead of helping control the population explosion, “is the greatest destroyer of peace.”
It’s a wonder that the Nobel Prize Committee didn’t take back her award for inserting questionable religious views into a real-world human issue. What was wrong with her? Hadn’t she ever heard of our Climate Change excuse? We all know better now, and thanks to science working to save Mother Earth, we can use that excuse as an added bonus for “fun in the sun,” or an “afternoon delight” at no extra charge. No unwanted consequences. Life’s too short to burden us with responsibilities.
The Miracle Of Creation
And if you still think that today’s youth show any signs of responsibility and caring for others, think again. Just look up one, David Hogg. He was a student at the Parkland mass shooting, and supposedly as a result of that terrible massacre, he’s a gun-control activist. Recently, he was removed from a House hearing on an assault weapon ban for shouting at a Republican congressman, interrupting him during his presentation.
Hogg masquerades as a bloodless martyr of Parkland. He claims, that our country values guns over children. Using that nonsensical and simplistic bit of logic, he tells us that because of our alleged affection for guns, he will not raise children in such an environment. He says that he will not “reproduce.”
A rather unusual way of saying that he will not have children. Sounds as if he views the Miracle of Creation as nothing more than operating a printer. Enter the number of copies, choose your preferred font and press go!
But he tips us off as to his real reasons for remaining childless, as he expands on his future plans. In turns out that children cost too much and interfere with his lifestyle. He leaves no doubt about his real motives when he says, “Yes, kids are nice but most people can’t afford them. . . . Pets are the affordable version of kids today for Millennials and Gen Z.” He goes on to say that he has other priorities. “Like me? I’m never planning on having kids. I would much rather own a Porsche.” Gee, David if we cut the price of sports cars and provide a free Nanny, could you consider maybe just one kid?
Wow! We might as well write off God and our country right now, and quit kidding ourselves. If David Hogg is representative of today’s youth, we’re through! And, if the hundreds of thousands of American soldiers and sailors who gave their lives for our country and for our children could hear Mr. Hogg’s comments, they might seriously wonder why they had to forfeit their lives to preserve this generation.
Mr. Hogg, with all his life experiences, gained through his 22 years on Earth, just doesn’t get it. He brags about his love of pets and sporty cars, and his disinterest in children. Pleasure seems to be his only goal. He doesn’t seem to consider that God should play a part in his daily life. He sounds like he imagines that his life will be complete when he gets all he can for himself.
His thinking is not far removed from the thoughts and actions of some of our political leaders, who have become famous and well-to-do in our nation’s capital. Among those leaders, I’m sorry to say, are many Catholics, who while proclaiming their faith and regularly receiving the Body and Blood of Our Lord, are also publicly promoting the killing of our innocent unborn.
Perhaps, as they receive the Eucharist in the future, they should seriously consider the words of Fr. Frank Pavone in his Pro-life Reflections for Every Day, when he says: “. . . communion means union. To desire union with Jesus is to desire union with life . . .”
