The Pro-Abortion Germ Eats Up The Democratic Party

April 19, 2020 Frontpage No Comments

By DEXTER DUGGAN

Survey the political scene of the COVID-19 pandemic and see leading national Democrats in the spotlight, all leftists, with their news appearances lauded and defended by dominant media and the Washington, D.C., carousel ridden by swamp critters.
If President Trump says the nation can’t remain closed for business or else it’s destroyed economically, because of millions thrown out of work, supply chains broken, and everyday enterprises threatened with extinction, he’s mocked by the usual dominant-media universality.
If national Democrats warn of economic ruin from the pandemic, they get pundit plaudits for their common sense.
Also, on April 13, Politico posted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi told her Democratic caucus that Trump’s handling of the pandemic outbreak was “almost sinful.”
Yes, the gravely bad Catholic Pelosi never seems to be far from talking of Republican “sins” while citing her own Catholic upbringing as proof of her goodness.
See the rabidly pro-abortion Catholic Dems who have risen to the top and hold the platform on pandemic oratory. Among them, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo, California Gov. Gavin Newsom, presumptive presidential nominee Joe Biden, and Pelosi.
They got this far thanks to, in part, weak, Democrat-inclined Catholic prelates who feared a headline mocking them in the dominant media more than they fear a God of Justice in the inevitable life to come.
These pols got this far this way and they don’t intend to go away, but only to scramble to capture the heights. To join their success team means loss for countless more babies’ lives.
Prelates temporizing and muting Catholic responsibility didn’t solve the problem, but only made it worse when politicians saw what they could get away with, then kept pushing further the boundaries.
All of this national crew favoring massive taxpayer-paid permissive abortion throughout pregnancy, perhaps even beyond. Cuomo lit up the New York skyline in January 2019 to gleefully celebrate, among other atrocities, post-birth abortion. By their measure, being a good Democrat in the Communion line means being a good ghoul.
The pandemic became a crisis that Democratic extremists don’t intend to go to waste when growing their agenda. The American people were locked at home lest they catch the germs, while real prisoners were freely freed in the alleged interest of fighting the germs.
Perhaps by the time of whatever the next crisis is, a Democrat-dominated Washington will order that disruptors of the social order — to wit, Christians, pro-lifers, Constitutional conservatives, Second Amendment defenders, for a start — must confine themselves until government determines whether their potential to threaten society has been, ahem, disarmed.
National conservative activist Lloyd Marcus posted about the Dems at his blog on April 14, beneath the headline, “Behind the curtain of corona madness”:
“Everything they desire to do will harm America and Americans: the Green New Deal, open borders, abortion even after a healthy child is born, mandatory LGBT indoctrination beginning in pre-K, repealing our Second Amendment right to bear arms, banning private health care, revoking our Constitutional religious liberty, getting rid of the Constitution, redistributing wealth, and removing America from her throne as the world power.”
How did the bad Catholic pols attain their eminence? If they’d proclaimed to be faithful Catholics while saying illegal immigrants and their infants must be shot down by the thousands at the Southwestern border, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops and individual prelates from coast to coast would have demanded, in high decibels, immediate repentance.
But defending illegal immigrants who don’t have to be at the border is a leftist cause that Democrat-inclined bishops can be comfortable with, while trying to defend millions of preborn babies who have no place to be except in their home of the womb makes said bishops worry that they’d damage the foundation of their own Dem political home, and are sure to be told so by their “progressive” pals.
Not so long ago, there were pro-life Democrats everywhere you looked in the U.S. House of Representatives. But the pro-abortion cause is ravenous. Once unleashed, it ate up almost every single one of them. To be a Democrat now at virtually any level except among many voters themselves means to be a strong pro-abortionist.
There are exceptions among the prelates, like Kansas City, Kans., Archbishop Joseph Naumann, chairman of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops’ Committee on Pro-Life, who had denied Communion to pro-abortion extremist Kansas Gov. Kathleen Sebelius in 2007, a so-called Catholic who fittingly went on to be abortion radical Barack Obama’s secretary of Health and Human Services.
But Naumann isn’t the dominant influence over the national Catholic bureaucracy. Even some years ago, The Wanderer’s Christopher Manion explained:
“American bishops are very busy men (just try to see one). They rely on their staffs for information, which their staffs happily supply. That helps to explain why so many people in the pews are bewildered when the USCCB embraces so much of the Clinton-Obama agenda. In fact, even mustering opposition to the ‘Freedom of Choice Act’ seems to make many bishops uncomfortable.
“Well,” Manion continued, “a stroll through the USCCB parking lot of 2000 and 2004 would explain the problem: Gore and Kerry for President bumper stickers abounded (in 2008, the bishops themselves gushed with praise for Obama — most notably former USCCB President Wilton Gregory, now archbishop of Atlanta).”
Of course, the politically liberal Gregory didn’t remain forlorn down in Georgia. After pliable Donald Cardinal Wuerl had to step down as head of the powerful Washington, D.C., Archdiocese, who but liberal Gregory replaced him in 2019, to hobnob along with the likes of bad Catholic Pelosi.
Meanwhile, Trump continued to draw derision from all the usual suspects no matter how reasonable his course.
When the president announced his intention on April 14 to suspend U.S. payments to the World Health Organization pending a review because the WHO had toadied dangerously to Communist China, the source of the virus, as COVID-19 spread, this seemed the only responsible course.
Was Trump supposed to reward a severe, indeed deadly dereliction of duty with the customary gushing of dollars? Of course he should, the usual suspects gushed.
While Trump constantly was pilloried by these suspects for the coronavirus, as he was for everything else, they were hypersensitive that China, where the virus came from, might be blamed at all. Indeed, even to say the words “Chinese virus” was evidence of bold bigotry.
But the generally editorially conservative Wall Street Journal supported Trump when it posted on April 15:
“President Trump’s . . . decision to withhold funding from the World Health Organization (WHO) should shatter the pretensions of the agency’s leaders, who had taken American support for granted. While the U.S. investigates the degraded agency’s COVID-19 failures, the White House can outline a path for WHO to regain America’s confidence.”
A notable development was an article in The Diplomat, an online international magazine specializing in the Asia-Pacific region. On April 15 it ran an article headlined, “Did Xi Jinping deliberately sicken the world? — (Communist Chinese) moral turpitude forces us to consider the unthinkable.”
The article was by Ben Lowsen, described in The Diplomat as “a specialist in Chinese political and security affairs working as a China advisor for the U.S. Air Force’s Checkmate office.” Lowsen described himself as an “admirer of China.”
He wrote that the Communist dictatorship’s behavior as this pandemic took hold “raises serious questions about its lack of moral limits.”
Even when it became plain the Communist Party had to “get serious” about the germs, Lowsen wrote, Beijing calculated that the more it might cooperate by warning other countries, the less badly those places would be affected. And why should China suffer more while its adversaries escaped serious damage?
Noting Beijing’s evil aggressions against its own people as well as other nations, Lowsen concluded that “as a longtime student and admirer of China, it is with great sadness I must concede that such a state — and its increasingly paranoid leader — might very well provide less than full cooperation to stem the pandemic of the century in the crass pursuit of its own interests.
“This may constitute biological warfare,” he wrote. “But even if it doesn’t, Xi should be brought to account for his other crimes against humanity.”
As of October 2019, the “Media Bias/Fact Check” site rated The Diplomat “‘Least Biased,’ based on low biased, straightforward news reporting and minimal left-right bias editorially. We also rate them High for factual reporting due to excellent sourcing of information and a clean fact check record.”
On April 12, an article posted at The Times of Israel had made a similar damning accusation, summarized in its headline, “Xi Jinping’s China did this — The corrupt, criminal regime wasted 40 days blocking information while it crushed domestic dissent and ensured COVID-19 would become a global pandemic.”
I hardly thought I was alone in suggesting that Beijing might have embarked on some biological warfare (I briefly raised the idea in my pandemic articles in the hardcopy issues of The Wanderer dated for April 2 and April 9), but it’s nice to see agreement with this Arizonan by some heavier hitters.

Liberals And Guns

Finally, the RedState blog posted a story on April 10 about California liberals, fearing personal danger in the pandemic, who rushed to a gun shop in ritzy Laguna Niguel, down by the beach towns of Dana Point and Laguna Beach in Orange County.
They were outraged, the story went, to learn that it was a bit difficult to buy a firearm due to the very laws that liberals always demand be passed — and had been in Sacramento. They couldn’t just hand over some cash and walk out the door with a gun in the pocket.
Interesting that the liberals learned this gun-law reality down by the coast. Way back when I worked at the daily Orange County Register, it was a fact that our major competitor, the Orange County edition of the liberal Los Angeles Times, had more subscribers in the wealthier, coastal towns, while the non-liberal Register did better in the “inland,” working-class areas.
The liberals may have been better at escaping reality beneath their upper-class tiled roofs and the tang of the ocean, but even they can’t escape it forever. Not as the pandemic rolled in across that vast Pacific seen through their windows.
