There Really Is A Border Crisis . . . Media-Dem Gang Laughed It Off Until Too Late

March 10, 2019 Frontpage No Comments

By DEXTER DUGGAN

PHOENIX — A few key words were missing when Vice President Mike Pence stopped by Arizona’s capital city shortly after March began to warn against the “crisis” and “unprecedented challenge” on the southern border, which is as close a drive from Phoenix as the time it takes to watch an adventure movie.
We don’t know how this border drama will end when the curtain comes down because it has imponderable elements from massive unauthorized invasion that literally could bring an end to the current United States.
But the crushing of social structures was the aim of two leftist activists in the 1960s who theorized about overloading the U.S. public welfare system to cause a crisis.
The theorists were Richard Cloward and Frances Fox Piven. Although Pence didn’t mention the “Cloward-Piven strategy” while speaking at the Phoenix field office of the Drug Enforcement Administration on March 5, the stark reality was a bleedingly porous border putting the nation on overload.
“The truth is, the crisis on our southern border today is overwhelming our system,” Pence said in his prepared text, “and transnational criminal organizations in Mexico and Central America recognize it as an opportunity to peddle more of their poison into our country.”
Listing tons of cocaine, heroin, and meth that the Phoenix DEA’s field division seized in 2018 while doing its “frontlines” work, Pence added that the agents also grabbed “enough fentanyl to kill one-third of the entire population of the United States. . . . You save lives every day in the work that you do here for the American people.”
The vice president went on to say that the agents are “confronting some of the most evil people in our hemisphere…who apply their trade with violence.”
However, drug-dealing gangs are only a fraction of the problem. Any foreign criminal could be agog at the prospects for doing evil in a submissive nation tied in knots by a corrupt media that spews daily brazen lies, as well as politicians of both the left-wing and establishment varieties who want the U.S. prostrate before invaders.
It was only a few weeks ago that dominant media and their Democrat Party allies — despite overwhelming evidence to the contrary — insisted there was no border crisis at all, except a fictional one that President Trump crazily dreamed up.
But with hordes more illegal immigrants defiantly streaming into the Southwest U.S. and stretching its border agents beyond the limit, media prevaricators cooked up a new story to take the heat off their own falsehoods. Why, the exploding invasion is all Trump’s fault!
Journos had fought tooth and nail against Trump’s serious warnings on border security since he first announced his presidential campaign in 2015. Every attempt he later made from the White House was howled down with imprecations against Trump’s alleged bigotry, racism, xenophobia, nativism, Ku Klux Klanism. You name it, and they always did.
Yet the biliously lying New York Times had to post an article March 5 headlined, “Border at ‘breaking point’ as more than 76,000 unauthorized migrants cross in a month.” The short month of February, at that.
The Times reported that the commissioner of Customs and Border Protection, Kevin McAleenan, said “the system is well beyond capacity,” with Times writer Caitlin Dickerson paraphrasing that he said “newcomers continue to arrive, sometimes by the busload, at the rate of 2,200 a day.”
And whose fault could this be? Why, Dickerson wrote, the evidence is that Trump’s aggressive policies haven’t worked.
Oh, the aggressive policies that had the president futilely begging and pleading for Congress to give him a few billion dollars for a border barrier?
Well, one legitimate complaint about Trump’s performance is that, to avoid a second partial government shutdown, he capitulated by signing the federal spending bill that Democrats arranged so as to increase the release of still more border invaders into the U.S. This was amid the dominant media and Democrat propaganda war insisting there was no border crisis.
The conservative Washington Free Beacon site reported on March 6 that Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kirstjen Nielsen had just testified to Congress that “The projections are dire,” and added that “at the current pace, we are on track to encounter close to one million illegal aliens at our southern border this year.”
A separate Free Beacon story the same day said that Nielsen also testified that because of violence on the trek toward the U.S., every illegal alien girl over 10 years of age has to be tested for pregnancy upon arrival: “Very unfortunately, because of the increase in violence, at ICE, when we have families with children, we have to give every girl a pregnancy test over 10. This is not a safe journey.”
Southwesterners familiar with border issues have long known of frequent rapes of illegal immigrants, and of the “rape trees” where the victims’ undergarments were displayed as trophies.
However, the lying dominant media usually suppressed and ignored reporting on this horror, then raged with eyes popping if a truth-teller like Trump dared mention it.
Moreover, when The Wanderer factually reported over the years about the dangers and drawbacks of massive illegal immigration, Missouri Catholic historian James Hitchcock falsely claimed that this newspaper’s writers simply opposed Hispanic “immigration” in his embarrassing book Abortion, Religious Freedom, and Catholic Politics.
Another pressing fact that dominant media routinely ignored was the threat of serious illness brought into the U.S. by unvetted Third World people. What should have been acknowledged as commonsense recognition of a public-health problem was instead slammed as racism.
Dominant media don’t seem to think they’re being racist by promoting vaccination of U.S. students these days, but a similar concern about health preparedness on the part of border-conscious citizens was falsely cast as bigotry.
The conservative Breitbart News posted March 5 that “U.S. Customs and Border Protection…officials report that agents and officers are referring an average of 55 migrants per day to hospitals. Over the past four years, this resulted in a taxpayer cost of $98 million.”
Breitbart cited a Border Patrol official on how this impacts their workload: “Since December 22, 2018, U.S. Border Patrol agents have spent over 57,000 hours at a hospital or medical facility. This equates to just under 5,700 shifts of hospital watch during these 72 days at a cost of $2.2 million in Border Patrol salaries.”
On March 4, Breitbart said: “Texas health officials report that nearly 200 people contracted mumps in migrant-detention facilities located across the state so far this fiscal year.”
Conservative commentator Steve Cortes posted at Real Clear Politics on March 6 that for months he jousted with border “flat earthers” on television whose unyielding opposition to Trump “always and everywhere precludes actual analysis of the dangerous border situation and even supersedes the immediacy of protecting American citizens.”
Cortes urged Trump to declare a new border emergency that would immediately suspend current requirements of accepting all illegal crossers into the U.S. if they claim asylum. This would mean the end of their being “guaranteed months, even years, of legal residency in the United States, often far into the interior of the country, and cared for at taxpayer expense,” he wrote.
“…Border issues largely vaulted candidate Trump to victory in 2016, and decisive action now to secure our national and economic security can similarly ensure his second electoral triumph in 2020,” Cortes wrote.

Designed To Fail

The Wanderer contacted three Arizonans on March 6 to comment.
Conservative Republican political consultant Constantin Querard said: “A short decade ago, the Democrat Party platform called for an end to illegal immigration, and every Democrat leader was vocal in declaring it wrong and bad for America. The media did not call them racist for saying so.
“Which means that the massive shift in the views of the left (both in the Democrat Party and in the media) has taken place over a very short period of time, and it was accelerated by their opposition to anything ‘Trump,’ which obviously includes border security and ending illegal immigration,” Querard said.
“Democrats at the national level have never been concerned about the damage their policies will do to America because it is their goal to fundamentally remake the country, but the American people do not share their priorities and will likely make themselves heard in 2020,” he said.
“It may be early to say it, but it does feel like 2020 is going to be the people’s last chance to speak firmly on the topic of border security; otherwise it may well be too late.”
Querard said Democrat leaders may not have meant their previous tough talk against illegal immigration, “but there wasn’t this passionate embrace of having the country overrun by illegal aliens that we see now. Today’s positions seem hyper-partisan with the Democrats because they want to get as far from any Trump position as possible.
“The frustrating part is the half of the Republican caucus that thinks the Democrats are nuts but that are unwilling to vote right and solve the problem,” Querard said. “They’re the real mystery. Just a general lack of courage, as near as I can tell.”
A spokesman for the “Desert Visions” border-watch group that has a Facebook page asked not to be named, but said that anyone against “full, complete border security” and also against changing the immigration and asylum laws is keeping human slavery alive.
The current system “is designed to fail,” the spokesman said, adding:
“American citizens are educated and aware now more than ever about our corrupt politicians’ daily fraudulent statements. We the American people are currently slaves working to pay for each and every cost of those illegally entering our country. . . . More people than we will ever know about are cashing in on service contracts, selling of humans, and illegal, death-causing drugs.
“President Trump is fully aware of our failed border policies, the cause and effects on our country. We do indeed need a wall. The corrupt will indeed fight against any progress to achieve security and free all who are enslaved,” the spokesman said.
A Southern Arizona woman who declined use of her name because of her security concerns said Trump “made a huge mistake, in my opinion,” by signing the federal-funding bill. The Wanderer will call her Mrs. Smith.
“He had the opportunity. Had he been willing to die on the hill of the destructive Omnibus bill, he could have negotiated changes in our immigration laws,” Mrs. Smith said.
“First on his list could have been the laws which allow those with children to put a toe across the border with a coached lie on the lips about the need for asylum to enter the country. They can legally be kept for no more 20 days, then they must be released into the country with a court date in two or more years — a hearing to which they rarely appear,” she said.
“Had he held tight to change that,” she said, “the Republicans would have had to show their bloody hands to pass it with a veto-proof majority. Trump would have still had the Declaration of Emergency available for all its obvious weaknesses. But the opportunity was lost. In fact, losing the chance to stop asylum-seekers makes walls seem almost useless. . . .
“The asylum-seekers claim they are running from violence. But they actually do not escape it. They bring that violence with them. They are just as subject to threats and blackmail here from the criminal element that often helps them arrive at the southern border as they were in their own country,” Mrs. Smith said.
Referring to the 1960s’ leftists’ strategy to overload the U.S., she said, “Cloward-Piven designed a program to overwhelm the country with welfare recipients, to impose a federal program of basic income for all in the sixties. It failed, but this influx of poor will do the same job of overwhelming our resources. And what now?
“There are better ways to help the world’s poor than self-destruction. Where are those who will do that? The crisis is exploding into a disaster, and the power structure fiddles a song of cowardice,” she said.
